Getting Started:

  • Chat with the community on the Hoggit Discord

  • New to DCS? Check out the Hoggit Wiki for tons of great info from everything from setup/config to airfield charts to threat profiles! This is a community driven project, so please help us keep it up-to-date: Hoggit Wiki

  • Questions about DCS/BMS should generally go in the weekly stickied Questions post.

Dedicated Servers:

We currently are hosting 4 multiplayer servers:

Georgia At War (GAW): A dynamic PvE mission that pits players against a custom-scripted AI REDFOR Commander who will direct enemy forces to stop your advances. The mission also features real world weather that is set at every restart, as well as persistent state saving between sessions.

  • GAW Server Info:

  • Password: hoggit1fw

  • SRS: dcs.hoggitworld.com (Autoconnect is working)

  • GAW GCI Map

Persian Gulf At War (PGAW): Just like GAW, PGAW is a dynamic PvE mission that pits players against a custom-scripted AI REDFOR Commander that is set in the Persian Gulf. The mission has the same feature set as GAW, but with the added requirement that SRS is mandatory.

  • PGAW Server Info:

  • Name: Hoggit - Persian Gulf At War

  • Password: hoggit1fw

Rank your played campaigns from best to worst

Curious to know what everybodys favorite and least favorite campaigns are. And I mean all of them, included with module, paid campaign, user files, etc. Not looking at any specific metric other than how much you enjoyed the campaign. I'll start with mine.

  1. Fear the Bones - F-14
  2. Speed and Angels - F-14
  3. Wolfpack - P-47
  4. Zone 5 - F-14
  5. Kursant - L-39
  6. Constant Peg - MiG-21
  7. Ultimate Argument - Su-27
  8. Cold War Warrior (short user files version) - Su-25
  9. A-4 in/over Nam (user files) - Community A-4
  10. Over the Hump - MiG-29

10/DNF. Battle of Krasnodar - MiG-21

How would you rank your played campaigns?

WTS this F-14 RIO button box (UK only)

Crosspost from /r/hotas.

I made this thing a few years ago, haven't yet used it in anger because of not being able to commit to regular multiplayer, so I want to send it to a good home. £250 plus shipping. It's 5-10kg and about 1m long so shipping will probably be £20-30 but I haven't checked that yet.

It looks like this now, with black laminated cards with white labels for the buttons instead of the placeholders in the images.

The gallery has some information about it and its construction but basically it's an aluminium box coated with black nylon, with a couple of 'wings' to clamp it to a desk edge. It has buttons and rotary switches/encoders for most of the core RIO functions and a small LCD screen which mirrors the state of the CAP drum, and CAP buttons which illuminate to match those in the sim.

It's driven by 3 Arduino Leonardos which emulate joysticks, so binding the buttons is straightforward. The screen, rotary switches, rotary encoders (not 100% on that last one - it's been a while) and the illumination for the CAP buttons and "hot trigger" launch button are run by an Arduino Mega 2560 via DCS-BIOS.

I make no promises this will work perfectly and not burn your house down. It's very rough and ready. I have not used it for several years but it has been stored undisturbed. If there's any problems I expect it will be with the Mega, as DCS-BIOS has probably changed a lot since I wrote my sketches.

I'm not offering any support but I'll help get it working if I can. Don't buy this if you don't have some familiarity with DCS-BIOS and coding. I wouldn't have been able to do it myself without extensive googling and an overly high threshold for giving up.

Obviously I'm happy to share the sketches with the buyer but the buttons (at least) should work out of the box.

I expect there will be questions, so have at it.

AI-controlled planes seem to have better performance than player controlled

I've been playing through the Su-25T missions where you're accompanied by another Su-25T, controlled by AI. It seems that the AI-controlled one consistently has better performance than mine: when taking off it shoots past me, when flying navigation I have 89% RPM while it has 68% to maintain the same speed.

Has the AI-controlled one been given upgraded engines or something?

Server recruitment

Hi there. My name is Echo"vapour" I'm with a growing squadron that's looking for pilots of all skill and knowledge levels; all looking to contribute to something exciting. We're an organization that offers dynamic missions, training missions at a squad-level (per airframe type), and ever-developing professional courses that cover a lot from procedures, tactics, and some niche-level items.

What this means for you: If you're a new pilot getting into DCS, this an excellent opportunity to get with a great group of people that have all sorts of knowledge levels that are willing to get you kickstarted with your airframe. And, if you're already an experienced pilot, we're always looking for people that also like to share that knowledge and/or even instruct others in those skillsets.

For our operations, we host them on Saturdays most weeks, including dynamic campaigns for most airframes!

Best of all, are our timezones. Our organization provides squadron practices currently on the following levels: East Coast, Central US, Eurpoe, Middle East, and AU times. We are currently also looking for players to help broaden our West Coast timezone, so truly, across the globe!

Lastly, Most organizations have requirements for membership. Ours are pretty lenient and basic. You must be 18+, Schedules can be hectic in real life, and we do our best to accommodate for most timezones/ lifestyles.

If this sounds like a good fit for you or you're interested in seeing more of what I mentioned above, let me know!

CH47, no pedals

Dear all, i just learned the Ch47 is due to be released next month, I‘d love to get that, but as i only fly FBW jets, i have not felt the need to get rudder pedals yet. My only other helo experience is the Huey, which i found way to hard with Stick twist alone. Now i know at least that usually on a helo the pedals control the tail rotor, as the Hook doesn‘t have one, does it still require constant input (or trimming) or are the Pedals just used for turning? Thank you in advance for any input anyone could provide!

Georgia at War Attributing False Losses

What's up fellas, hoping you can help me out. I've run into an issue on Georgia at War where I've been credited with losses that haven't occurred. In the Tacview file, you'll see my aircraft (Nukem 1-1 | Messiah) taking off from Anapa at the top of the screen loaded with JDAMs, AIM120's, and a tank. After I takeoff, I see the MiGs to the south. I jettison my JDAMs and tank, and engage. I fire 2 missiles, destroying 2 bandits. Shortly thereafter, around 0:27 in the video, I see a notification that I've been damaged, and then destroyed. I checked the scorecard, and I was in fact credited with a loss... Anybody know what's up?

Thanks,

Nuke

F-16 TGP

Coming from the Hornet, the TGP on the F-16 feels schizophrenic. I’ll make a tgt point, then turn to extend then come back on for a bomb run and it’s pointing nowhere near the tgt point I had made. Sometimes it starts pointing backwards of the jet, sometimes it dosen’t. The F/A-18 tgp feels intuitive most of the time and it generally does what you expect it to do.

Does it feel this way to anyone else, or am I just not using it correctly?

OB / Stable Combined Question

Can someone give me a summary of how to make sure that I’m not wasting valuable SSD space now that the two steams of DCS have been combined? I’ve not seen anything that describes a method to clean up - I still have an OB and stable directory and when running DCS have a shortcut that I use to the multithreaded instance. I’m certain that a whole lot of space is being wasted with superseded versions but have no way of figuring this out. Any advice would be awesome.

Campaign not updating after recent patch

In the most recent patch (2.9.4.53990), there were some changes to Reflected's campaigns that include interactive checklists. However, after updating DCS, the campaign is still using the old checklist system. I have diabled all mods, tried restarting the campaign, and even repairing DCS world. Is there something else I could try to get the updated campaign?

Does DCS need more than 60fps? It's not Counterstrike or Fortnite 🤔

Even In vr on my g2 90fps is yes, amazing, but I can fly and avoid puking at 45-60 fps and I will crank Up graphics instead so, more graphics and if I'm at 45-50fps I'm more than ok.

This thread seemed to have lost a bit of interest but has had a trickle of people replying they've still got this issue. Reposting so it might receive some much needed attention. A few mates and myself were experiencing it tonight!

OH-6's in Multiplayer

Any way we can get some OH-6 mods added to some servers like the Aerobatics Online, 4YA, etc...

Went through this with the AH-6j, but that was way less payware-quality. There are already multiple other mods in these servers, so I don't get why it would be a problem.

The mod is great, if you haven't tried it. Would really like to fly it with others. Thanks.

How to change settings without opening dcs

Not sure if possible. I changed dcs to launch in mfd camera mfd to export the mfds ingame. However now when I start up dcs all I get is a black screen. Have tried doing a repair but no luck.

Is there something I can do short of a fresh install to change back to 1 screen dcs?

VR comparison - Reverb G2 vs Meta Quest 3

G'day all.

I own a Reverb G2 and a Pico 4.

My intention was to replace the G2 with the Pico 4, but the clarity I get with the G2 (despite the Fresnel lens), is miles ahead of the Pico.

How is the Quest 3 compared to the G2 in clarity for anyone that has/had both?

Warthog throttle buttons

Something Ive noticed with the switches on the warthog throttle is that to toggle what its bound to, I need to switch it up, and then to toggle it again I need to switch it down and then up again. Is there any way to make it so when its switched up the toggle is 'on' and when switched down its 'off'?

Im not sure if Ive explained it super well, if not I will try to elaborate better

What does HB's component based modelling actually mean?

HB has described their new component based simulation framework in their Phantom video series, with the infamous example of them tracking individual components of the altimeter; drums, needles, etc. They also mentioned that the entire aircraft is composed of a high number of these components.

But what does this actually mean in terms of simulation fidelity and gameplay? Does this mean that as you're flying the Phantom all of these will be individually defined, tracked and interacted with in some sort of dynamic and complex manner? Does this mean any of these systems can work in a suboptimal way (or even fail?) with realistic consequences?

Or is this just another way to describe object oriented programming without a noticeable and measurable gain in fidelity? What do you expect from this framework?
