I think these graphics showing the data for the city centre are so cool, well done to the P&J data team!

Culloden

does anybody have experience of living in the Culloden area? Just wondering what it's like for day to day living without having to go into Inverness. Is there much antisocial behaviour and are the buses safe?

Seeing the amount of ugly abandoned sites is actually depressing, I hope they are planning to do something with them

Nurseries

Hi 🙋🏼‍♀️ we're moving up from Paisley this week, and I'm looking for a nursery for our 7 month old daughter.

She's not been in nursery yet, so I'm a bit nervous about finding one and sending her off 😭

Can anyone recommend any good ones? We'll be living in Bunchrew and I'd probably like to get her start in January/February. Is that even possible or are there wild waiting lists?

How to experience Hogmanay?

I had sketched out a travel plan to experience a bit of Edinburgh and move next to Inverness to experience the 2024-25 Hogmanay there. But I now find events have been officially cancelled. Has anyone got suggestions or info on any alternative events that might happen? I'm deeply interested in history and traditions, hence the desire to experience and learn more about Hogmanay! Thanks!

Weekly events in Inverness?

Hi all, wondering if Inverness has any kind of weekly social events? I'll be staying in Elgin for a year due to work, and since it doesnt have much going on (I could be wrong), was planning to drive to Inverness, hoping for something more lively.

Teaching in Inverness

I’m a teacher in England and have done so for the last 5+ years teaching primary school kids. I’m moving to Inverness end of next year and would like to carry on teaching - my worry is being English in a Scottish school. My friends have joked that I won’t get a job and the parents/kids won’t respect me. Are these just misguided stereotypes? Or is there truth to it?

What's happening with Velocity?

Velocity cafe seems to be shut this week, but no signs saying it's due to holiday, refurbishment etc or saying when it'll be open again. Is it terminal for Velocity? Or is it just shut this week?

Schools

Good evening all,

My husband, son and I are considering a move from Chicago, US to Inverness.

I have no experience with Scottish schools. Can anyone give some insight? I’m starting from zero, so any information is sincerely appreciated.

He’s in upper secondary, 15 years old.

Specifically looking for advice as to where we should look for homes with access to good school environments.

Thank you very much.

Theatres in Inverness

Looking for a small theatre space available to hire for an evening show in Inverness. Around 80-150 seats

OneTouch at Eden Court is a bit too big. Florians doesn't hire externally. Spectrum Centre seems to only be open during the day, not at night.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Doctor recommendations?

Hullo friends.

We're moving to Bunchrew in December and need to get myself, partner and baby (6 months) registered with a local doctors and health visitor.

I don't know about up that way, but here in Renfrewshire, doctors can be a bit of a minefield - some are great, others are ... Well not 😂

Does anyone have a recommendation for a local doctor, or a warning to stay back from any? 😂

Also, any other recommendations/warnings would be extremely appreciated!

Caley Thirstle kit

Trying social media here, not sure it'll work but here we go.

Was at the Caley Thistle match against Annan on Saturday and didn't think to grab a kit. Would love to support the club, but it looks like they don't ship to the USA - anyone know how to manage something like that? Any courier services that could assist?

Looking for homestyle restaurants.

Folks gave some excellent distillery info, so thought I would try again for food.

I'm a chef coming in from the states and looking for really good homestyle, local places. I don't need fancy, I have more than enough of that. Looking for excellent bar food, local spots, sandwich places. Not really looking for places like Mustard Seed and such, just honest good food.

Also looking for fish and chips, if there is a prefered spot. McLeod's came up searching around, but couldn't tell if it was actually good or where tourist went when they visit.

Thanks again for your help.

Car park charge for Strothers Lane

Hello, just wondering if anyone knows what the script is for these type of car park charges? We just got a letter telling us we are owed £100 for running past the time of our parking ticket. I know you used to be able to ignore this type of thing but I'm picking up that legislation has changed. Any recent experiences? Thanks.
