A place where folks are to get into the nature of the relationship between Islam and left politics, such as socialism and communism.
Asalamu Alaykum (Peace be upon you)
This sub’s main goal is to create an open platform to discuss the relationship between Islam and Socialism. Two subjects often considered being in complete opposite to one another. Not only do we want to answer the question of whether Islam and socialism are compatible, but how would a mix of the two materially look like and how they could be applicable to the diverse yet similar crises of modern Muslim civilization.
Islam is the second largest religion of the world. It has over a billion followers from Central Asia to Sub-Saharan Africa. Muslims, as we call ourselves, believe in the message sent by the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessing be upon him) over 1400 years ago, all compiled in the Noble Quran. Muslims also believe in following the actions and teachings of the Prophet, said to be saved within the hadiths (narrations of the Prophet’s actions).
Socialism as described in Wikipedia, “is a social and economic system characterized by social ownership and democratic control of the means of production, as well as a political theory and movement that aims at the establishment of such a system.” There are various tendencies that go along with socialism, all of which hope to attain true democratic rule within society.
