The listening practice we get without booking the exam was challenging, not the mock tests, the speed of the speech was normal at first but then the lady started to speak fast while stating her surname and a few numbers, am i too bad at listening or are they harder than the actual test?
I'm giving my first ielts ever. I'm pretty confident I'm going to do well tomorrow on my test. Any piece of advice for me or something you would have known before the test? Thank you!!
due to a time crunch I only got around 5 days to prepare and now I have a little over 24 hours left. Need all the last minute tips and tricks possible. Id like to say I’m pretty good in English, it’s been my primary language for around 14-15 years now but I get super nervous before tests like these and I’m really worried I’m going to mess it all up. help 😭
Hi everyone! and I’m appearing for my IELTS Exam on 16th i’m still having trouble with True/False/Not Given questions, especially understanding the difference between “False” and “Not Given.” Could anyone who has taken the test share tips on how they figured out when an answer is “False” vs. “Not Given”? Any strategies you used to decide quickly?
Can we write all capital letters in reading and listening of computer based test?
Hello everyone! I need advice on how to improve my writing score. I have been stuck at 7.0 three times and I need to achieve a writing score of at least 7.5. I’ve tried IELTS Advantage and E2 IELTS but they haven’t worked for me ☹️
I’d really appreciate if someone would help me in this. My exam is in 2 weeks.
I have my IELTS speaking , followed by LRW tomorrow; in about 13 hrs from now. English isn't my first language but it kind of is. Been studying in English since 22 years, so I'm still pretty confident about LR and also speaking(mostly). I am good at vocabulary and grammar too, flow too probably but I still feel a bit anxious since because of the test-format and evaluation metrics etc..
Give me tips on speaking and writing.
I have been doing mock tests in the IELTS Academic book, and I came across this question:
"In many countries, people are now living longer than ever before. Some people say an ageing population creates problems for governments. Other people think there are benefits if society has more elderly people. To what extent do the advantages of having an ageing population outweigh the disadvantages?"
For this question, do they want me to support that advantages outweigh disadvantages? Can I take a different stand and say that disadvantages actually outweigh advantages?
Also, do I write about advantages only or discuss both advantages and disadvantages? How best to structure my response?
Your insight is much appreciated!
Those who have already scored high on the IELTS, starting from 8.0 to 9.0, please share your story about studying for the IELTS and reaching such levels. How did you get there, what challenges did you face during your studies, what resources or materials did you use, and finally, what advices would you give me?
currently my scores from mock test are 7.5 in listening 6.5/6 from reading 6/6.5 in writing and 6.5 to 7 in speaking I need a band 7 overall and even if I dont get the score in first try I can take another one any tips I know I dont have any time left.
I just sat my test and didnt really have the amount of time preferred to proof read so I made quite a significant amount of spelling mistakes so I'm wondering how much would it potentially push my band down? Pls help
Hey guys, just wanna clarify.
Where did y’all get the idea, that the validity of an IELTS certificate is two years? I’ve just received my own certificate, and while it does mention, that it is recommended to re-asses your language skills after 2 years, nowhere does it say that the certificate expires after this period time, nor that it becomes invalid.
Thanks for your input!
I am happy with the test results after almost a day or no practice but guys be sure to do EOR if you're sure of doing better in the exam and you're unsatisfied with your results. After all examiners are humans too.
I don't understand why choose B here ,I don't think 80% happy is quite happy

Hello, I'm one of candidates who take IELTS test.
When I see scores uploaded in this reddit, I really feel shocked. Also I feel jealous because I want to get a Band 7.0 in speaking test.
I know what I have to do is practicing. However, I live in a country which doesn't use English and I'm the only one who can speak English among my family and friends. I really want to know what are my mistakes, but I can't find any methods.
How did you guys practice (or study) Speaking test? Also I eagerly want to find a study partner, if I get a chance...TT
I have a question related to computer based ielts. In writing section Do I have 60 minutes for whole test or 20 min for report and it dissappear after that and same for essay ? Also give me tips please for tomorrow exam
Took the normal academic once but didnt know the UK needed UKVI so had to take another. Super happy with the results tho
You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.
In some countries university students live at home with their family while they study, whereas in other countries students attend university in another city.
Do you think the benefits of living away from home during university outweigh the disadvantages?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from own knowledge or experience.
You should write at least 250 words.
In few countries, some students live with their family whereas other goes to universities of other cities and live there while studying. In my opinion , to not live with your family while high level education have more advantages compared to living with family. This is due to two main reasons , focus on studies and freedom .
University education is considered to be the most important phase in a student life and the coursework is very challenging. In order to focus on studies , it is essential to live alone as you no longer have someone to disturb you . for example , when i was in university , i was forced to do home groceries and attend family functions during my exams. These issues create hurdles for a student who is trying to achieve good grades in exam.
Another reason is freedom. University friends often arrange parties to enjoy breaks during semesters. However , some strict parents would not allow their children to attend the party which in some case results in bullying. for instance , some of my university friends invited me to a party but i was not able to attend it as my parents won't allow me to attend it . Therefore , living alone provides freedom and to enjoy university life.
In conclusion, while not living with family, you may miss them for sometime but in the end you to focus on your studies and enjoy sometime with your friends as well.
How much time do I need to get prepared for IELTS, if I am on B2 level?
I’m looking for a girl companion, we can level up together & share resources. DM me
Hi, i just found the site upmyielts.com They claim that they use real IELTS examiners for their service. But i couldn't find any feedback about them on the net. Is there any one who used them? Are they reliable
I have to apply to this scholarship Erasmus Mundus, the deadline for this scholarship is 30 December.
Should I give the IELTS test on 16 November or 7 December? So that I am able to get the IELTS result before the deadline.
So as it states, im done with my IELTS exam and got my results. Also i got my e-trf. Can i submit that directly to university portal??? Cause i heard one of my friend say that the result will be directly sent to the applying university through some options from the IELTS website and the one which i send wont be considered. If anyone has any experience lmk🙏🏽
Everything went pretty well, but expected a little better in writing. Still the scores look pretty solid for me.
Hello, my IELTS test is scheduled for the 23rd of November. I started studying by myself today and started off with the listening section and it’s safe to say that I’m quite confident with my English skills but the listening part is making me nervous now, as it was quite hard for me while taking mock tests.
I would appreciate if someone could give me some tips on the listening part of the IELTS. One of my main problems is that I’m always to short on time, I’m just very nervous for this part of the test in general as you can only listen to the recording once.
Also if anyone has any preparation guide (no teachers or online courses) please feel free to share it or just any websites or YouTube channels that might be helpful for the test in general.
GUYS MY EXAM IS ON DEC 5TH
I keep getting low band scores :(
What should I do?
I write everyday but I use chatgpt and still get a band 5.5 please tell me how can i get high score especially in writing and reading?
I am wondering because I keep doing silly mistakes, one typo, forgetting a letter or adding one. for example I wrote sinewy mucles instead of sinewy muchle. Is this going to be marked as wrong?
Right now, I am freaking out. I am preparing for the last one month. Till now I wrote around like 15-20 essays, and I spent a decent amount of time on practicing speaking section as well. Moreover, I took 15 mock test in listening and 10 mock test in reading section from British Council, in both of these section my average score was 7. The highest I got was 8.5 and lowest was 6.5, so I am confident in these section. Writing and speaking are totally upside down, I am not feeling as confident in these section when compared to L and R. I guess this is because my writings were evaluated by chatgpt, and I don’t know how reliable it is. I was constantly getting 6.0 and sometimes 5.5 as well, I was not using the general gpt model instead I used this ielts gpt, which evaluate all of my essays very strictly. This totally broke my confidence, but somehow I hope, I can get 6.5 in writing. In terms of speaking, I can’t evaluate myself, again gpt was very annoying, so I gave a try on IELTS premium mock test for speaking. This one also broke my confidence since the conversational questions (part1) were very tough. I am right now in a state of agony, and wishing every thing goes well tomorrow.
U have my ears, please give me some last moment tips or advice.
Hello I just booked IELTS online exam today but need to reschedule the listening reading and writing segment. The exam is in 13 days I already sent them an Email but was wondering if anyone has had an issue like this and whether they were able to reschedule or not.
