Gin - "The Other White Liquor"
/r/Gin
An absolutely fantastic cocktail with Bombay Sapphire gin, Italicus liqueur, lemon juice, hibiscus infused simple and cardamom bitters. A signature cocktail at Kook Dog Cafe in Reston, VA.
The wife has an excellent palate and an extensive knowledge of what I've had and what I like. As such, the Gunpowder, Herbal, and Fever Tree products were the from her. My oldest son, however, has a different approach. "Middle shelf, easy on the wallet." That led him to the Roku. It's going to take some time to drink this all and I'm going to enjoy it all.
I know the popular option is gin and tonic but I don’t find tonic to be appealing so what other good options are there that aren’t a sugar filled fruity drink? I was thinking Collin’s mix with some lemon or something, what are yalls thoughts?
Recently I got the opportunity to try a Negroni (my favourite cocktail) with Star of Bombay.
It blew my mind! I've tried many variations but this one stands out. The gin has stronger citrusy aroma and the higher ABV doesn't let the Campari to overflow the gin.
What are your thoughts of good, non-standard gins for a good negroni?
My
I felt like trying something little different tonight and picked up some elderflower tonic water. It's super delicious with the gray whale.
Hiya all, happy new year!
Tonight when I was drinking my gin (regular gin drinker including Gordon’s) I seemed to keep developing a blotchy red rash over my face whenever I have Gordon’s white peach gin. Mixer and food was all things I had had before so ruled them out quite quickly
Is there anything unique to Gordon’s white peach compared to other ones (including other Gordon’s flavoured gins)
Thanks in advance :)
My daughter and her friend drank our friend’s bottle of gin at their NYE party. I am trying to locate where I could purchase the bottle so I may replace it. Can anyone help? 🙏
Smashed a test tube of juniper berries and macerating them for 24 hours in Grey Goose vodka.
After filtering the juniper I will add my secret recipe of other botanicals.
I expect a bumbling chaos of flavors.
Picked up the Brokers today on recommendation from the hive mind. Oddly they were out of 750ml size so the handle made its way into my cart. Had some Tenjaku while out to dinner a few weeks ago and enjoyed it so grabbed a fifth of that. And the Tanqueray handle was needed. Was gonna get another Tanqueray 10 but I thought I'd wait awhile. Also have on hand: Boodles, Leatherbee, a St George trio and Citidele I think for choices next wwwk. Binny's is definitely my goto store.
I found this bottle in the basement of my grandfather’s house who used to be a pilot and brought it back to Europe in the 70’.
Hello Ginlovers! We are in Berlin on vacation and looking for a shop with a good gin selection for some rare finds. Would appreciate some good suggestions and great gin tips to try out. We are just some G&T people nothing special. Thank you!
My husband and I were excited to break into some of the new gins we brought back from Chicago, so decided to do some G&T’s tonight. We first did the Drumshanbo Pineapple with Fever Tree tonic and we were SO pleased. I was curious to see how it compared to Hendricks Amazonia since that has a strong pineapple flavor as well and I’ll say I definitely prefer Drumshanbo’s to Hendricks. Hendricks Amazonia is more pineappley and herbaceous and has a kind of banana leaf note to it whereas Drumshanbo is lighter and more pleasant, it was super refreshing and easy to drink!
Our second G&T tonight is Florence Field Gin from Wolf Point Distilling out of Chicago and holy cow, we are blown away by this gin. On the nose it’s just clean and on the palette it has a bolder mouthfeel than most gins. I honestly can’t really describe even what I’m tasting but oh boy, it is fantastic!
So far we’re 3/3 for the gins I brought back (we did Tenjaku as G&T’s with family and it was a hit all around, we almost finished the bottle between 5 of us! I actually had to go back to Binny’s and grab another to bring home before my flight).
I'm sketching out a Navy-strength compound gin – any advice re: adjusting weights for the first batch (750ml)?
As the title suggests, is it safe and enjoyable if you mix both together, and in what proportions?
Hello fellow gin lovers, Does anybody know what happened to Jensen's bermondsey distillery, in London? I've seen often their gins beign praised but today i was looking for informations about them and Google says that the distillery is permanently closed, and also a review posted on july on Tripadvisor says that it did close without giving any notice. Other than this i did not see any article talking about this, and i thought it was strange because i believe it is a pretty well known brand, at least in London.
Hello, I ordered Gin and Tonic a while ago and I really liked it. So now I want to make some for my friends for an event, but I don't know which Gin to take. I would rather prefer something not too heavy. I watched some videos and I'm hesitating between:
What do you think would be the best ? And also if you have other reccomendations feel free to write it. Thank you very much in advance !
Just got this Reposado Gin from St George - it’s a really interesting gin! I tried it in a G&T and it didn’t quite work due to the smoky bourbon essence … any cocktail ideas for this gin?
Hi everyone. I’m looking to make a cocktail I got a hotel bar myself. I’d just be grateful for some tips anyone might have about the infusion
I’m going to have Bombay Sapphire London Dry as my base and looking to infuse it with ginger and lime
I have no clue about gin so I’m otherwise relying on YT videos and ChatGPT here😂
My brother and sister in law got married 2 weeks ago and got a beautiful bottle of spiced gin. They are not big gin lovers but we passed it around on the night of and man was it tasty with so many aromas (I am a 28F gin fan which always seems to surprise people). They want to bring the bottle of spiced gin over on new years to drink with a small group of us (8-9 people, 1 doesnt drink, a couple of mild drinkers). I am wondering if anyone can recommend some cocktails that we can have prepped? Bonus points if it is something that I can put in a pitcher with the gin bottle next to so everyone can add the amount gin they want to for themselves. My only thoughts so far is a pitcher of cucumber water with maybe some cranberries and slices of cucumber and lemons. Thanks on advance!
