This room should be a central 'hub' with a living area facing a TV, and with a dining table.
Only 2 of us live here but I'd like there to be enough seating to be able to host a few others when needed. We could obviously put the TV on the top-right wall and a sofa on the top-left, but it creates a living area that's a bit cramped without much seating, and then you end up with more space than you need for the dining table.
Is there a way to really maximize the space better?
There's an image with meters and an image with feet. The white bars are radiators, the slidey doors at the bottom goes out to the back garden, and the door in the top-right leads to a small hallway.
Priorities:
Hello! I’m planning a rainbow project on my kids wall. 5 stripes of colour on top of their white wall (not repainting the wall).
Sample pots would be enough to make each stripe and clearly cheaper at £5/6 per 250ml rather than having to buy 1L of each stripe.
I realise sample paints aren’t the same as the full mix, from what I understand, but are they good enough for this project? What do I need to know about them to understand if this is a good or bad idea?
Thanks!
So, I'm looking to buy a selection of prints and canvases from some online sources and local museums. They both offer to frame, but then things go from $40 to $245 or $150 to $600 if I take them up on their frames.
If I'm looking to minimize my costs, is there a way to buy frames in various sizes online and do the framing myself? The frames themselves would be matching baroque / renaissance era paintings. They definitely don't need to be matching sets, so long as they're in the same universe.
I digress, should I buy all the prints I want and then find all the frames I need for the prints, or should I just bite the bullet and buy all these prints with frames? I've seen some people recommend goodwill and salvation army, is that a good idea?
Some print sizes I'd be looking at are:
22 x 14.75"
17.25 x 22"
40 x 25.625"
24 x 17"
20 x 20"
In terms of framing itself, will I need to grab some white paper bezels (not sure what they're called) to get some of these prints to fit in "close enough" frame sizes, or is there a specific formulae for prints -> frame.
Thank you, and if this is a FAQ or you know of a place that can answer these questions, please feel free to just send me the link.
I tried searching and did not come with much success.
The living room and dining are where this photo was taken from. That's the front door marked there and the mud room bench on the right. How should I use that space on the left? I have two kids under 3. I don't necessarily want to have a huge mess there or to make it look especially like a play area. I'd be happy with suggestions that include them or not. Any suggestions appreciated!!!
Help! I am having a dilemma on how do I arrange this shelf. I want the heart of strings plant to go on top since it’s viney, so preferably stay in it’s place.
TIA 🫶🏻
I'm looking for an affordable couch or loveseat for a small apartment and want something that is a decent quality at a good price. Which retailers have the best insurance/protection/guarantees for their furniture?
this is my first office, ever! what do ya thing?
items on the wall were here before me and can be changed! other thoughts?
Flexible on budget but ideally not looking to spend a ton. Looking to add 4 dining chairs and a bench. Curious if anyone has any good recommendations!
My husband inherited his grandfather's traditional crosstitches that have been stretched and framed.
We would love to hear any ideas for more modern ways to display them.
Not, we will be redecorating this room soon so the colour is soon to change
Hello! I have terrible interior decorating skills. I'm a big gamer and when I moved into this place recently I absolutely wanted to make this den space my cozy couch gaming space. Currently this works for me solo, but I want to invite people over to all play in a group and this setup just doesn't cut it. Me and my friends entertained getting a corner console that we place by the two windows and then add more seating all around it (Probably a couple bean bags too) but the current couch isn't great for the corner because of how linear the seatings are. Do you guys agree with this assessment? and if so , what kinda of couch would I get that can work with a corner set up? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
P.S I don't mind covering the closet a little bit, as long as one door is openable. So far nothing important is in there.
I’m moving into a new rental apartment (NYC) in a few days and I have no idea where to start with this space 🙈 It’s obviously small and dated, but I can’t make any major modifications. What would you do?
Our new home has a large set of front windows in the family room. Dark wood floor and trim and its about 10 feet across. I feel like there should be something in front of these windows but I am not quite sure. Any ideas? A long bench maybe? I dont want to obstruct the view but also feels like something is missing.
Hi - the house has this greyish tile floors everywhere and very cool colors and I personally like warm colors more. This table and rug are temporary, what color table should I get? I’m gravitating towards a black table but maybe I should stick to wood to keep the area warm? All thoughts and comments welcome. Also links to tables if you think a particular one would look nice
This is in my bedroom and idk what to do with it.
There’s no space for a couch or anything else on the floor. So things on the wall can be only done.
Hi all - finally getting around to placing knobs and pulls in kitchen cabinets and drawers, but ran into a dilemma related to the pulls. My understanding is that one should observe the 1:3 ratio when adding pulls (e.g. 12 inch drawer should have a 4 inch pull). The problem I have is some of my drawers are different lengths. If I use the ratio rule I will have 3-4 different size pulls making it look wonky. If I put the same size pull on each drawer, some will look too small and some too large.
Any thoughts or alternate ideas? thanks.
