I've seen a few flyers against Crystal Lett (running for state representative) put out by the Ohio House Republican Alliance (OHRA). I don't know a whole lot about Lett's views and policies, but it seems like the so-called strikes against her are pretty far-fetched, sleazy, and lazy.
I just wanted to bring some counter-research to the points in the flyer in case anyone is taking it at face value.
I'm trying to have an overhead light/fan installed in a bedroom, but want to work with a reliable electrician. Does anyone have suggestions or recommendations for ones they've worked with?
Some of the Baby Boom generation who have benefited from from the massively lower cost of schools, college, housing, healthcare, and pretty much everything else during the 1970’s, 80s, and 90s are now trying to convince everyone that we need to have a major layoff of teachers, increase in class sizes, and slipping of educational standards so our kids and families suffer the consequences of the absurdly short sighted economic policies of the baby boomer generation. Just because they’ve sucked the value out of every public good they themselves benefitted from and directed all the tax money to huge prescription drug benefits for old people and tax cuts for themselves doesn’t mean we need to tell our kids they’re SOL. Everyone is going to have to cough up a little bit more for the next 10 to 15 years to keep educational and other standard up while we try to overcome the rapacious imbalance between the benefits they have given themselves and the costs they have left on our ledger. An increase in property based taxes inherently claws some of that money back to use for our kids since they are the ones who own much of the land and property at absurdly low interest and tax rates. We are voting for the levy and anything else that statistically takes money from wealthy older citizens on a sliding scale and uses that money for the public benefit of the generation below us in very specific and defined way like school investment. We are Gen X and we are doing fine. I want to see some (and it doesn’t have to be a lot), but some value transferred from grandpa and grandma to grandson and granddaughter. Our grandparents did it for us on a massive scale. Time for the boomers to step up and do the right thing. Good schools are the definition of community. That’s where everything starts. We can and should afford this.
Does anyone remember what the Caresource building in hilliard (Mill Run) used to be called or leased to around the 2000's. I worked there and was telling someone about that building but it's lost on me the name and for the life of me can't remember. And its driving me crazy lol.
Anyone have a reputable furnace company? Thanks!
The Central Ohio market showed signs of slowing throughout September as the median sales price dropped from $343,000 to $340,000. New Albany had the highest sales price at $740,000 and the fastest moving with an average of 3.5 days on market. Reynoldsburg showed the most price reductions selling at 83.6% of the original sales price and averaging 16 days on market. Hi Everyone!
I’m a dental student at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and am currently accepting new patients. I can provide standard and deep cleanings, fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, root canals on front teeth, and tooth whitening. For those interested in implants, the oral surgery or periodontic residents will be able to place the implant, and I can complete the crown. Our work is checked by a licensed dentist throughout the appointment.
Our prices are approximately 40-50% off compared to other offices, and we accept most insurances (including Medicaid, Delta Dental, and OSU Student Health Insurance). If your insurance is out of network, we can send a prior authorization to see what will be covered.
If you or anyone you know are interested, please DM me. Depending on your availability, I could see you as early as next week!
Thanks

My wife and I regularly attend the PTO meetings at our kid's school and learned a good deal about the levy and why they're asking for the increases. I was already planning to vote for the levy, but hearing the details and seeing how the numbers work made me more sure that this isn't the district just trying to get more money. There's a real plan for things like improving the flow of students through the district by adding a third 6th grade building, and how the operating costs work.
Definitely worth your time if you have questions or concerns. Both folks running things were very open and didn't shy away from any questions that were asked.
You can now view the potential increase in your property taxes should Issue #46 and/or Issue #39 pass.

Any insight as to what it's like living in Highland Meadows Condos? Is it a younger, rowdier crowd or older & quieter? Any crime issues, besides porch pirates? It looks very nice but just seeking input from the community. TIA!
I just attended a levy meeting where they really focused on misconceptions people have. I wanted to see if anyone had any genuine questions regarding the levy and I would do my best to answer them! I am not associated with the school board or an employee of the school, simply a parent who wants to get accurate information out there!
I am a Hilliard resident since 2021 and a republican leaning moderate (also new to reddit but finding good info here so wanted to share some as well). I support LGBTQ people and don't want the government involved in how or when I have kids (my wife and I used IVF and also experienced a miscarriage where a D&C was needed). I also support public schools and don't like my taxpayer dollars being sent to pay for private schools (you all do realize this is why we have to pass levies right?) I was researching the candidates on my ballot for the upcoming election. I didn't live in Kunze's district during a past election so I didn't know much about her. I asked a few friends and they said she is a nice lady and a moderate republican. Ok, sounds good... But I like to look up the voting records of any candidates who have held office in the past. Kunze is giving some pretty strong MAGA vibes in her votes the last couple years.
She voted for the hateful SB68 bill that targets LGBTQ kids in schools, sports, and their healthcare. I don't care what your thoughts are on what being transgender is or about gender in general -- this is not our business. It should be between the kid, the parents, and their pediatrician or family doctor. And how anyone could support a bill that targets a group of kids at a higher risk for suicide than any other group is beyond me.
Kunze voted for permitless carry. I am a gun owner and consider myself a responsible one. Permit-less carry is so dangerous and irresponsible. I support common sense gun safety regulations and believe safe storage is important (guns are the leading cause of death for kids because we don't ensure they are stored safely). The FOP and our local police departments are against those types of gun bills. There were a few other gun bills where she also voted in line with the NRA, not responsible gun owners or the FOP, so this doesn't seem like a one-off vote either.
Kunze was against last year's issue 1 amendment to protect reproductive choice and voted for the wasteful August special election, so she clearly is not supportive of women having control over their own bodies and keeping the government out of our reproductive and family planning decisions. Also seems inclined to ignore the will of the voters since the August 1 special was just a power grab meant to take rights away from voters (even the libertarians hated it).
But I think one of the most egregious things Kunze supported was the expansion of Ed Choice vouchers. I'm all for parents having options for their kids. I'm all for kids going to Catholic or Christian schools (I am a Christian myself) or whatever private school they want. But I draw the line at taxpayer dollars subsidizing the private education of kids -- most of whom were already attending private schools -- to the tune of $1 billion dollars so far this year alone and at the expense of the public schools that money was meant for. Republicans should HATE this! In Hilliard there is a levy on the ballot to make sure we don't lose needed improvements and services for our schools. But our community doesn't want to pay more property taxes and I've heard many from both parties say they won't vote for the levy despite how important it is for our kids and schools. They don't understand that we need the levy to fund the schools because the vouchers have siphoned away a huge amount of funding that should be going to our public schools. If you don't like levies or property tax increases, you should be against school vouchers. Strong public schools build strong communities and we all benefit -- we know this! Good schools attract young families and homebuyers, which increase our property values. But sending our tax dollars to private schools with no income cap, no limit on how much we drain away, and no oversight on how that money is spent is unconstitutional. And Kunze voted for and approved it. So disappointing. We the people don't want to spend more money on property taxes so people who choose to sent their child to private school don't have to pay for it.
My conclusion? Kunze is a MAGA R, not a moderate R. Anyone who would vote for Trump or Vance or Moreno in the year 2024 is not a moderate, but I know there are many of us republicans out here who still want fiscally conservative and responsible small government that minds their own business. MAGA is the opposite and I would rather vote for a reasonable Democrat than an extreme MAGA republican. You can say you are a moderate or centrist all you want, but legislative voting records tell the real story. And Kunze's record paints her as a Matt Huffman puppet. Hard no for this republican.
These are the proposed cuts that will have to be made if the levy fails. This includes the Arrow program for elementary aged gifted students. Transportation cuts are also planned. Please consider how this will adversely affect Hilliard students and vote yes on Issue 39.
I just noticed the spray truck drive down Alton Darby Creek, something I've never seen before. Are they addressing an abundance of mosquitos and taking action?
I haven't been able to be outside past 6:30 pretty much all summer, and some have speculated that the mild winter contributed to an increase in the population.
Just wonder if they are spraying more in more locations because of an anomaly.
I’ve seen some old posts taking about the racing that is clearly happening on the exits of 270. Sounds like between Sawmill to Cemetery, going south. Almost every night now, including weekdays. 11am-2 am. Super predictable, are Hilliard/ Dublin police still on this?

Looking for reputable eye doc who is accepting new patients in the Hilliard area. Thank you!
Maybe I'm looking back on my ancient 8th Grade experiences with some sort of cognitive dissonance, but what in the fresh hell is going on these days? 19 assignments?
Nine. Teen.
Most of these things are weighted/point-valued, too. We seriously just got caught up. But I'm concerned that if a kid can't legit be sick for 2 days without returning to nearly two dozen homework assignments, I'm starting to wonder what's actually being taught in school. Is more being taught than ever before? Did he simply miss the worst possible period of time to miss class? Is this part of the "We don't trust teachers to teach" curriculum that Hilliard purchased? Is this just the rambling of a 47-year-old father wondering where the fuck his weekend went? Probably the latter.
I'm in Hilliard but a little more rural. Just wondered what neighborhoods were consistent with handing out candy. I don't want to let my little guy down driving around all night. TIA!
