A way to generate Table of Contents without H3

I have a very long brew, and need a way to generate a table of contents only from H1 and H2's. Currently, i can only generate it from H1 to H3, and then manually erease from text the lines generated from H3's.

The buttons in TextEditor->Individual Inclusion/Individual Exclusion don't seem to work. I tried to insert them before generating new ToC, i tried to generate the ToC inside these blocks, but can't seem to get these to work.

Sci-Fi??

Is there a version of the homebrewery for sci-fi? Or a different product very similar? I LOVE the homebrewery, but the theme is built for fantasy and currently I'm doing sci-fi so I'd really like a way to change the theme or a similar website to use

I created this Campaign One Pager templete in Homebrewery based off of Mike of Sly Flourish. Hopefully it'll be helpful to some. Here is the link: https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/L7ky-uk2VvY_

Does anyone know how to make a Homebrewery PDF fillable?

Hey all!

Don't know if I'm onto a losing option here but I would like to know if it's possible to make fillable fields on a Homebrewery page which are picked up by the PDF exporter!

Essentially, I'd like t oexport a PDF which I can then fill out with notes etc. without going into the HB code to do it!

Can it be done?

Copying Markdown from 5e Tools broke Homebrewery for me

I copied a block of markdown from 5e Tools, which has worked fine for me before. However, this time it seems to have broken Homebrewery. Which is bad, but the real issue is that the same broken page is now set as what I get when I select "New File". So I am completely locked out of making new working blank homebrew pages. I've tried clearing my cache, but that didn't work.

The tarotist -- a Homebrew class

I am currently working on a homebrew class for dnd and its taken me a while to make. I am still not fully finished, but I would like to hear some feedback. I took some inspiration from the advancement system in the WN Lord of the mysteries but not a ton. The class is around 35 pages long and around 23 thousand words. I have tried to playtest it a bit by simulating some battles with a friend of mine in a tournament style campaign where we fight once at every level and he has won most of the fight. (he is playing a bear heart barb). I did not pay atention to the spelling in the class. I have made up to level 13 and most of level 14 as of posting this.

Auto Link to a Header/Page from URL

Been searching through and can't find this. The closest I found was the feature request for Brew Transclusion.

Is it possible to link to a specific header or page with a URL? Say I provide a URL to someone and it opens the page and auto scrolls to the Geography page.

Smart linking to a specific page?

Is it possible to specifically call the page number of a specific header in your document so that you don't need to continuously change it every time you add new content to the document? I'm specifically speaking about large projects like books and such.

Shifting PageNumber and Footer for printing bleed

I need to add a 3mm bleed area for my pdf for printing, I've successfully managed to add that, and move the footer image as part of it. However I can't get the FootNote text and the page number to move an equivalent amount.

Anything I do to the pageNumber element does it for all pages not taking into account odd & even layouts.

Update: I've got it working on Even numbered pages, but it's not being replicated on Odd pages

New Logo? Submit ideas on Github or in comments

Hey, there has been a kind of long running discussion about possibly changing the Homebrewery and/or NaturalCrit logos and I was just thinking it might be handy to get an infusion of ideas from the general audience rather than the same old stale ideas from crusty developers.

Looking for likely two things:

  • A square logo that works at ~30*30px and larger
  • A rectangular logo + name (could just be the logo with "homebrewery" after it).

The whole thing is kind of wishy-washy and probably nothing will be decided for a long time. But the discussion has mostly happened here on a Github Discussion. If you have a github account, this is the best way to contribute. If you don't want to use Github, you can just comment on this post and link ideas from Imgur (I guess reddit allows image uploads nowadays?).

Anything used would be subject to some sort of license (the project is MIT license, but likely something like logos and branding could be slightly more restrictive).

The logos would be used in the subreddit header and across the homebrewery site itself.

Adding an offset to page numbers in the editor

One of the minor struggles (in that I can't easily automate it) is making decent sized homebrewery documents with title pages and then having to manually adjust the page numbers in the table of contents.

I can add code to the first page to change the auto-generated page numbers to skip the first pages:

<style> body { counter-reset: page-numbers -2; } </style>

But when I make a TOC using the menu, all the pages haven't picked up on this!

It would be amazing to have a page number offset scrollbutton at the top which affected both the auto page numbers and the TOC generation!

Local install of Homebrewery does not support HTTPS

I followed the installation instructions to the letter and all modern browsers attempt to force to HTTPS and refuse to load HTTP. This obviously makes the app fail locally, as no cert is generated.

I generated a cert and attempted to rewrite the startup process to use the config, but was unsuccessful.

Can someone please document how to run this locally using the node server rather than using Docker now that Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and others are eliminating the ability to access anything over HTTP even with NODE_ENV=local?

Adding item to menu drop down

Newbie question: if I am using a template/previous file and there are drop downs for items (say spell card) how do I copy that and edit the new one (say long spell card) so it shows in that drop down menu?

Editing in the style editor isn’t making it show up.

Does anyone know how to resize a png after it's in Homebrewery? I need it to shrink to fit.

I added a png from Imgur through !alt-text and the image on the homebrewery screen goes way outside the margins. My other images are the same size, all made in canva, converted to png, and posted to imgur. For some reason the last image doesn't fit the page and I don't know how to shrink it. Last page. https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/HG8NkptYUshV

(bonus points: how do I get rid of the scrolly line at the bottom of my map pages?)

Account Issues

I don't really use Reddit (made this amount just for this), but Reddit doesn't let you send messages until the account has passed certain checks and I can't wait the amount of time they want 'cause I need to prep my campaign materials.

I need help. I'm trying not to panic, but I can't log into my account on Homebrewery. I want to message the mods (as the FAQ states) but my account won't pass muster for messages. So I just have to hope that a post will do. I don't know why none of my passwords work, considering it has to be a password I made, but I seen to have outwitted myself with it.

I can add my username, but I'm not sure I want to post that publicly (though it can be guessed from my username here pretty easily by someone with backend access).

Can't Alter Quote Appearance?

I'm trying to change the appearance of quotes so that there's a border on the left. Nothing I've tried seems to work though? I've worked through every variation of targeting quote/blockquote I can think of and none seem to edit alter the quotes outside of devtools.

Has anyone found a solution to this issue?

Gamefound RPG adventure

Hey everyone, I'm super excited to share my latest project with you:

https://gamefound.com/en/projects/roll-for-treasure/shivering-in-the-cold?ref=search

Roll for Treasure invites you to embark on a chilling journey into the frozen depths of Lovecraftian horror with Shivering in the Cold. This immersive role-playing adventure book is designed for the most popular RPG system, transporting your party into a world of dread, suspense, and unspeakable horrors.

"A chilling whisper echoes through the windswept peaks of the northern mountains. A small hamlet, once nestled amidst the snow-kissed crags, has fallen silent. Its inhabitants, like shadows vanishing into the twilight, have vanished without a trace. No word, no sign, no echo of their lives remains. You, brave adventurers, are called upon to unravel the mystery that shrouds this forsaken place. But beware, for the secrets that lie within may be more terrifying than any beast that roams the wild."

I hope you enjoy my latest creation. Please let me know what you think. Sending warm wishes and happy adventures.

PHB 2024 Class Emblems

Hey, Does anyone know where or how I'd be able to get versions of the PHB 2024 Class Emblems that appear on the top of each of the class chapters? I creating a guidebook for my homebrew world and I have new subclasses for the different classes. I was wanting to do something similar to how the new PHB has with the summaries of the different classes at the beginning of the chapter and I want to use the Class emblems for it as well as find a way to make custom ones for my two new classes. Any help would be appreciated!

Spreading a table of contents over multiple pages.

Hello I was wondering how to spread the new table of contents feature over multiple pages. Right now it cuts off part of the entries and wondered how to continue the format onto the next page.
