We are preparing our home in the event we sell and relocate. We currently have 5 bedrooms upstairs. All of the flooring is made of parquet wood tiles except one room that we were going to convert into a bathroom, which has white ceramic tiles. We were trying to replace the flooring in that room to match the rest of the upstairs but are out of luck. The style is "vintage" and no longer available. We would have to spend a lot of money to buy bits and pieces. If we used wood flooring, the pattern would be different which would seem odd. We are at a loss about what to do. We can carpet over the tile. Is it okay to have one room carpeted? We can try to piece it together, but the prices are ridiculous upwards of $110 per square foot and we'd need nearly 300 sq ft. Any suggestions?
I currently have a 42 wide x 36 inch high window in my garage that I am wanting to replace with a 36 x 36 window. (Namely due to not being able to source a casement window or tilt & turn window for the 42 wide x 36 high dimension and 36x36 being the closest for readily available.) My thinking was to trim it out with an extra 3 inches of white PVC trim on each side of the window to match the existing exterior trim.
My wife though is concerned by the appearance from the exterior of having a smaller window when the exterior side already is trimmed out... Namely that it wouldn't match the windows elsewhere on the house. A decade ago we replaced all the other windows but sadly didn't replace the garage window at the time. So this lone window already doesn't match but her design concern is that the wide trim would look too odd.
Any thoughts/ideas on how to make the window appear better/not-out-of-pace with the 'extra wide' trim? And short of taking out the existing trim and re-siding that portion of the garage.
As an alternative to centering it with 3 inches on each side, I was thinking of some more creative ways like putting the window on one side and then using the spare 6 inches to install a 4~6 inch exhaust fan duct for garage exhaust fan, a PVC pass-through for any cor uses in the future, etc. Or maybe something like a vertical window planter?
Any other ideas for how to best present a smaller sized window within an existing exterior trim? Thanks!
At home we have a blank wall that’s about 15 x 10 ft that looks rather empty and I was thinking of projecting art and pictures onto it.
Any recommendations on projectors for this purpose? I’m thinking of mounting the projector on the opposite wall and it might be at a bit of a sideways angle, so preferably a projector that can correct/adjust for this.
Thanks!
Anyone planning to use shipping containers to build an ideal home?
Is this too many ceiling lights? Room is 19x12. We did two rows of 4 lights for 8 total. Now we're not sure about it.
Thoughts? Need to decide by tomorrow ...
Thank you
I'm replacing mineral fiber ceiling tiles with PVC to make it more aesthetically pleasing. Is there a universe where I would keep the mineral tiles and simply put the PVC tiles in front of them? Thinking of this from a sound dampening perspective but unsure if it's worth it or a smart thing to do in general
I’m planning to redo my kitchen but trying to keep costs low. A lot of the cabinets I’ve seen in big stores are more expensive than I thought.
I found https://cabinetselect.com/ while searching online. They offer discounted kitchen cabinets, and the prices look good, but I’m not sure about the quality or service.
Has anyone tried them? Or do you know other places to get good cabinets at a lower price? Would love some advice. Thanks!
