Gin - "The Other White Liquor"

I found this one today , I bought it for the pretty ceramic bottle . I think it’s the same as the one in the orange bottle. I tasted a little , it was kind of sweet to me and I could taste the citrus . I’m going to try it later in a G&T . It’s 10 am here and a bit too early for me to start having cocktails.
Visiting friends in Vermont, and we’re planning on hitting Bar Hill distillery today for what’s become something of a tradition. My local friend was there a while back and nabbed a bottle of this limited edition gin.
I tasted some last night neat: 95 proof finished in stout casks, which imparts a nose and notes of malty stout, along with “dark chocolate, toasted pastry, and rich mocha. The palate is silky with notes of malted milk balls and warm baking spice. The finish is smooth with a long, lingering raw cacao flavor.” I really enjoyed it.
I live this sub-reddit and learning more about gins
My friends and I had our second tomato martini night (using up some of an open bottle of tomato vermouth from when we did this a few months ago). We like making a 2 serving martini and splitting it 4 ways so we can see how the taste of the gin pairs with the tomato vermouth, that way we can taste a bunch without getting wasted. We go through the lineup one time without any extra additives and the second time we start having some fun by adding olive oil, black pepper, tomato jam, and/or white vinegar. We’ve really been enjoying this savory take on a martini.
I think the favorite this evening was the Sông Cái for its peppery notes followed by the Four Pillars Olive Leaf when we added fresh ground black pepper and a couple drops of olive oil. Gin Mare is always one of our favorites and Gin Mare Capri didn’t disappoint, it’s basically a perfect martini gin. Tomato jam was also a huge hit when added to any of these gins and the tomato vermouth.
I would love to know if anyone has other interesting vermouth recommendations. I have a tomato and an olive vermouth from the same company, but would love to find other atypical flavors!
Anyone have any good cocktail inspiration for this? I bought my first bottle today and am loving how smooth it is, especially how sweet and floral. I usually prefer something more licorice forward but this is a hot contender for my top gin.
My step father likes gin so I would like to try make him some for Christmas. Does anyone have any good recipes to share or helpful tips? Appreciated
Just found a new spot. Had some stuff I haven’t seen before.
If you had to walk out with 5 which ones?
Cheers.
Basically what the title says: I have a trainee and he loves Gin as his beverage of choice. I would love to gift him a really great Gin, one he might not be able to afford on his trainee salary, since he's been so exemplary. Problem is: I don't know the first thing about Gin, since I'm more of a Scotch guy.
Therefore I ask the wisdom of this sub to provide me with some good options, I can procure (relatively easily) in Europe! My price limit would be around 80 € / 90 USD / 77 GBP.
Thank you all so much for your support!
Does anyone know if I can get this in the GTA?
I like the flavor just needs more kick to it.
So much complexity yet it makes so much sense. Best Bees Knees ive ever had bar none. Homemade honey syrup out of honey from my very own ranch. Doesn’t get better!
The first gin I ever tried years ago was in this tall rectangular bottle that was like wide but thin. It had some pine trees wrapped around it in a black decal and a cork top. I loved this stuff so much but can’t figure out what it was 😭 heeeellp
Had some serious fomo and was super excited to hear they brought it back. It’s now one of my favorite gins.
Anyone know of any gins similar to the Orkney gin company's Rhubarb old tom?
From Spain. Very heavy strawberry flavor, not noticeably sweet however. Any suggestions on the best way to drink it?
Hello I have a weird question.
So I tried scotch and bourbon and I tried a classic Gin Martini, Vodka Martini and just now had a Gin Tonic. All in all I'm not gonna lie the scotch/bourbon tasted the best of those but I do appreciate drinking out of that classy James Bond Martini Glass that I have bought.
But I still feel like Bourbon tastes better than Martini and Gin Tonic. If I'm really honest I even like the Gin Tonic more than the classic Gin Martini. But Bourbon definitely more enjoyable to be honest. Do you guys just prefer Gin and Martinis because it looks cool in that glass and you feel like a king or James Bond when drinking it?
I must admit only drinking bourbon/scotch would be boring but it tastes better for sure! imo at least. I also drank Gin pure or on the rocks as you say, and it's alright but Bourbon just tastes better.
If anyone ask, I used Dolin Dry Vermouth and Monkey 47 Dry Gin Schwarzwald 1:2 (30 ml / 60 ml). But I do prefer a simple Gin Tonic it tastes better than a classic Gin Martini with olives. Idk that's just my thoughts on it. I feel like the taste is just better for whisky, isn't it? What is your take on this? The Gin Tonic is kinda nice though I just drank my 1st ever Gin Tonic, looks just as good as the Martini in that glass.
I wanted to add this to my federation wine collection. It definitely has clear earl grey flavor. A bit strong for me to drink straight but I'm betting it's delicious in a G&T!
I wanted to share this with you. I enjoyed this gin a couple of years ago at Biltmore. I love Chemist gins, and this did not disappoint. It's floral but not too floral. (It's not Flora Adora.) It was unavailable for the longest time. It's finally available again, though! I would encourage you to try Chemist gins now, because they were hit hard in Asheville, NC by Hurricane Helene, and they need your support. They're doing a lot to help the community there. You can support them by buying their products online at chemistspirits.com. Their American Gin is my go-to gin. Cheers!
Looked interesting. It turns black/purple when poured into a highball glass. But the taste was not I wanted in a Gin. I like em dry and more Juniper taste.
Love the Barr hill. Kicked this bottle. Going to tap a different bottle later this week.
