So a friend took this photo of me randomly one day and it looks so professionally done!! I don’t really have any “headshot” photos and thought this is a nice one to use for my LinkedIn, email, etc… But I’m worried the halter top and thigh may come off a bit too casual/flirty to be professional. I can always crop out my thigh at the bottom, but I don’t know photoshop well enough to give my dress sleeves lol.
Thoughts?
My question is basically the title. I have no interest in commercials and only want to act in films/TV so would getting all serious headshots be a bad thing if that’s the case?
Also, would not being open to commercials harm my chances of getting an agent in anyway? Apologies if it’s an obvious question.
I'm new to this area and unsure of how to price corporate headshots in Palm Beach County, FL.
Any pointers?
Thanks!
I'm curious, have any photographers taken the time to actually try these AI headshot generators?
I'm trying to keep an open mind here but I'm seeing these things more and more.
If you have tried them:
How do the results compare to your own work?
Do the AI tools do anything right that we can learn from?
Are you planning any changed to your business
Call me optimistic, but I'm hoping to hear some thoughtful perspectives here.
I've been using tools like ChatGPT more and more and I'd be lying if I said it doesn't make me think more about what AI photography could do to my side job.
I know this isn’t useable as a headshot, but I don’t know why. Can anyone explain what makes it unusable? (I know I’d have to edit it for blemishes, lighting inconsistencies, etc.) Thanks!
It's time for a new professional headshot, but I'm self-employed now and trying to cut costs as much as possible. I'd like to use one of the numerous AI headshot tools available, any my main concern is the bags under my eyes (I'm a fella in his early 50s). Are there apps/sites that would take care of this?
Hello fellow actors, please could you look at my headshot below and the choose from the below list of adjectives and Job roles? I am currently trying to figure out what my brand is and your input would be extremely appreciated! Thank you very much everyone
Hey everyone! Getting headshots done next week and could use some advice about hair. My natural hair is straight, which is how I wear it for self tapes (unless the role asks for otherwise), but I notice a lot of actors have styled hair in their shots.
I'm comfortable doing mermaid waves (they tend to look good on me) but I'm wondering if I should attempt classic curls instead, even though I'm less practiced with them. My main concern is having headshots that look too different from how I appear in self tapes.
Anyone have thoughts on this? Did you go styled or natural for your shots? If styled, what kind of curls did you choose? TIA 😊
I recently had acting headshots done. Are you supposed to tip the photographer? I did not, and now I feel like maybe I should have since it was a great session.
Edit: I’m in the US
Hi! I am a black/biracial actor and I am looking to get my headshots done but have no idea how to wear my hair.
Typically, I wear my hair in a slick back bun with two curly strands in front of my ears but I fear this won't be flattering for the photo. Currently, I have layered french curls. The body looks good but the roots are getting older.
I only sometimes get braids but the braids are much more flattering on my face and I would like to have this look for the headshot.
Should I book two separate headshots showing both hairstyles to show versitality or take out my braids and only do the bun headshots?
Hi everyone! I’m a photographer in NYC with a strong background in photography and editing, but I’m just getting started in headshot photography. My goal is to help actors, creatives, and professionals by offering high-quality headshots at reasonable prices.
To the experienced headshot photographers: • What do you wish you knew when you were starting out? • How do you build your portfolio and attract your first clients? • Any advice for working with actors or guiding them during a shoot?
To actors: • What do you look for in a headshot photographer? • What makes a headshot session memorable and comfortable for you? • Are there things photographers do (or don’t do) that you wish were different?
I’d also appreciate any tips on marketing, pricing, or standing out in a competitive market like NYC. Thanks in advance for your advice—I’m excited to grow in this field and make connections in the community!
