The New Jersey native took her moniker from a New York L train subway stop and her adopted city plays a large role in both the sound and lyrics of her gritty, dark electro-pop.

Based on the strength of her first single, "Ghost," she signed a deal with Capitol-owned electronic/dance label Astralwerks in early 2014. Her debut EP, 'Room 93', arrived in October of the same year.

Her debut album 'Badlands' was released in August 2015.

TGI at #2, But We’re Always #1 in Support 🤍⭐️

Even though TGI hit #2, let’s take a moment to recognize how much we all put into this.

It was personal, deep, and authentic. We did everything we could to make it shine, and I hope Ashley, Anthony and all her team are proud of the work they put in to bring this wonderful project to life.

It’s incredible to see 93k sales even after her fith albums. Not everyone in the industry has this kind of staying power. We’re here, we’ve always been here, and we’ll keep showing up no matter what. Ash knows she’s got a fanbase that’s in it for the long haul, and that’s something special.

Right now, let’s just be proud of what we’ve done together. As fans, we showed up, and that matters. Let’s keep streaming, keep the momentum going, and get hyped for the tour next year! 🤍⭐️

Amazon Live - Dice App

Hi everyone,

I really enjoyed Halsey's performance last night and was wondering what your experiences was like getting tickets for the in-person event was?

I understand that it was through Dice. But also I have a couple of questions -

- Did you need a code for this event?

- Was there a queue when trying to get these tickets?

- How many could you purchase?

- How fast did it sell out for y'all?

Thank you so much in advance. I would really appreciate some clarity.

PITCHFORK PROTEST

Hi Halsey heads --

I, like many of you, am quite offended by P*tchfork's blatantly disrespectful "review" of TGI. I have defended them in the name of music journalism over the years but this is the last straw. I am of the belief that there should be a protest staged outside Pitchfork's offices. The only problem is I don't live in New York :/ Any East Coast fans wanna take this on? I'm thinking it could be patterned off the historic Celine Dion Rolling Stone protest.

Where would you guys put Is There Somewhere and Empty Gold on the BADLANDS track list?

Badlands is one of my favorite albums of all time but I've always thought adding the two studio songs from Room 93 that didn't get put on the album would make it even more flawless. They fit the vibe of the album so well. Sonically R93 and Badlands are def part of the same universe (Trouble doesn't fit at all, but those two definitely do)

I'm trying to burn a cd (I'll never give up the joy of doing this) with them incorporated into the track list and wanna see your ideas!!!!!

Thoughts on Halsey’s Evolving Sound? 🎶

Hey everyone! Just wanted to open up a general discussion on how Halsey’s music style has evolved over the years. From the raw energy in Badlands to the deeply personal vibe of If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, it’s clear she’s not afraid to experiment and explore new genres.

I’d love to hear your thoughts—do you have a favorite era or album? Do you enjoy the shifts in sound, or are there specific elements of her earlier music you miss? Let’s keep it respectful and share some insights on what makes her journey as an artist so unique!

Looking forward to hearing from other fans! 💙

In light of recent criticism:

I feel like a lot of people are unable to differentiate an opinion and valid and constructive criticism. You are free to like or dislike something if it's not your thing. To be able to critique something you have to have at least basic level understanding of the process of creating music/art and be able to point out both good and bad things about it. Your opinion and taste shouldn't be a part of the critique, because that's how art is - it can be viewed differently by every person. You have to keep that in mind in order to tell people whether a peice or art or media is made in their taste or not. Simply saying something is bad or good won't tell people why it's that way.

I'm an artist who lurks around in art spaces online a lot. People have forgotten to give constructive criticism and always default to "it's great" or "it sucks and I hate it". As an artist that gives me nothing to work with. Of course I'm not gonna hush people for saying what they think, but I've noticed people have become very aggressive about sharing their negativity.

Let's get back to Halsey. TGI is their best album in terms of lyrics, storytelling and emotion (at least according to me ofc). Even if you didn't see any of the promotion about the album, if you pay attention to the songs you will notice the reoccurring theme of battling with illness, having toxic people around you who refuse to help and having frequent thoughts about not being alive to be able to raise your child. This is such an emotional topic to write about and I've rarely seen people sing about it, let alone dedicate an entire album about it. Halsey's lyrics are raw and they hit you like a truck. Any person who has struggled with chronic illnesses will relate to this album dearly. It's important to point out the themes of the album respectfully, so the right audience can find it through your review. I've seen people on tiktok reply with the argument "well just because the lyrics are deep, it doesn't mean the album is good". That's not the point. To be able to review an album fully you have to separate sound production and lyrics imo. You can absolutely hate the style of the music, but still respect the lyrics and the message it brings across, even if it's only meant for a specific demographic of people. When you attack Halsey for her lyrics, you are also attacking everyone who has experienced the same as her. It makes no sense to alianate people like that. You are free to dislike her writing style, but don't go out of your way to call it "main character syndrome" or "victim mentality". Music is the safest way for people to process their emotions and experiences. It is important to review art with that in mind, because art in it's core is supposed to affect people emotionally. If you jump into criticising art only rationally, you may lose a lot of the nuance it has. It's very immature to expect an artist to take the worst and undeserved criticism ever - yes when you put something out into the world you have to know that people will have opinions. These opinions shouldn't destroy the artist - it should encourage them to grow and become better.

TLDR: people lack nuance when it comes to criticism, which is why they default to their personal opinion of the art and the artist. To be able to review something you have to take every aspect of the art into consideration: production, lyrics, etc. You also have to realise you may not be the target demographic, so you have to be unbiased. That way the target demographic can find the music and respect it, otherwise they will just think the art isn't worth their time. Art is personal and everyone views it differently, which is why good criticism is hard to do.

I wanna know what crazy thing she was referring to middle of the show that she said she’d save for the end😭

Maybe she decided against whatever it was 🥲 or did she do something that I overlooked or just happened to miss?? Maybe it was the going into the crowd/on barricade at the end?
