Pro-tips
Soundcloud is great, and free, for posting tunes. Some apps (like MultiTrack DAW) have built in support.
There are many IOS content producers who are prolific, some of them offering free app codes and always great advice on using the apps. Please don't drive them away by reporting them as spam or downvoting their submissions, we all benefit from their involvement on this sub.
Want to collaborate with others?
Enable Downloads on your Soundcloud submissions and mention in your submission that you don't mind if others manipulate or "remix" your works. (You should label your uploads with a CC "non-commercial/share-alike" license.)
Alternately, feel free to zip up your GarageBand/NanoStudio/etc project (not a "mixdown"), upload it somewhere, and post it here if you'd like to collaborate with people by trading a project back and forth.
Put [Collaborate] somewhere in your post title if you desire collaboration. Maybe [Listen/Collaborate] if you're combining the two.

New to iPad Music?
Obviously do a search for topics of interest, there have been quite a few posts over the years and it is likely someone has had the issue. Also consider visiting the Audiobus Wiki for some expert advice on app setup and techniques.
Unfortunately our prior guru at discchord for daily apps news and videos is done. Was nice to check this out each day!

Hello,
I'm trying to determine my travel controller for the iPad, and I'm thinking so thing with MPE would be ideal send that would also be useful in the studio, and would be great with Animoog.
Not many options though.
Sensel is out of production.
Joue Play doesn't seem to be for sale anywhere.
and so that leaves the K-Boards, ROLI Keyboards, and the Intuitive Instruments Exquis.
The Exquis says it has an "app", does anyone happen to have this board and know whether that app is just on desktop only or is there an iPad and app where I could change profiles/setting directly from the iPad? How is the controller overall?
I came across it and it really intrigues me. It seems like a lot can be done with it given it has LFO’s etc. I have a Digitakt and it kind of reminded me of that. I wondered if anyone has any experience with both.
My favorite DAW is Ableton by far, I feel sort of lost and like I’m always trying to figure shit out in vubasis 3 or logic Pro for iPad. Im learning them, but they never seem comfortable like Ableton, that at-home feeling. So my question is, can I connect the iPad as a midi instrument into Ableton when I know I can make stuff and export it from the iPad, but these days I can pretty much make stuff from anywhere and import it. What would be cool as if the iPad was an actual instrument and then I could load Moog Model D or Model 15 or Drum computer the list goes on, you get the drift. It would be super cool if I could get Ableton to kind of be the brain of it all. I’m using an “trial“ version of Ableton right now, if I can incorporate the iPad somehow, with midi, id be in heaven. I have too much invested in the iPad to completely rule it out or just use it once in a while. I’m having a DAW decision crisis. Any input will be well received, I need to make a decision so I just need to let Ableton go and get better at the iPad DAW’s? Thanks in advance for your advice.
I mean, in US it is 24,99$ which is 100zł. but the discounted price in Poland is 129,99 this is over 7$ more. I thought about buying it but I won't subsidize Americans. Developer is able to set the prices in different countries individually but if they don't do that I am out, as Apple provide not fair conversion rate.
Hi everyone, I have a small issue, my audio interface has 1 channel atm and the garage band panning feature doesn’t pan my audio to the left if I try. Wider and stereo lag doesn’t do anything to fix the issue, what can I do.
I decided to switch all my work from MBP to iPad. As I looked for most feature powered DAWs that are available on AppStore my circle is seized to two of them; Cubasis 3 and Beatmaker 3. Now, what really bugs me is that Beatmaker 3 seems like abandoned project...it seems like it is really powerful app but I read mixed reviews, mostly about crashes...
Does anyone using Beatmaker 3, is it stable on iPadOS 18 and what is your owerall expirience with it?
the song is my favorite song i've made whoch is why i'm showing it, i like to try to lrove that you don't need fancy daws or computers to make music
Are there apps that will accept an audio file, and extract the drum pattern, preferably in grid notation, or as MIDI?
Just starting out with creating drum patterns and I find it hard to translate what I hear into a grid.
Hey guys,
I recently got into ipad music, even if I had use a lot garegeband in the past, with Koala Sampler that I love.
I also have an Arturia Microfreak and I was looking for a way to jam (the looping part is very important) with my synths, guitars, koala an tonestack (bought with bf sales)
So is AUM a good buy or should I stick with Garegeband? I found AUM a little expensive, never but this amount in an app.
(I'm not a newbie in music, already have all the gear I need)
Thanks
Any of you experiencing this? Will the 18nfix it or make it worse? I'm planning for a black week hoard so does any other plugins have this problem or is it an iOS thing?
Moving from Windows Based VSTs to iPad I was dismayed to find virtually no trial versions of music gear apps.
I wasted a lot of money buying apps I ended up hating (YT videos only take you so far). Till some kind soul on this sub pointed out you can request a refund.
That has worked well, but the last few times I've tried Apple has refused to refund me. Interestingly they have been less expensive apps under ten dollars.
I don't like that they don't give me a reason. It just says not eligible. I don't know if I've hit some sort limit for total refunds. I didn't see any requirements like that.
I challenged the last one which was just an eight dollar plug-in. I pointed out it was impossible to tell if it was usable for me till I tried it with other apps I planned to use it with. They shot back pretty fast with another no and no explanation but saying their decision was final.
Anyone else having this sort of thing or am I on the wrong side of Apple now? I disconnected from iCloud maybe that has something to do with it?
What would you recommend for the best quality sounding Fender Rhodes on iPad? I was looking to buy something during Black Friday. Also, any recommendations for any plugins for Hip-Hop, Jazz and Neo-Soul I would appreciate. I make beats with Maschine and Plugins and my MPC Live but love to have options all within the iPad if possible too.
I know they’re probably over, but holding out for fugue machine and samplr. Anyone else?
I made spreadsheet, you may look here. It also contains deals for movies and tv shows (If you buy something from those link I got small commision, sadly it does not works with apps). Feel free to share it.
I'm exploring generative music and I'd like to write code to send MIDI signals live to AUM. I found that FL Studio supports Python scripting. Does anyone here use FL Studio to sequence AUM? I don't have FL Studio but I could get it only for this purpose.
I mainly write Python for machine learning. I know I can skip FL Studio and communicate directly between a Python script and AUM, but I don't want to spend too much time dealing with hardware problems. Windows seems to have bad Bluetooth MIDI drivers, so I might need to buy a CME WIDI Bud Pro to solve this issue.
I would like to know your experiences with sending MIDI data to AUM from FL Studio.
Hi folks! After a bit of help with Logic Pro. I recently bought a MK1 Akai MPK Mini and have hooked it up to my iPad but I'm getting no MIDI output from it into Logic despite the iPad recognising it in the inspector. Does anyone have any ideas or know if I'm missing something?
I was going to suggest the keyboard is not supported (it's an iPad Pro from 2021) but I wouldn't expect to see it come up at all if that were the case. It works fine with my MacBook so just a bit confused!
Hi,
I've been posted here a lot recently, so my apologies, but it has been extremely helpful!
I got into electronic music about a year ago, starting with Ableton 11 Suite and a MIDI keyboard. I was amazed by how accessible soft synths were on a computer, but soon after, I discovered the iPad’s music-making apps.
These days, I use my iPad almost exclusively. I find it much more engaging, especially with the tactile experience of "touching" synth knobs on the screen, and I’ve had better luck connecting with sequencers there. My focus is on live jamming—sort of like a loop artist but a "sequence artist" instead—rather than mixing, mastering, or even recording.
Now, I’m debating whether to sell Ableton or try to integrate it better into my workflow. The only clear path I see for integration would involve investing in Push 3 and connecting it via ADAT to my Scarlett 18i20 (which is already hosting my iPad). Though how much this would bring compared to just what's on the iPad I am skeptical about.
What I’m trying to figure out is whether Push 3 (and Ableton as a whole) would add enough value to my "sequence artist" workflow to justify keeping Ableton, or if I should lean fully into the iPad (plus just general MIDI controllers with it)? Are there unique benefits or synergies between Push and the iPad that I might be missing? If you’ve worked with both iPad music apps and Ableton/Push, I’d love to hear your insights on what I might be missing.
Thanks in advance!
Hello, I’m seeking some guidance. I'm a complete beginner to music production and most interested in creating hip hop beats with a heavy emphasis on sampling.
I've been researching the possibilities of a setup and come to the conclusion that there are endless ways of going about this.
I'm thinking I'll center my iPad Pro M4 as the production hub - l've taken an inventory of recommended apps and DAW's including Loopy Pro, Koala, and Logic.
I'm also a gear head and would like to incorporate a hardware controller to complement the process, this is where I need some help.
After lots of research - I'm currently fixated on the Maschine Plus - I understand that this is a standalone machine that is centered on drumming and sampling. I also understand that it checks the box as a controller for the iPad Pro:
Ive also considered a couple additional options:
So thats where l'm at. Am I thinking about this correctly? Is the Maschine Plus the move? Any insight or recommendations would be super appreciated.
I’ve tried Hammerhead, Rock DM Lite and Sugar Bytes Drum Computer but most I got a few years ago. What do folks use and recommend these days?
Here's a reasonable YT comparison video about:

They make a couple of good points:
Also, here's a post on this subject from 10 months ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/ipadmusic/comments/1ab674h/your_favorite_granular_synth_in_2024/

What do you like/dislike about them?
I’ve been on a quest to move away from stage keyboards to iPad soft synths. I have a YC73 and a Nord Electro 5D. I want to be able to leave one at practice and one at home and just bring my iPad. Also, there’s an open mic venue with some other keyboard that I’d like to be able to quickly set up. I’ve nominally settled on AUM for switching between patches. Midiflow looks like one possibility. It would seem I need another app with autolearn, config save/load, and routing capabilities so I can easily switch between keyboards and still use their knobs (e.g. drawbars) interchangeably. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hello, I’m looking for suggestions on application plugins for iPad that might help me create cinematic percussion taiko type beats for my dramatic trailer soundtrack style music? The only things I’ve gathered are the Taiko and Chinese drum kits from GarageBand and combining Indian and Mideast drummers.
Hi,
I got SugarBytes Drum Computer in the Black Friday sale...
Is it possible to enter beats by finger drumming rather than entering the pattern on the sequencer screen? I can't find it in the instructions or demos, so I'm guessing not?
Thanks
Hi, I developed an app that tracks your hand and map your index finger to notes and thumb finger openness to volume to create Theremin sound. I'd like to get your feedbacks. Here is the video https://twitter.com/ozgr_shn/status/1365705566358798344?s=20
Here is the beta app on TestFlight:
I'm looking for a generative sequencer app that can send/receive midi and clock to be used for drone/ambient/soundscape tracks. I like the looks of sqsl Latch but it is standalone.
First time with this problem and I could not find a solution via Google. I recently bought Weeping Wall. It works fine in standalone but it does not show up inside AUM in any list.
I have abundant space in my iPad and restarting it did not solve the problem.
Any idea what could fix this? Thanks!
