I'm headed to a shoot in a state that only allows 10 rd mags, and I only have 3, can I directly load my +1 before inserting my mag on the load and make ready? I realize some gun extractors don't like this, but I have a 92FS and I'm comfortable it can handle it for 1 match.
Thinking about shooting PCC and taking a break from CO to switch it up.
What denotes weak hand shooting on those stages?
If I’m right handed, can I put the stock on my left shoulder and still control with right hand or do I need left hand firing on left shoulder?
Do you only need to reload if it’s noted in the stage brief?
What optic are y’all running?
Any issues with a stamped SBR?
A couple spots of hesitation. Mag not dropping right away. Rushing on some targets. Learning to slow down when needed. Overall I feel an improvement. Great squad today. Thank you PMPRC for the great match. Enjoy the video
Any good drop and offset holster attachments that is still legal for idpa?
Hey guys! Currently going to be using my edc as my idpa gun. That being said I’m curious in if I can upgrade the trigger and still be safe in the rules!
It’s a shadow system xr920 with a Holosun 507kx2! ( going to be getting a bigger dot like a 507 comp I believe)
That being said I looked it up and I get some people saying that in CO it’s fine and others saying it’s not??
Hypothetical: you win a contest from some online retailer that will set you up with a brand new IDPA rig. Gun, mags, parts, holsters, belt, and pouches. What are you picking and what division are you thinking about?
Hey all, a goal I have for 2026 is to do a match outside of North America.
What countries are the easiest for those traveling internationally with a pistol and ammo to get into? Who has a good match?
Hello All: this is my first time posting here. I've never competed before. I am just now getting ready to start. I think I'm gonna start in either CCP, ESP, or SSP. Presently, I'm leading towards CCP.
Anyway, I have a question or two that I'm having a hard time discerning from the rulebook:
Questions:
(1) If CCP can have the same modifications as ESP (which I think might be true) can I use a Seattle slug on my G19 for CCP (and, if so, would it fit within the box )?
(1.2) Or, if I can't use a Seattle slug, can I use some other sort of weighted grip plug that doesn't protrude out of the bottom?
Thank you in advance for any assistance.
What recommendations are there for action cameras? I prefer something I can wear or attach to my gear. I had an Aimcam Pro 2, but it got wet at the last match I went to, so I'm hesitant about getting another one of those. Thanks for any help.
All,
So the rules say that you can use a 380 or larger in BUG. However, it requires a power factor of 95. That means that the typical 95gr FMJ bullet needs to travel at 1000fps. Most factory ammo is specced below that, and in reality it's probably even lower when fired out of a 3" barrel.
So I assume it is not possible to use a 380 in BUG unless one uses extra spicy reloads?
I just finished my uspsa build and I’ve talked with the 2 local IDPA match directors @ the matches I go to every month to see if I can shoot as “Not For Competition” to get time behind it and they said yes. However, they do not know if I have to wear a cover garment still or not. Is it up to them? I wouldn’t think I’d have to but I don’t know.
Active LEO here. I’ve shot IDPA, in SSP division, in the past using my duty rig. Stock G17, light, iron sights, w/ duty belt and all that. My department now issues red dots and magwells on our handguns, what division would I fall in now? I tried reading the rule book for ESP and just got more confused. Help!
I did my first IDPA match yesterday. I've only done two Steel Challenges as far as competitive pistol goes.
As this was my first IDPA, I went to an event that was a short intro to IDPA followed by a match. During the info session the SO was going over drop mag, rack, show clear, hammer down and holster. He said, "Your not John Wick, don't catch the bullet, just show me clear."
We had four stages and on the last when I racked, the bullet popped up and I caught it without thinking, pulled the slide back, showed clear, hammered down and holstered.
He immediately scolded me and said I didn't show clear when asked. Let's be clear: I screwed up. The SO said don't do X and I did X. I apologized and moved on.
However, I'm looking to get an outside perspective on why he is strict about this. Any ideas? Is it a safety issue? Just this fellas pet peeve? IDPA rule?
Oh, he was a great SO and was patient with all the newbies. No shade on him.
First shots for staff day optics. 41st overall CO.
Part 2 of the staff day shoot! 4th ESP Overall, 14th overall.
Just wondering if anyone uses enclosed dots like the EPS not the EPS carry. When I see videos people seem to have something that looks larger for competition. Know very little about these and the idea of enclosed seems useful.
Does anyone know what rule changes if any are coming doesn’t the pipe fit next year? Someone at my club mentioned ESP and CO going to 15 round mags. Just curious if anyone has heard anything about equipment or procedure rule changes.
