Hey All, I haven't spent any time in Des Moines in probably seven years or so.
Probably about the time the Iowa Barn Bar thing opened. The bar with only Iowa beers...
What's changed for doing bar crawls in that area?
Anything else in town worth doing if spending the night?
Purposely leaving out what I do know about to let people talk about anything they want to.
Anyone know any good fests this fall? Also haven’t heard of Singlespeed sour fest? Are they still doing this?
Long story short , mother in law can no longer take care of our kids while we were suppose to be on a long week vacation around the area. I have 2 VIP tickets to the beer fest that I'd like to sell if anyone is interested, it is for the event barn town brewing is having Saturday June 15 in De Moines. Thanks (Delete if post isn't allowed)
Yes it's a TikTok, but an interesting account to follow.

Hi from Norway.
I'm looking to get my hands on the different limited releases stouts from Toppling Goliath. I have family living in Des Moines, so I come and visit regulary but not sure how to get my hands of any of the releases. I have actually managed to buy the Term Oil Fluggernutter here in Norway, but not often I see anything from TG here. Do the yearly releases have a special dates they get releases so I can get my family check the local Hy-Wee at that time? Or is there a place where I can follow when new releases come? I see their twitter account havent been updated since last summer. Or are the releases so limited that I need to go to a bottle shop or stop by the brewery in Decorah next time I come to visit?
All advice would be appreciated.
Hey there!
I am currently living in Colorado but spent the summer in Des Moines for work. I absolutely loved some of the sour beers at Barn Town Brewing among other beers and need more of it in my life. I have friends that visit there sometimes driving to grab me some but wondering if anyone is wanting to start a Beer trade sent back and forth each month so I can keep my tastebuds happy. Colorado has an incredible amount of craft beer and we can work out how we would facilitate this but seeing if there is any interest from anyone in the community?
Let me know!
Anybody else hitting up the KBBS Release next weekend? I'm coming in from MSP on Sunday if anybody wants to hang, exchange local beers, etc.
I absolutely loved this, and I think you should try it.
Thank you.
Does anyone know exactly how many different beers Confluence has sold?
Even with the different types of hops with the same base brand name?
I bet I'd be stunned. There have been quite a few beauties that have come and gone.
Thanks in advance!
Kind of surprised on the location but happy to see them in the metro. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/money/business/2023/08/17/toppling-goliath-taproom-slated-for-des-moines-drake-neighborhood-new-restaurant-iowa-brewery/70610659007/
I'm going up for the Morning Delight release in August and was looking for some suggestions for any other breweries/tap rooms to visit in the area
I have a YouTube channel that reviews strange and unique beers and I found that bottle shops are a good place to find them. Also, I ha found that bottle shops are where I can get things a la carte instead of a whole pack of something I might hate.
Wall to Wall Wine seems to be pretty good but I wanna know what else is in the area.
