Hi-power storage case options?

(TL;DR Tell me about your favorite hi-power hard case, and where the hell I'm supposed to find one, please.)

Hello!

I'll preface this by stating outright that my knowledge of firearms + accessories is extremely limited, so my apologies for any questions I may ask that seem particularly obvious or silly.

Christmas is rapidly approaching, and one of the offhand remarks my partner has made a few times in the past has been "I really need to get a case for my hi-power." or something like that (I just have "Browning Hi-Power Case" written down in my "gift ideas" list).

He doesn't just have "a" hi-power, however - he has MULTIPLE hi-powers. His goal is to have one from each country where they've been manufactured. I've sneakily sussed out that, out of what he has, the Belgian Mark III is his favorite, but I'm still not sure where to go next when it comes to cases.

I don't know if he meant that he'd like a case for each of them, or just one special one to carry one of them in if he takes it out to the range. I'm assuming he wants a fitted hard case, at the very least. I know the bodies are a little different on the different models - do hi-power hard cases generally fit multiple body styles, or do I have to look for specific cases for each type? Is there a really special (factory original/collectible/whatever) case that he might be referring to when he mutters to himself about cases?

Based on the googling I've done so far, I know that there are smaller, fitted, all-plastic factory cases out there somewhere, but I haven't seen any for sale (on eBay or Gunbroker).

I've found one site that has custom foam cutouts and a few different case options - all of which are larger, nice, weatherproof cases (https://mycasebuilder.com/mcb-pre-made-designs/browning-hi-power-mark-i-i-i-custom-pistol-case-seahorse-se300/?srsltid=AfmBOorMX8xQWYhqhcxljVwDSQMvglucyCpMpsk2wzxn\_b3phHrbzNFN).

I know that space in a gun safe is always a consideration, and that they're not the easiest to maximize usable volume in because everything that goes in there is pretty awkwardly shaped.

Do you have a favorite case/storage solution? Is it better to just buy foam and make one myself? Would I be looking for something particular that the typical hi-power collector covets? AM I MAKING THIS WAY TOO COMPLICATED? (probably yes)

A couple of years ago I spent many hours researching AK47 bayonets, so that I could find the right model, with the right bakelite pattern, with matching scabbard/body numbers, from the right factory, in good condition. I'm rather perplexed as to how I could figure that out, but am now completely stumped by a gun case... but here we are.

Thanks a bunch!

How is the Hi Power Apex Tactical Trigger?

I just bought a Girsan, and I’m curious about aftermarket triggers to improve the trigger feel. Does anyone have experience with the Apex trigger vs the BH trigger?

Also, is it better to bite the bullet and just send the gun over to Mk3? Anyone have an idea of how much that work costs?

Maintenance, Wear Parts, and Dry Firing Precautions if Any?

Hi I'm contemplating getting a Girsan P35 PI OPS or CZ P-09 Nocturne C, the latter I know of some of the quirks with CZ designs. But what I'm unsure of is maintenance requirements, which parts are basically going to wear out and need replacing (besides springs) and do any special requirements need to be taken for dry fire practice?

As the CZ P-09 Nocturne C design can be traced back to the CZ 75 with the firing pin roll pin flaw, which mandates the use of snap caps and/or o-rings for dry firing.

So what are there and High Power specific maintenance things, parts to check on, or special precautions for dry fring? Just let me know in the comments below

Argentinian FN Licensed HP

It’s found it’s new home in a Vedder AIWB sidecar holster, so far it carry’s great, may try to switch out safety and grips over the next year. Have an 18 round magazine in the sidecar at the moment.

Just picked up my first Hi-Power, an Inglis L9a1, for my birthday and so far couldn’t be more pleased. I have a couple of questions though:

  1. First of all, do Inglis manufactured pistols work well with magazines made by different companies? I’ve looked around, but factory OEM Inglis mags seem scarce. If so, what would be some decent spares to pick up?

  2. Secondly, am I able to replaces the grips? Inglis makes a few models with wooden furniture but, and forgive me if I’m incorrect in my Hi-Power history, they seem to be derived from the early production FN Hi-Powers and I don’t know if the parts are interchangeable. Also, I checked SDS Imports’s website, and they don’t seem to sell grips directly. I think the monochrome black looks great, but my aesthetic preference is for wood.

Thank you for your time.

Which model is the best or your favorite?

If you could only own one Hi-Power, which one would it be and why?

Thoughts on sending an FM to MK3?

Grabbed this for $250 at the local shop, it needed a serious cleaning but was easy to do a full strip.

What do you guys think about sending this in to MK3 for a work up. I and well as mk3 know that these tend to wear quickly. Do I sink the money in now or find and send a better quality host?

Gun issues

Hi guys I recently acquired a feg hi power (pjk) and after my first trip to the range it was jamming/ double feeding quite a bit so I went home and cleaned and oiled it up pretty good.

yesterday I went to shoot again with higher grain ammo and it still double feeds, and I also feel as I’m “outrunning” the trigger, it’s pretty much impossible to rapid fire this pistol as half the trigger pulls don’t do anything.

Any guidance? sorry, not too knowledgeable about these pistols

Anybody have any experience with the Inglis Nickel HP?

Anything about the accuracy or glow sight or trigger? Overall build quality? Would it be worth a buy if I really wanted an HP for carry/home defense?

I went with Pau Ferro grips on my color case hardened Inglis MFG P-35. What do we think?

Just win a MAC P-35

I threw out a low ball bid on a NIB MAC Inglis P-35 and I won!! I thought I’d be picked off by one of you snipers and never thought my bid would win. $325 plus 15% bidders fee - $373 plus shipping. Crazy that I won. It will go in the safe and only come out for my wwii range days with my 1911s, walther p.38 and my other hi-power or partnered up with my enfield no.4 mark 2.

I picked up an SA-35 a couple of weeks ago… I immediately had my local ‘smith put on the R3D 2.0 sights from XS and ordered a used set of Pachmayr Signature grips for that 1980’s look… (My Lord were they the most difficult grips I’ve ever had to wrestle with)

Custom Hi-Power Smiths?

I purchased a MKIII BHP recently that was lightly used (lucky break after lurking for years). It goes without saying that I quickly fell in love with it, but miss some of the modern amenities (sights, better trigger, etc.).

I was searching the internet and found recommendations for BHP smiths, but most that I've reached out to have closed their books (I have not reached out to Novak or Nighthawk). Some of the smiths recommended others that can do the work but none of them had worked on BHPs.

Can anyone recommend BHP smiths that have done great work?

I am also very new to the custom-work world, so apologies for any ignorance in advance. Thank you!

New Hi-Power owner

Greetings all,

I have always wanted a Hi-Power and, on impulse I bid on this on Gunbroker and won. I should have it in my hands in a couple of days. I'm pretty stoked - I have no info on it other than the serial number, which I believe dates it to 1987, which is the date advertised by the seller. In my pre-ownership mind, I am thinking of all the things I want to do it, which at the moment, consists of maybe some nice wood grips and maybe all new springs. Of course the first things I will do with it, is inspect it and shoot it. I haven't searched this subreddit yet, so I'm sure this question is asked a lot, but, what do you fine folks think should be on the "to do" list for new Hi-Power owners?

FM stovepipe problem?

Hey all,

I recently brought my FM to range. I ended up shooting my other pistol and only had the chance to put 50 rounds through the FM, Winchester and Geco ball 9mm.

During this I experienced two stove pipes aka failures to extract.

The gun has slight patina, but It is hard to say how much the gun has been actually shot. May be it is just that I need to properly clean it with elbow grease.

So what could be the culprit for the stove pipes? Should I seek to replace springs, exctractor or something?

Do I need another HP? No. Am I going to pass on a color case hardened HP? Also no. Now I need to get some really nice wood grips and probably never shoot it.
