ive been to great yarmouth a couple of times but not for over a decade and enjoyed it there the ties i visited. im considering moving to great yarmouth for a few reasons but something which is putting me off is the fact it has a reform uk mp and the council have put some measures in place to prevent refugees and asylum seekers from living there.
im going to come visit a few times to get a feel for the place myself but figured i would ask here as well. is xenophobia, racism, homophobia etc. common?
is it common to see foreigners being verbally abused or discriminated against?
partly the reason i am asking is my ethnicity is not 100% british.
It was a pretty awful place but it served a purpose and served it well. Good times were had here
I've never lived so close to the sea and it might be a silly thing for the locals but I often see (on TV) these kind of places flooded when it rains in UK... I want to move here but I don't know if there are/where there are 'danger zones'...so I avoid when I pick a place. You can't really trust the agency to be honest so figured locals would be more helpful. Also, every town has its areas to avoid in terms of anti ASB crimes.... can you let me know which are the bad spots so I can avoid these too? I suppose if the price is really cheap that would be a signal but I'd appreciate a heads up!
Thanks in advance!
On Monday afternoon my boyfriend collapsed somewhere near the trim trail in Gorleston and a kind stranger performed CPR until an ambulance arrived. We didn’t get any info on this person but would love any leads to track them down and thank them
I work with Norfolk and Suffolk Animal Trust and we’re holding a Christmas charity event at the Minster :) Bring your dogs, to take some photos, have pup cup and grab a gift to take! We’ve got merch and commissions available to buy, and the tea room is right next to us if you want to grab a coffee and hang out with some dogs! All the proceeds go to the charity, it’s not a huge event but a huge amount of effort has gone into it by all our lovely volunteers :)
Please check this out and share it with your young men. Love you GY!
I would post this on the Gorleston subreddit but there isn’t one.
So, we’re looking for pubs and tea rooms to try while we’re on holiday, and this popped up in our search. Is it any good? I feel I have to check it out just for the name. The photos look good, and it’s 4.5 stars.
Are there any good local used bookstores in Yarmouth? Do any carry used movies or cds? Thanks!
any recommendations used to go to Marina/Phoenix but they're a bit shit. too expensive not good for facilities are not open when I feel like I want to go. Not too far away because I'm going to go there on my bike or possibly by bus. hopefully somebody can help :)
26 m will give be right now
So I've landed myself a job, starting at the end of the month. It's in London though, and I need to work out how to get to Norwich for around 5:30am.
I do have some access to a car, but would rather not rely on it. Any ideas for early commuting options?
What has happened to these two streets? They used to be a nice walk to the sea front but now are dirty, run down and just dreary! What’s gone wrong?
Ar ye orrite?
Just wondering if anyone here has ever done or does Parkrun in GY or Gorleston? And if so what are your experiences? I’m a bit of a fat lass. Never run or exercised and I’m not young either! But thinking of trying to get a bit fitter and all that. Just wondered if anyone has any local experiences?
I’m visiting Great Yarmouth in three weeks, and I’d like to visit some game stores in the area and see if there’s cool stuff I can’t find at home. Any recommendations?
In the late 70's my wife (for clarity, she wasnt my wife then) went to the wild Duck holiday park and got a T-shirt with their logo, which then got damaged. I thought it might be nice to recreate it as a surprise. Does anyone have a photo of what the Tshirt would have looked like?
Hello We are spending Christmas in Great Yarmouth and was wondering if anyone knew the best place to book for Christmas dinner? Thankyou
Myself and my partner are staying in Yarmouth for a week in November, we’ve visited before but never later than October so my question is what kind of/how many attractions and tourist shops can we expect to still be open?
Is it just me or is there Gang Bullying down Newtown against vulnerable tenants? Seem like 3 families on the estate. Any views??
Power of social Media hopefully I’ll be a happy Bunny very shortly
My girlfriend has recently moved to Gorleston-on-sea and is looking to meet new people. She enjoys swimming in the sea and was wondering if there are any other women that do so?
She is also interested in other activities involving the beach/sea or yoga/fitness.
Any help would be massively appreciated!
