Did you take classes online from another university? If so, which university? Were they upper-level?
Hey y’all I applied to the fall 2025 semester and was wondering how’s the community at Humboldt. Is there punk shows? What do people like to do? What are the clubs like? If you have any insight lemme know, thanks I appreciate it.
Hello all, I'm a student here at Cal Poly Humboldt in the dorms and I was wondering if I could mail an empty suitcase from here? It's pretty big, but has nothing in it. Is there a personal mailing service here on campus? If so, how much would it cost to send a package from here?
Hey y'all,
I'm transferring out of CR in a year or so and considering CPH as an option to avoid moving out of the area. I'm getting my BA in Psychology before moving onto a graduate program.
My grandfather worked as a professor for the Psychology department at CPH back in the day and didn't have the greatest experience between colleagues, thus my hesitancy. I can imagine it's changed now, just want to eliminate this concern.
Was wondering if anyone had any input on the department as a whole & the psychology professors there, so I know what I'd be jumping into.
Any unbiased input is appreciated.
Hey everyone! I’m a commuter and have an online class in between two of my in person classes. This is my first year on campus. What are some of the best spots to be to take your online classes on campus? Especially with the rain this week. Thanks!
I’ve been looking at the housing options for transfer/continuing students and I can’t really tell which ones are best. The application is opening up soon and I was just wondering what peoples opinions/experiences have been for each of the options. I know the Campus Apartments aren’t available anymore, so no one has experience for the new dorms, but I was curious about College Creek, Cypress, and Creekview.
Did any student here happen to take ecotopia last semester and have the min/max thermometer? If so, I'd be happy to pay for it.
Hello again everyone! I've already made a couple posts asking questions about various things but, I still have so many questions!
This time around I am very curious about the punk/counter culture scene. Is it prevalent? Is there one at all? Is there a music venue or area specifically catering to a more punk or alternative scene?
Thanks!
Hello! My kid will be an incoming freshman in the fall, moving into the dorms August 15th and participating in Klamath Connection. Our family has tickets for a big event at Shoreline August 22nd (Weird Al world tour!) Do you need to be on campus all day on the Friday before the first day of classes?
Hello, my boyfriend is interested in working in a museum, specifically he wants to work with textile preservation.
Anyone got any experience with this program? Is it quality? Can you get a good job with it or get it to a great Master's from here? What are the pros and cons?
Thank you.
Hey everyone! I have been doing a healthy amount of research about the school and area because I have been heavily considering going to Humboldt. However through my research I have seen a good amount of discourse around the lack of diversity, specifically when it comes to people of color. I come from a relatively diverse area and the lack there of seems concerning. Any insight is appreciated!
Hey everyone! I am highly considering Humboldt as my transfer school this upcoming fall semester and just wanted some general opinions on the area/county, school/town life, people and anything else people may want to comment on.
After reading some other posts it really seems like a lot of people regret going to Humboldt and really don't enjoy the school/area at all. Not sure if those people are just the loudest or if aot of people genuinely don't like it up there.
For some context, I'm transferring to study Wildlife biology or a related field. I am from a town in the high desert about an hour or so from LA.
Thanks for any insight!
I've been considering coming here for a Biology program, but after doing some research online I'm a little worried. I've been seeing a lot of negative stuff regarding the housing situation/the administration at the school/the weather being super gloomy all the time/the area being pretty sketchy. How true is all of this? What pros/cons have you found after attending this school? Thanks for your time!
When you get off the 101 ramp the guy sleeping on the corner in the recliner, I’ve seen him at his post staying vigilant for over a year now protecting all pedestrians and drivers alike seemingly 24/7, and I think his efforts deserve recognition. I’ve been curious to who he is and how he got there as it is hard to see someone who is a little on the younger side struggling but I’ve also seen him get good meals from strangers so at least he is taken care of, anyway! We should get him some school merch and name him the unofficial school mascot! And pretend he’s endorsed by the school!
Hey I saw a post of someone looking for a roommate for cph in my feed but forgot to save the post and now I’m trying to find which group they posted it to. Is there any cph student housing groups?
Hey there, I am graduating from Cal Poly Humboldt with a BA in psychology this semester. I am applying to the counseling psychology MA program beginning fall 2025. I know the program is super selective and it's impossible to find any data regarding acceptance rates online. I'm looking to hear people's experiences applying to the program, whether you've been accepted or denied. My current GPA is 3.031 (brought up from a transfer GPA of 2.6), and I have a good amount of experience in the field. My GPA is so low due to severe mental health struggles during my time at community college, but since I've been at Humboldt I've earned nearly all A's and a few B's (which I discussed in my SOP).
If you have any experience at all regarding applying to the program, feel free to reply or DM me! Any information is greatly appreciated :)
This might be a dumb question, but I’m going to be going to the Spring Preview in either March or April (Transfer student for Fall 2025) and I was wondering if it’s normal for people to have their parents/any guests with them? Depending on who I go with, either my parents or some of my friends want to go with me, and I was just wondering if it’s normal or if I’m allowed to have guests
I’ll be transferring in next year as a sophomore and was curious as to why I’m not hearing as much about the housing crisis at Humboldt anymore. When I find news/posts about it they are mainly from 2023. Is it still a big issue?
Just a quick question, I wanted to order groceries from the Costco in Eureka, and they offer same-day delivery for them. I was just wondering how I should go about ordering the groceries, since I know that most deliveries go straight to the mail rooms. Can I have the groceries delivered straight to me or can I pick them up when delivered? Is grocery delivery allowed to the dorms?
I want to accept my admission offer, but i'm unsure how much i'm supposed to write in response to, "What is the main reason you have chosen to attend?". how much are they looking for? do they want me to write a paragraph, or keep it short? sorry for the silly question
I really want to know what my $3000 meal plan money is going to because they are serving bs in the dining hall. I really appreciate the staff and everything they do but the food they are told to serve is getting insane. The amount of cod i’ve been forced to endure this first semester is insane. Now they’re serving ramen noodles as a menu item? how is $1000-$3000 per student not enough to not serve RAMEN noodles in the j? Tonight is ramen noodles and mustard crusted cod for dinner😍😍
I just received a newsletter in my email and it has been confirmed, they will be demolishing as soon as the Hinarr Hu Moulik student housing complex is ready for occupancy this summer due to mold.
hii, creating this thread for anyone that applied for the fall 2025 in-person 2 year MSW program at humboldt~ i jus got a phone call from the dept letting me know they’re reviewing my app and will let me know by mid-march. anyone else here apply or heard back from the school? any alums that’ve gone thru this program that wanna share any thoughts/advice? :)
I am on campus studying everyday. Problem is, I like to get started around 5 am, long before libray opens. Where are some places I can go?
Thanks for your help!
Hi all. I'm out of the area and just wanting to follow the developments of the college of the arts. Has there been any official word on if the pile of money to upgrade to a Cal Poly will be shared with the arts? 2d/3d/dance/music/theatre/creative writing/film, etc?
Any new buildings in the works for the arts?
I did a quick search and didn't find anything concrete.
Ty
Hi there, I'm a 3rd-year wildlife student here trying to plan out the rest of my degree, and I'm just looking for any info at all on what it's like doing the wildlife capstone projects. The available info is super limited and after reading it all I am still confused about what they actually entail. like, what is the course load? Which one should I go for? Any info is majorly appreciated!!! Thank you!!
Humboldt is in my top choices to transfer to mainly because of it's location, but I'm not too sure if it's the right choice for my major. I keep reading posts that say Humboldt is well known for it's STEM programs but does anyone have any experience with its engineering pathways?
I'm also having trouble finding the "Mechanical Engineering" option when looking up transferable lower division classes on assist.org even though Humboldt's website states that they offer MechE degrees. Does anyone know where I can find that information?
A younger loved one of mine has been accepted to Cal Poly Humboldt and I just want to make sure they have a smooth transition to college this fall. I'm an alumni from another CSU so I'm not too familiar with the Arcata area. Here are my questions:
What are the off campus housing options (and what's the rent like?) Are dorms the better option?
Is there a mandatory orientation event during the summer? (The CSU I attended to had it, all day event)
What is the scene in Arcata like? (Shopping, Food, Nature, Sports etc?)
Safety? (They're going to be hours away from family, I worry!)
Amtrak? (I plan to visit them at least once a month)
Any other things I should be aware of??
Hi everyone,
I’m a 25-year-old trans guy considering pursuing a Master of Science in Natural Resources at Cal Poly Humboldt. I’m reaching out to see if anyone here is currently in the program or has gone through it and could share their experiences.
I’m especially curious about: • What the program is like academically and socially. • The campus climate and surrounding area for trans and queer folks. • Housing tips for a graduate student (on-campus vs. off-campus, affordability, community, etc.).
I’d love to hear from anyone—whether you’re in the program or just familiar with Humboldt—as I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth committing to the program and what I might expect as a trans/queer person living and studying there.
Feel free to comment or DM if you’d prefer to share privately. Any advice, personal stories, or tips are greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much in advance!
