This post isn't mine it's for my Best friend whose dealing with a crisis, her new red rump pair (Donald and Daisy) have began aggressive with eachother. They are pulling eachothers feathers out. She has separated them but they get distressed when their apart. What do we do ???
I am really interested in getting a grasskeet because of their quiet but beautiful singing along with their mellower personalities when compared to most pet birds. I started off looking into Bourkes, but I also became interested in Red Rumps Parrots. I was hoping to get two birds to make sure they have company when I am away, so the "territorial" description of Red Rumps has me a little concerned. I do not want to breed birds, so having a male and a female makes me a little uncomfortable. However, most websites don't really talk about the personality of the females of this species.
Would two female Red Rumps together be ok? Would a female Red Rumps kept with a female Bourke be ok?
So my fiancé and I are about to adopt a 1.5 year old Mulga, which I’m fairly certain qualifies as a grass parrot.
We’re just looking for good resources for our new bird about diet, care, etc, especially where these differ from regular parrots/parakeets etc.
Anything is helpful. We’re completely new to owning birds and want to give this little guy the best life we can. Any and all tips are appreciated.
Hi, I recently bought a Red Rump Parrot but am not sure if the care for it is. He is hand tamed and the pet store owner let me know their diet is similar to cockatiels. While searching for information online I read an article that said they are prone to getting roundworm and that I will need to see an avian vet every few months to get it treated. Does anyone know if this is true? Any advice is appreciated!
