i loved gyfcat because i could take a recording at 1440p and upload it at 1440p for free in a couple of minutes without it being cut at 30-60 seconds and downgraded to 720p or lower
Is there any large archives of gfycat entries/uploads? Preferably with their original URLs backed up?
I think it would be great to put up a revival website (fully functioning for new uploads, but with most of the old ones also available), and I'm capable of taking on this project (experience full stack web developer), but I wasn't able to find any resources for archives besides for `archive.org` and going that route will be painstakingly complicated.
If anyone has any resources available, let me know!
So i was a gfycat fan and gfycat shutdown. Any ideas for archive? (If incorrect comment can be deleted)
Other than the way back machine was any other archive created of the website. As there are some old links im trying to get but the way back machine doesn't seem to have captured it. I know when reddit changed its api stuff there were a number of torrents of scraped data, is there anything like that for this
For people who have Redirector. Use revive-gfycat.py
And follow the script to revive.

Where i can post new clips for free now?

how else can I post clips to reddit without feeling guilty?
Since Gfycat has been backed up in the Internet Archive, you can replace some characters like this to resurrect almost any clip:
BEFORE:
https://gfycat.com/giganticcarefulgaur.gif
AFTER:
https://web.archive.org/web/0if_/https://thumbs.gfycat.com/giganticcarefulgaur-mobile.mp4

For the people who use the browser extension Redirector, here's a rule to automatically do that for every dead gfycat link you click on (save this as anything.json
and click on Import
):

Imgur sucks ass and redgifs is ass what’s everyone using now to post stuff
I tried to put a GIF I didn't retrieve in the Wayback Machine and it links there, but it isn't actually playing or letting me download. Is it just slow or will the WBM not work for this?
A few minutes ago, gfycat shut down forever. Thanks /u/Mandinga33 for the help throughout the years. Too bad it ended like this. Hopefully someone will make a worthy replacement.
It's 8pm in my timezone. Site is being deleted in 4 hours. Am I totally screwed or is there any chance to bulk download my videos from https://gfycat.com/@solateor
Welp, on September 1st everything goes. Feel free to complain about snapchat or talk about any projects you are trying to archive here.
Im soo sad
I would like to know if Gifbrewery is discontinued because I can't find it in the U.S. Mac app store anymore. Is it still available in other countries?
Is there a good alternative?
Thanks in advance
I’ve tried most of the main downloading options people have shared here but I’ve been unable to scrub everything from my profile so far. I know all of these programs likely have simple instructions but I’m not super tech savvy and dyslexic so it’s hard for me to really grasp these sorts of things.
If anyone’s done a video tutorial or has a “Downloading Gfycat Profiles for Dummies” instruction list I’d be really grateful.
Is there a way I can move my entire gyfcat account over to imgur without manually downloading each video?
A site that doesnt randomly delete your files like ImgurA site that offers Catalogues/Custom Categories or Folders like Gfycat does so you can sort your uploads.A site that doesnt butcher the quality like Imgur does. Gfycat offered 4K 60 whereas Imgur seems limited to 1080p 30 or atleast it looks like it.
Edit: Just to test something outI uploaded a 1920x1080 60 fps with a bitrate of around 19000 kbps clip I rendered to imgur. Their re-encode of the upload results in a file that is: 960x540 29,97 fps with a 1290 bitrate so it looks awful
I understand they don't want to pay to store and play videos anymore, but why not at least allow users to have their video links automatically redirect to other upload sites? The cost for hosting archived links that just redirect to other sites would be minimal.
I'm trying to figure out the potential cost, it would take to host gfycat, as I could potentially make an alternative site to gfycat. My only concern would be the cost.
I could go with the good old Cloudflare pages, with S3-like storage that would be cheap. My only concern would be monthly estimates, cost, userbase, etc.
