Has anybody had any experience with cycle to work certificates. I was approved by my work but told I have to wait for a certificate. How long does it normally take? And does it come from my job or somebody else?
My HR hasn't a clue.
Thanks
Thoughts on this event?
They could have give more details on the routes as that is the most important aspect of the event.
There are 3 routes:
Based on other Gran Fondos I assume there may be partial road closures but this is speculation.
I'm planning long trips along Ireland with a ebike, pedal assist can get me up to 120km on a single charge and I have the stamina for assisting to get those kind of ranges.
But I would like to found ways of charging along the way to reach further destinations.
The battery is removable, but big. Making stealthing anywhere unfeasible.
So far I have thought of non chain (big store chains lack flexibility on what they do) street bicycle shops. I e-mailed two and was surprised by one saying no and the other not replying. I offered to pay for the service.
Coming in June and renting a small car but would love to maybe see if any places near these two locations do bike rentals? Might be out of luck as my partner doesn't drive so can't head into galway to get a bike and they drive back.
I bought a ticket for the Ring of Beara cycle, but unfortunately I won't be able to cycle that day.
The event is on Saturday 27th of May. I have the tickets for the 110km route.

Tried bikmo but they exclude these bikes.
I’m looking to cycle from Dublin to limerick in the coming weeks and was wondering if anyone on this has done this before/ has any advice for it
Hello! I am looking to bike the wild Atlantic way this summer. Any advice on where to rent a touring bike? I'm not set on doing the whole route from Kinsale so any recommendations along the route are very appreciated. Thanks!
Hi everybody. I'm a PhD student who works on improving sports safety gear to reduce impact injuries/pain in sports like bicycling.
You can help me by filling out a very short (1-2 minutes) survey here:

I appreciate your time in advance!
Looking for some recommendations for off road bike trails around Dublin/Wicklow. I have an xc mtb and have done the trails round Ballinasloe/Ticknock but wonder if there is many longer distance/more exploratory trails than these trail centres if that makes sense? Nothing too hardcore. Cheers
I'm flying into Dublin in early September and am hoping to bike from coast to coast. The route suggested by google maps is: royal canal way -> old rail trail greenway -> R363 -> N63. I've done a few centuries in the last few months on a road bike in the US but have never ridden in Ireland before.
I am wondering if this ride is realistic to do in a day with a road bike with thin tires. It seems like the first two paths are unpaved and I am a little worried it will be slow moving on these trails. Also, will there be any issues riding on the roads?
Thanks for your help!
Is there a route to cycle from Athlone to Roscommon town that won't have many cars on it? (on a saturday)
Anyone have any suggestions or routes for some gravel styled/ trail rides in Munster? Something where I don’t need suspension as it’s a Gravel Bike.
My son is 2.5 years old and loves his balance bike. He’s very confident on it and races around. I’m looking towards Christmas to getting him his first proper bike, but finding it hard to find stockists in Ireland who sell good, lightweight kids bikes. There seem to be very few quality 14” bikes available on Ireland. There are lots of UK options, e.g. Cubley, Black Mountain, Sprog, Hornit etc to name but a few, but they are pricey to start with (which is fine for a quality bike I know will last and may be passed on) but I’ll be hit with Vat on the import which will whack up the price even more.
I’m currently looking at Woom bikes - based in Austria so shouldn’t be hit with customs? But wondering has anyone any other recommendations on a bike they found good for their little rider starting out?
Hi All!
Looking for recommendations on where to buy my first road bike in the Dublin area. Looking for:
- Recommendations on first road bike/ where to start
- Where to buy in Dublin area
- What to buy with bike (shoes, etc).
- Is it a better idea to go second hand on adverts
Have a bit of experience with a vintage road bike that I would ride at the weekend for fitness/ cycling journeys, but interested in investing in something that I can put some real milage into! Knowledge of road bikes isn't great I'm honest. I have dealt with Jimmy's in Portmarnock, who have been very helpful with fixes and advice.
Will be purchasing using bike to work scheme so willing to invest a few quid!
Hello all,
My Dad is looking to have his E Bike transported down to West Cork for a holiday and then back to Dublin again when he's finished.
Does anyone know of a somebody that does this service?
Many thanks
Eldon
hey guys i’ve been looking around for a bianchi super pista frame set and i can’t find it anywhere apart from america. anyone know of a bike shop or website that might still have one in stock?
Hi all.
My beloved 10 year old hybrid recently bit the bullet. The fork cracked through after a tumble with my daughter. 🤕 we all survived pretty much unscathed. Replacing it or the fork is not an option I used to use it cycle along the gravel tracks on the greenway here in Offaly. I have a road bike that with 23mm tyres that can do the routes but it's not at all comfortable and when the surface gets loose it's a bit nerve racking at times.
From looking around the Web I found some sites referring to people putting 28mm 'gravel or 'all terrain' tyres on their road bikes as an alternative to buying a cyclo-cross bike. I've checked it out and my bike will take 28mm tyres but I can't seem to find any. Do any of you guys know where I'd get some 700 x28c tyres suitable for use from tarmac through light gravel and some uneven surface.
Sorry for long winded post, I'm don't know enough about these things to be more concise.
Thanks.
Hey, I'm based in Dublin and looking to restore a few bikes, does anyone know of ways or places to pick up cheap or secondhand bikes/bike parts?
Aussie living here for ages but relatively new to road cycling here and unsure of what kit I’ll need for the colder months (Spring and Autumn are fine) given the “unique” Irish conditions
Suggestions?
Hi, I went out cycling a fair few times on a friends 'Hybrid' bike during lockdown and basically really liked it. I found it very good for the head (i suffer with bouts of depression) and for boosting energy.
So my Questions to all the Cyclists out there:
Any advice for buying a fairly decent entry level bike? I'll be Road cycling around Wicklow area for fitness and just to get out of the house!!!
I'm Male 5" 8-ish. So approx frame size?, Tire sizes Set up etc.?
Do I go Endurance or Road Bike? What kind of money? I've seen some amazing bikes online for 10k+
I would be willing to spend up to 1200 or so euro
Any tips would be most welcome & Cheers in advance.
