Would it be fun if we could name the machines we tamed?
So I’m basically stuck at the final boss fight and I just cannot seem to kill it. The machines keep teaming on me and doesn’t help them on ultra hard cause I’m trying to get that other trophy so if y’all have any good bills to help me out that would be great.
(Ps im not doing the remaster cause I can’t get it cause I only have a ps4)
Here’s the link to the build im using
Gaia is consistently presented as a pretty good tactician - I was pretty impressed by her deductive capabilities about many many things such as she knew what had to be done to contain Hephaestus (all her projections were spot on with what it would take), she deduced where the zeniths came from, so on and so forth.
But one error she made I couldn't really wrap my head around - it's when I think Beta or one of the humans suggests in the Gemini part of the storyline to detonate multiple energy signatures at multiple cauldrons in order to fool the Zeniths.
I appreciate Tilda's explanation which is a very smart one and I applaud the writers for writing a smart enemy, which is that the Zeniths were not fooled for even a second because they had a close eye on Hephaestus and they knew it was mission critical. What I don't understand is how did Gaia overlook their enemy's vigilance. Gaia had to have known that the Zeniths wanted Hephaestus and she had to have known that the Zeniths were capable strategic thinkers, but when Beta presents the decoy plan she just passes it off as yeah that's probably a good idea, without blinking an eye.
I would have expected Gaia to have said something like well it's worth trying, BUT the zeniths may not be fooled because X Y Z.
Sure every AI/human has blindspots, but is there something more going on here? Did I miss some detail that explains Gaia's blind acceptance of their decoy plan?
And on the same note, why didn't Erik just slaughter Aloy instead of Varl at Gemini? That's another plot point that really bothered me a lot. They had failed to kill her before so why wouldn't they leap at the opportunity to do so when presented again? They had to have known her importance by this point, so why even spend a second to kill Varl when Aloy was right there and he had no capability of disrupting or interrupting them.
Why was Tilda confused about how Sylens managed to develop a technology to down their shields?
She knew full well that Nemesis transmitted the Extinction Signal to Hades, and she also knew that Nemesis knew their tech inside and out so part of that Extinction Singnal must have had data on shield-disrupting devices to give to Hades.
She knew full well or at least could have easily deduced that Sylens hacked Hades (because she repaired Aloy's focus she knows all the events leading to Hades being defeated at Meridian).
So why did she say that Sylens was the one factor she couldn't figure out?
I get that Thebes itself was hard to find the location of and get into, but I don't get why Aloy was able to just walk up to a terminal just outside Faro's physical location swipe right and boom omega clearance is now obtained.
That's one of the times I just outright laughed at the story. Usually the story tries to be intelligent about stuff like this but were they just getting tired of trying or did I miss some detail they mentioned that makes it so easy to just walk up to a terminal and download omega clearance?
I would think Faro was a little bit paranoid about leaving that stuff out on a terminal, even if it was inside his personal bunker I'd think maybe it'd be gene locked or something at least.
I am planning to get a tallneck tattoo on my forearm. I drew up this illustration today, based on some other works and images I found in this amazing community.
Now I need some input on this sketch; how can I improve this sketch, to make it suitable as a tattoo? Is it too big, to small, to many or little details, etc?
2 times I regard as unacceptable :
in the boss fight in latopolos, aloy comments for me to attack the couplings on the stem. I tried hard looking for the thing for 3+ minutes straight having no clue what to do. I tried looking for what I thougth was a stem, no idea what a coupling looked like. I eventually had to give up and look on youtube what it meant, and this was compounded by the stress of the boss constantly hitting you.
in the quest to climb the cave and look for the special metal for the utaru metalweaver, I made it to the top of the big outcropping in the middle of the cave, and I couldn't figure out where to go next. I used the focus to look around for 5+ minutes, then I had to give up and look at youtube to realize there was some latch I happened to miss to grapple onto. I experimented gliding onto various ledges from that outcropping to no avail.
I HATE it when I'm forced to go on youtube to figure out what to do next. I gave it a very fair try being patient combing over the same area over and over and over and over and over but I was kicked out of the immersion by having to open a browser to solve my problems.
Forbidden West was released 3 years ago this month. To celebrate, I have updated my phone wallpaper to one of my favorite images and will be replaying the game all month. Anyone else have other celebration ideas?
I was thinking it would be very cool to get a volcanic biome with lava. It would have to be somewhat credible and make it very dangerous for Aloy to wander in. I have no doubt they would nail it with their engine.
I would also like to have some explorable caves, deep underwater.
Do you have some wishes?
I finally got around to playing HZD since the Remaster came out and I got far enough into the game to hear Lance Reddick's voice and I almost cried. I just wanted to say R.I.P. Lance Reddick and this game is awesome!
Hey yall what weapon do you guys recommend just for dealing damage besides bolt blasters? I have kind of been going inbetween shredder gauntlets and spike throwers but I don't even know if those are the right answers! Thank you
Like I’ve seen dumb things but this how?! Like I was farming the log pile trial then the grazers started running towards the blasts that my blast sling made like what?! The game devs need to fix their game
Is the PS5 version of Horizon Zero Dawn a complete edition of the Horizon Zero Dawn game?
(idea: is ps4 horizon zero dawn complete edition is same as the ps5 horizon zero dawn in terms of content?)
so i had been thinking of getting the remaster for about a couple weeks now since i recently got my ps5, and today i was finally like “fuck it, it’s only ten dollars and i play this game often.”
i imported my profile, ng+ loadout and save files successfully, then loaded my main file to change a few things. after i went back to the dashboard i realized none of the trophies popped. i even went back to my file and then opened all the tabs in the notebook to see if it would trigger the trophies. it didn’t.
will i need to start from scratch when i eventually start a new playthrough, or is there another trick i can do to convince the game that i’ve already obtained all the trophies in the original?
it wasn’t like forbidden west where it automatically gave me the trophies after importing my ps4 save data to the ps5 version. it makes sense though, since this is an actual remaster instead of a regular ps5 upgrade.
If they ever made a movie what would it be about. Personally I'd like the movie to be set at the time with Ted Faro and Elisabet and about the Faro plague. I just think it would be kinda cool to see the Horus' actually alive and fighting and the progression of making Gaia.
Having an issue where trails of white shapes will appear along the ground in areas where it snows. I thought maybe it was just part of the game but it just seems really out of the blue. Ps5 remaster for context. Would post videos/screenshot but this sub makes it nearly impossible to do so. If anyone has any insight, it would be appreciated
I just beat HZD after waiting about 4 years to play it
Would anyone who loves horizon recommend Forspoken as a game? I’m curious because I’ve seen many semi-negative reviews.
Sold all my horns a long time ago and I haven’t finished the main storyline yet. Can’t go back to the FB.
Playing burning shores and encounter a level 65 Apex Slaughterspine for the first time ever. I’m just hiding and looking at it. Super excited and a little scared. Not only will this be the most powerful beast I have ever fought in this game, but I also really need his heart for an upgrade.
So in my excitement, running to find a campfire to quicksave the game, I fall down a little ledge and the impact immediately gets his attention. Red exclamation mark, Slaughterspine music starts and everything. Of course I had planned on attacking in stealth, and I wasn’t ready at all. I have a little panic attack and start running, at which point I accidentally fall off a massive cliff and nearly die (you probably know the site I’m talking about).
So I’m like “Fuck, that was close. Luckily I can still get to that campfire and save the game to kill this bastard.”
Made it to the campfire and saved, and I start creeping up to the site to find some tall grass. I am once again beside myself with glee and anticipation.
I spot him again and scan him, only to find that in the time it took me to get back he had changed into a level 45 plain old regular Slaughterspine. God dammit.
I want to get Zero Dawn on PC, but I found out that you can only get the remastered version, which costs 50€. I remember when just a few months ago, the game would cost around €15, but now, they delisted the original game, and you are only able to purchase the remaster, which costs an absurd amount of money (Spening $50 for an 8 year old game is insane).
Is there a way purchase the game for its original price, or at least less than $50? I'm willing to spend 25 to 30 dollars/Euro max.
Thanks :)
It's a small moment. But when the Ceo demanded that Aloy wear the clothes of Sobeck, the first time I played i thought the two archers pointed their weapons at Aloy and was originally wondering why she was worried (not like she couldn't take them). But a friend who's been playing pointed out that they were pointed AT Alva. I looked up a clip and noticed it this time.
A small detail but it changed how i viewed the scene and caught on to Alva's look during that scene this time. God the Ceo really sucked.
So now it makes me wonder about other small details or moments i could have missed or what others have.
I've heard this accusation lofted at her and wonder if it has any validity. I love her character which makes me believe I'm biased against her being a Mary Sue.
Thoughts?
Has anyone else experienced the 3rd power cell not where it’s supposed to be? This is driving me crazy! I’m on the Looming Shadow mission. Have I not progressed far enough or what? It’s the power cell that should be in Grave Hoard. Just missing
there's this very light little theme that will play in game while exploring, with a repeating little melody of what almost sounds like a water-drum
You can hear it in The Daunt and the Tenakth Lowlands a lot
Was thinking a lot about the world of Horizon and how the story could have had a more emotional impact maybe, I love Aloy as a character but think it would be a cooler juxtaposition if Elizabeth wasn’t held up as this saint like figure mostly in the second game, and if she was actually maybe even more of a villain, and Aloys doubts would be more about rising above her genetics to prove she is her own person who is a true hero who saved the world not because of her genes, but because of who she is as a person. In canon Aloy is almost treated as the reincarnation of Elizabet which I feel takes away some of her agency, although I also think it’s a very cool concept and weight she has to carry on her shoulders. Also Beta seems to be the main character to show that genetics don’t equal who you are, although I think delivering that message through the main character would hit even harder.
I’m a huge Metal Gear fan so I may be getting influenced by that as well lol, sort of like a Big Boss/Solid Snake relationship. Elizabet also being partially responsible for the fate of the world was a big plot point in the first game, but I think emphasizing that more would be a cool mirror to show how the greed of corporations and the megarich iron grip on the regular citizens of Earth led to the downfall of the world, but the new humans of the reborn Earth were all just regular people who saved it by simply being good people. Elizabet instead is more treated as the true savior, even though the population of the old world probably did not think the same. I know Ted Farro is in that role for this series, but since he has no direct connection to Aloy it doesn’t hit as hard on an emotionally personal level.
Just putting ideas out there, love this series, I think the lost mother figure idea they did for Elizabet was executed perfectly, just like to theorize on different ways Aloys story could have gone!
I absolutely LOVE this franchise. Spread over both games I think I spent over 600 hours on them. I love the story. I love the in depth combat mechanics and all the many possibilities. I love the characters. The lore. Everything.
But the one thing I hear so often when I talk to people about this game is that they tried it, but couldn’t get hooked.
I hear this so often, that I wonder what it is.
I can’t imagine not wanting to know “wtf happened to this world?”
Does it take to long with all the side content before the main story line actually gets going?
Is it just “not for some people”?
What was the point in the game that you got “hooked”?
Did it happens the first time you played it, or did you have to go back into it? If so, what was different the last time around?
What do you say when somebody says they couldn’t get into it?
[edit] Loving all the input and answers and discussion. So many interesting insights. Thanks everyone! It’s been a while since I played. And talking so much about it. I think I’ll start another playthrough. Haha!
Got this guy for my birthday from my bf. Was so excited as they retired him and I wasn’t able to snag one in time. By far my favorite machine next to the Burrowers. I hope they release more Lego machines.
