Hey everyone!! I was looking at the different map types for Inkarnate Pro, and wanted to come on reddit and ask a few questions. What is the difference between fantasy battlemaps and watercolor battlemaps? What is the practical use of each? Are they designed for certain situations, or can they be use interchangeably? I am still learning how to use this software, so if my questions are remedial and basic, I do apologize!!
Just started using Inkarnate the other day. I'm running a long Sci fi campaign, all 20 levels, across seven planets, and this is the first, the world of Echo, planned to take the players up and through and to about level 4.
Hey everyone! I am new to Inkarnate Pro, and I have a couple quick questions. I hope they aren't redundant or silly, I am trying to familiarize myself with the program and the world I am creating.
First, I am trying to make my first map, and after choosing my desired style, I am presented with a screen where I can determine the size of the map. I went with "custom", and tried to make the dimensions 100x100. I know this is probably far too large, but hey, I am a beginner with this!! So, with those dimensions, when I zoomed out (via the wheel on my mouse), the map retains the 40x40 generic map size, and the rest of the map screen is empty/black. Is there a way to expand on the map, so that I have a bigger canvas to work with?
And second, when it comes to farmland, how do you guys usually portray farmland in your fantasy maps? Is there a specific tool you use for such a locale?
That's about it for now! Any and all help is appreciated!! Thanks so much!!
Hello guys, happy new year! This is my first time posting in the Inkarnate subreddit.
I have worked around the rivers to try to give it a natural look, after watching some tutorials.
Thank you for checking out the map, feel free to use it on your campaign if you so wish :)
If you are also interested on a Tarasque battlemap, I have a free one in my patreon as well.
Thank you!
After asking for a refund on my subscription re-up due to the new TOS, Inkarnate kindly did refund things and asked me to make sure to read the TOS to see that they in no way sell or profit off user data and are using it for analytics.
However, while it seems there was some misunderstanding among the community on that point, there is also a clause in the TOS that you are granting Inkarnate permission to use your maps to train AI.
You are granting INKARNATE, its affiliated companies and necessary sublicensees, a non-exclusive, world-wide, perpetual, royalty-free license and permission to use User Content in connection with the operation of INKARNATE’s business, the Website and the Platform, including, without limitation, the license rights to: copy, distribute, transmit, publicly display, publicly perform, reproduce, edit, translate and reformat, and create derivative works of such User Content for collaborative editing, viewing, promotional use and advertising, administrative, monitoring, analysis, machine learning, maintenance and product and service enhancement purposes. No compensation will be paid with respect to the use of User Content, as provided herein. Notwithstanding, INKARNATE will not sell User Content to third parties.
While some people may not mind this, I thought it would be best to make people who have not read the TOS in full aware of this.
Hi there!
Today I finished my first map in Inkarnate!
It is a map of the city of Winterhold, from The Elder Scrolls Skyrim!
I have taken many liberties with it, such as making it huge (as cities in Tes are supposed to be), given it many important buildings a city like this should have, like library, temples, a prison, etc.
Also yes, it has farmland (which looks ugly), a river and a port, none of which it has in game but they look cool!
Let me know what you think of it!
Any advice helps!
Hello! I was wondering if there is any way to purchase just a straight up one year without needing to subscribe? I don’t want to forget about it and suffer a year from now. If not an option, if I buy then immediately cancel, do I still have 12 months or does it just end?
I know that the map has some geographical errors (if you can point out any that went unnoticed), but what did you think? I'm looking for someone to transform it into a true inkarnate style fantasy map, I made the draft there, but I don't have the option it pays and I'm not used to the platform
I started this a few days ago and I'm looking for suggestions. I think I'm satisfied with the shapes for the most part but I haven't done much in terms of making the environments yet, besides the continent on the right. I know it's all up to me but would like some input if anyone has some to give. Thanks.
