Hi, I'm probably going to get glasses soon due to an eyesight blur kind of far away. What could I expect from getting glasses? are there and things I should know? Any problems with them? Should I get contacts instead? Thank you very much.
Not entirely sure if I am correct but I think from my prescription I need a slight correction for close up vision and have an astigmatism that affects my distance vision. Is this right? If so, do I need reading or distance glasses? I am wanting to buy prescription glasses online as they are much more cost-effective and not sure whether I get reading or distance ones. Also, I have read that it is not recommended to buy glasses online if you have an astigmatism.
my face in general gets really oily, no clue why, genes i guess. anyway, i should wear glasses but last time i did, i was too annoyed by when my nose gets greasy, theyd slide on my nose. it was disgusting and annoying, wiping my nose only made it greasier faster. and the little rubber nose feet things of the glasses turned yellow after a few months.
is there any remedy for this o
I bought 3 pairs of glasses about a month ago. I received them in a reasonable amount of time and they looked fine. They included a case and a cleaning cloth.
The problem is that after wearing one pair (model TR206) for only 5 or 6 days, it broke when I tried to clean it. I treat my glasses carefully and don't apply excessive pressure. In fact, I have a previous pair of glasses that I bought in a local store about 8 years ago and they're still in good condition, except for some minor scratches. I couldn't believe the new ones broke so easily, especially since I hadn't even cleaned them properly yet!
I contacted customer service and they were kind enough to remake the glasses at no extra charge. I haven't received the replacement pair yet, but I have the tracking number.
This morning, I tried to clean another pair of glasses (model TR211) for the first time, and they also broke in two places. I'm using isopropyl alcohol, which we use to clean all our glasses, including computer components and electronics, without any issues. I wonder if the problem might be with the plastic material of the frames, although we have other plastic-framed glasses that are holding up fine.
I know I should contact Tendaglasses again but I don't want to receive another cheap quality glasses. I'd rather accept it was a waste of money, move on and never buy them anything. I'm not an expert on glasses, but I assume that most models and lens shapes are fairly standard. As the lenses are okay, do you think I could buy new, high-quality frames at a regular glasses store?
Thanks for your help!

I'm picky about my frames because of my high prescription (-10.50) and I also have large eyes. I don't like smaller frames as they never seem to cover my eyes completely and I see over the top frame, so I usually go with the very large frames. I am not a fan of most Americas best frames, and I have tried eyebuydirect but the frames fell apart constantly. I also have an astigmatism in both eyes and need antiglare lenses for night driving.
So any reliable website that offers very slim lenses will be best. Thank you!
They didn’t try to upsell me the top tier “Ultra” progressives so without much thought I chose the next step down “Elite” lenses. I can’t find anything online about the price or blur-area differences between the two, and wonder if the upgrade would have been worth it. I just bought them yesterday so I assume the order can be changed (?) it’s not like they’re at the lab yet. Does anyone have opinions on one lens vs the other? (Opinions other than don’t buy any lenses there haha, IKIK)
How thick will my lenses be at sph -5.75 cyl -0.50 I wanted metal frames but depending on the thickness I don't know if they are a good option. The frames are also small and circular.
I’m trying to get some glasses on sale for Black Friday/Cyber Monday (I know it’s a bit late 😵💫) but I’m having the hardest time reading my prescription, especially the OS axis? I thought it was x95, my husband swears it says x015, and before I order, I was wondering if anyone knew. If not I will be calling tomorrow to double check, but was hoping to make the order sometime later today. With things I saw online, it looked like it’s a 3 digit number (ex. 012, 102) which would be it HAS to be 015… right? Or is it a wonky 025? 😂 am I overthinking this??
Basically the title - I don’t mind the weight and don’t need safety as these will only be used at home and when I’m working.
My favorite glasses have glass lenses - they were manufactured in china by a local lab around a decade back.
Out of all the pairs I own (including my other two main pairs that have excellent AR coatings and fairly high end lenses, one oakley frame with essilor lenses and a crizol coating, the other pair has zeiss clearview I believe?), these are still my favorite.
The plastic lenses are noticibly lighter and have significant impact resistance, but these have (IMO) the best clarity and color out of the lot, and I don’t have to worry about scratching any coating.
Is there anyone that can still do glass? Located in NYC, talked to two independent opticians and the place that did my zeiss lenses, and all of them say they only do plastic for safety.
I don’t mind spending a good bit, and I wouldn’t mind overseas recommendations as well.
Hi, I am seeking for advice on whether I should remake the glasses. My pupillary distance is 32.5mm on my left eyes but my glasses are made for 31.5mm for that eye. Do you think I should request them to remake the glass? I heard wrong pupillary distance will increase eye strain and make eyesight worse so just wondering if anyone knows about this by any chance. It is a lot of work for me to request them to redo it. Thanks!
Hi, I wanted to seek some opinions on whether I should remake my glasses. My pupillary distance is 32.5mm on my left eye but my glass was made for 31.5mm for the glass so my question is if I should request them to remake the glasses? I have high prescriptions so I am afraid this will cause more eye strain and make my eyesight worse. Thank you!
I recently saw optometrist due to my double vision which is caused by medical condition but i needed some relief as i get double vision randomly during the day. it makes it hard to do things like driving and play volleyball. does anyone have experience in playing sport with prism glasses? What are some good recommendations for glasses as well that aren’t just goggles.
I lost my prescription glasses this weekend that i JUST got. Insurance doesn’t cover a new one until next year. Out of pocket cost would be quite a lot at an optician.
Can i order glasses online for cheaper? If so, where?
I wanted my first time wearing my prescription lenses to be like those cute babies in the viral videos who suddenly get the joy of sight. But instead I guess I gotta wait a week or so for my eyes to adjust. 😮💨
Honestly, I've just been denying anything is wrong with my vision for like a year so I'll probably deny that these glasses help me at all once the corrective magic kicks in. Stubornness just comes naturally.
But at least they're kinda cute!
I just got my first set of glasses and I'm getting frustrated that I can't lay on my side to watch TV anymore.
Any tips or tricks? Or am I just going to have to sit up forever?
(24F; astigmatism) I've been to the doctor 4 times already and they can't get my prescription right, having already changed more than 7 pairs of glasses I feel like giving up... I can't read like I used to, because when foccused in reading one eye gets blurry and fogs out my entire vision.
The funny thing is, it's not just one specific eye. When the doctor increases the lens power for the blurry eye, the other eye—which was perfectly fine before—becomes blurry. I've been told by every doctor that my eyes are healthy and everything is okay, yet I still have this problem. Has this happened to anyone of you guys ?
For context my initial appointment was on 10/10. I ordered my glasses & they arrived 2 weeks later, on 10/24. As soon as I got home I noticed damage to the frame (they are clear plastic and on one side above the lenses there is a huge matte area like someone either buffed the plastic or wiped them down with an abrasive cleaner) as long as issues with my lenses - they made me wait 2 weeks to make sure the prescription was correct before re-ordering. So I went back in on 11/11 and everything was re-ordered & they tried to keep my pair of damaged glasses (thank god they gave them to me at this point). About an hour later the office called to tell me the frames were on back order so it might take an extra week. Today I get a call that they are "out of stock" but should be getting more frames in within a week or two. Is it just me or is this kind of crazy? I kind of feel like they should be finding me another frame that they carry, that is similar, and eating the cost (if any). Almost 2 months after my initial appointment & still without a pair of glasses that work for me.
Little brother broke these. Wondering if they can be fixed at home/ DIY. Upper left frame is bent weirdly l
Hi everyone,
TLDR: Those who have had Prism lenses and Neurolenses, which do you prefer?
About 6 months ago I got diagnosed with Exophoria. I was prescribed prism lenses with 2BI in each lens. I started wearing them and they were a bit hard to get used to but eventually I did. They didn’t help all my symptoms right away, but it seemed to be getting better, and out of nowhere things got worse.
Then I found out about Neurolenses, I decided to give them a go. At the start they were weird, but then I got used to them. Then they were actually really good and i was able to drive long distances and be inside grocery stores without panic attacks 24/7. Now they’ve also seemed to lose their touch.
I’ve gotten in contact with a Neurovisual eye doctor in Florida and they said that they actually prefer to treat with prism lenses and adjust the prescription as time goes on, I’ve made an appointment and hopefully can come to an end with trying to find the right glasses.
Anyone have experience with using prism lenses vs neurolenses? Was my initial prism prescription supposed to be updated eventually? Was the same supposed to be done with my Neurolenses? Looking for all experiences :)
Hello there,
I need help checking what the best progressive lenses that I can choose and if you have any suggestions for me. My prescription is:
OD SPH -1.75 CYL -2.25 Axis 179 ADD 1.50 PD 30.5
OS SPH -2.25 CYL -2.75 Axis 177 ADD 1.50 PD 31.0
I am in Canada and using eyebuydirect.ca, which is working great for my regular eyeglasses. However, now I need to check my lens options first.
Thank you for any help.
I recently broke my glasses so i went to a new optometrist and bought glasses with my old prescription, now these new glasses are giving me a light headache is it normal?
Man i miss living without glasses, feeling actual air on ur eyes, seeing with ur eyes, people who wore glasses for long time will relate.
I am 35 and it’s my first time getting my vision checked as an adult. I went to get checked because I started noticing blurriness during nighttime driving, but I haven’t noticed a problem otherwise. I figured they might be nice for going to live sporting events or the movies. If I need them all the time I may invest in contacts also. For now I have just ordered glasses.
