Looking to pick a Gibson LP. I had an Epiphone that I sold, and I have a Gibson acoustic (as well as an Epi SG and a Dobro, plus several other non-Gibson family), but this will be my first Gibson LP.
I know I want a gold top, but not sure which one. Spending under $3000, so I’ve narrowed my choices to the Standard 50’s, 50’s w/ P-90’s, or the Deluxe 70’s
I’ve never owned a P-90 or a mini-humbucker guitar. Any advice?
I mostly play rock and blues, bluegrass, indie rock, hardcore, post-hardcore, old school punk, and classic rock. Mostly looking for unique tones that my other guitars don’t give me.
Hey everyone - thinking of buying the Gibson SG Dark Walnut exclusive. This would be my first big guitar purchase at around $2K after taxes and I'm curious what the resale on something like this would be if for some reason a year from now I wanted to sell it. Or, how is Gibson generally with returning? I saw they have free returns for 30 days but am not sure how easy their return process is. Any input would be appreciated!
Also, has anyone bought one and have thoughts on how it looks in person?
I have a 2018 Les Paul standard. Trying to figure out how it corresponds to the current lineup as the lineup has changed over the years with different names coming and going (50s standard, 60s standard, standard, classic, traditional, HP, modern, etc). and I don't know all the differences.
Seems to be more similar to the current modern as it has burstbucker pro w/ coil split, etc., weight relief, etc. I'm unsure on the neck profile though. its listed as asymmetrical slim taper. I don't see anything with an asymmetrical slim taper now. Is that a discontinued thing?
Link if its helpful.

Usually, most dealers give 15-20% discount if you don’t use the 0% financing and buy from them directly. Has anyone gotten a discount from Gibson Garage Nashville?
Hi all, got a weird one. I have a 2017 SG Standard and I’m having a hard time finding a set of pickups for it. The 57 classics it came with I found dull, I tried a set of Seth Lovers that sounded open and airy in my 335 but in the SG were thin and lifeless. I currently have a set of SD High Voltage and the bridge pickup esp is thin and harsh. The neck is okay.
To make it weirder I impulse bought a 22 Epi LP Standard 60s, which has the new pro buckers, which from what I’ve read are an import version of Burstbuckers. I don’t care what they are because they sound literally perfect. Treble position is bright without being brittle and harsh, neck is bright with just a bit more bass, and together they have a nice fluid quack. Perfect for my clean -> edge of breakup style.
How do I get that in the SG? Preferrably with a Duncan pickup since I have a credit with them atm
Is it common for you guys to switch out the stock nut on your guitars or am I just unlucky?
This year I took my 50s Standard to a luthier due to issues with the high E string being muffled and sounding dead. It turned out it needed a new nut which was replaced and now sounds great. Well now I've noticed that a few of my guitars have the same problem which include an Epiphone Jerry Cantrell LP (low E), 50s LP Standard (G string), SG Standard (high E) and a 61 SG (high E). For reference these guitars range from 2019-2023 in age group, I don’t gig them and are kept indoors with proper cleaning and maintenance. I have checked to make sure the necks are good, height adjustment is good as well as pickup height according to what Gibson recommends they be set at. I have done the paper test, where you fold a small piece of paper on in the nut of the string, and it did fix the problem as the strings no longer sound dead. At this point I'm tempted to just work on them myself with the super glue and baking soda method. I'll take any advice you guys give me.
I knew about Greeny of course, and that he owns a bunch of Vs and other cool guitars. But damn, my jaw is on the floor after watching this one. I have a list a highlights but it feels like adding it here would be like spoiling it for others. What a treat of an episode.
I've got a '24 LP Studio in the mail and while I'm unbiased towards the 490/498 combo it comes with, I'm itching to drop some other pickups in there to see what they can do in that kick-ass guitar.
I know the model comes with the PCB board in the cavity, which is great news 'cause it promises a swift pickup swap without having to heat up the soldering iron.
But will the 4-pin-connectors actually fit through the hole between pickup and control cavity or are they added after the fact?
