Hi, Looking for furnished accommodation in Hastings/Havelock area from late Dec through to end of Feb for my mature mum visiting from overseas. Needs quiet place to stay with room to work from home, kitchen facilities, and good wifi. Does anyone have any suggestions?
With the Manawatu Gorge closed, what's the best route from Wellington to Hawkes Bay? Driving during the day on a Friday and in an electric vehicle if it makes any difference.
Thanks!
Edit: Saddle Road it is! Thank you kind Redditors!
We are moving to Hawke’s Bay next year, my partner will be working at Hastings hospital. We have two children, one of my children will be starting school next year. I’m looking for recommendations for safe and nice areas to live with a good local primary school. We like to get out and about with the children and go for walks around our local area daily and go to playgrounds, cafes, attend playgroups etc.. We are wanting to be no more than a 20 minute drive from the hospital. Hit me up with your suggestions!
Has anyone been able to see this bloody once in 80 millennium year comet that's meant to be visible with the naked eye in the western horizon this week.
I have looked every bloody night and it's been cloudy, tonight is mostly clear and I still can't see the bastard.
Is it also hiding from you and getting very close to a stern talking too???
It better bloody well show itself or I'm going to write a complaint to the Federation.
i’m wanting to get a hippie kinda style tattoo and i’m trying to decide where to get it done. I’ve been to blue lagoon and liberty to have a look but i’m not sure, anyone have any independent artists or recommendations??
Any body know why?
We've had the November 2020 floods and then the cyclone last year so we know how vulnerable we are in Hawke's Bay. It's time to check your Go Bag and emergency supplies.

What y'all doing thats making the Po Po so busy? Not just a one off but every day!! I hear the cops chasing people, trying to surround places and more. I hear they caught a pedo recently!!
Maybe they're doing Uber eats deliveries extra fast for more cash in these hard times?
To the dude walking down havelock rd early afternoon with a mouth full of leaves: are you ok?
Hey HB, I hope it's ok to post this here.
I have a couple projects in mind and looking for musicians will similar ambitions and love for just playing music. Writing our own material, uninterested in current popular trends and just creating what we want to hear.
I could write a novel hear but any musicians interested just DM and we can see if we're in the same brain space. Im interested in four piece with vocals to instrumental to a larger project with vocals, guitar, rhythm section, brass, percussion, keys/piano etc
Anyone interested we can talk inspirations and ideas.
Hey all!

Hi,would like to ask if there are any shop you recommend to frame a wedding photos, anywhere in Hastings or Napier.
Thanks.
Are the people in high vis chalking customers wheels at countdown and paknsave real wardens or is this some scammy scammer?
Didn't get a ticket but seen them chalking wheels as customers leave there cars there.
Doesn't seem like a thing expected of a supermarket carpark.
40M here used to live in the bay, might visit again soon. Is there a page for people that are feeling low / lonely and in need of conversation or meeting people etc?
Almost half the state highway network across Hawke’s Bay has “major deficiencies”, says a report outlining why the region needs a $4.7 billion roading upgrade.
Kia ora folks, looking to head out to the Mangatutu hot springs. Online I've found that the river is sometimes high, anyone know what to expect this time of year? I've got a sedan so not really wanting to get stuck but pretty keen to get out there before the summer kicks in.
Hi! Grew up in the bay but left a couple of decades ago. Am moving back soon with my partner, newborn and dogs.
Still know people, have family there and all that but really want a fresher start, meet new people, make the most of the area, get outdoors with the pēpi & dogs. Eat and drink delicious things. I don't (just) want to sit in a mates cousins garage sinking piss, smoking weed and talking about the same shit everyone was talking about when I left - which has been my experience when I've come back for visits in the past.
What's good? Parents groups? Social life options? Events, meet ups, venues, accessible outdoor spaces? I've seen some game board groups in the subreddit which we'll check out further but we're more Ticket to Ride, taco cat goat cheese pizza or Mario Party gamers. Some gaming groups are a bit more intense.
I'm not sure where to start looking for resources and my family back home are either way too fit and outdoorsy to keep up with, or don't go out of their own routine much and have no advice.
Thanks!
Edit - thank you so much everyone! Will be checking everything out. Thankfully we already have a place to live, I didn't realize how tough the housing situation is.
What's the road like from Napier to Mahia? Any good since the cyclone?
Hey so im a M(24) and I'm trying to get past some of my social anxiety and boredom and I'm looking for groups and events and things to do in the bay and yo make some more friends. Anything like pub quizzes, gamed nights, book clubs, cooking classes or like walking clubs. Pretty open to anything honestly just finding my circle is pretty small and because of my hours at work I have from thursday afternoon to Monday afternoon so finding myself really bored and there's only so much reading and playing video games I can do🤣
Anywhere to do indoor climbing in the bay?
Are there any places in the bay that's showing the fight that has good vibes?
Going to Hawkes Bay for a short holiday soon and would love to know where does a good burger and which restaurants are good. I've heard there's not a lot of good Japanese and at a glance there are a lot of European restaurants, which are not typically my thing. Where do you like to go out to eat?
I (31M) have recently gotten back into Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game (MESBG) after a long time away from the hobbies. I don't know anyone else in HB who plays, so just wondering if there's anyone on here who plays or if anyone can point me in the right direction. I don't have Facebook so FB groups arent an option unfortunately.
Thanks in advance!
New to the bay. Looking for people to chill and chat with. Any age any gender.
Hello
I know this question gets asked a lot but am hoping for some help.
I'm trying to convince my boyfriend that we should move to NZ for a bit. We currently live in London - he's from here, but I'm from Wellington.
As he's a very details oriented person, I am creating a slideshow to give him information about NZ and where we could live.
I have chosen areas around the country and then listed some of their suburbs and links to current rental properties so he can see how much everything will cost.
Most suburb pages have a little blurb about the area, but I'm struggling a bit and have resorted to Wikipedia entries, which is turning out to be quite dry. I'm not sure he'll necessarily be sold on places based solely on their ethnicity breakdowns!
If there is anywhere in Hawkes Bay you particularly like, and want to write a sentence or two below about what makes it good, please do so.
Thank you so much in advance!
Any questions, please ask!
Hi all. I’m from Dunedin. Feeling a bit stuck and wanting to make a big move to somewhere completely different. Have a few places I’m considering and Hawkes Bay is one of them. Was hoping you’d be able to tell me your experience of living in Hawkes Bay? What’s the cost of living like? What fun things do you like to do there? Thanks in advance!
Anyone know a place in napier that sells ice cream cakes?
