Hello everyone. I had a conservative upbringing and don’t usually fit into the usual gay lifestyle. I am a laidback and driven guy. Would love to connect with likeminded country guys who might share similar views as me. Some of my interests include being in nature and traveling. Feel free to reach out if you’re interested. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
When the wells are running dry because the industrial farms are over pumping it;
When crops are failing because we trashed the climate;
When the ignorance and the hate finally drives the last queer out of town;
I kind of figured, at the end of all things, that at least we'd have each other.
And now, still alone, I'm not so sure.
I've heard that hope is what happens when you finally forget.
Here's to forgetting.
I've gotta find you (by lonestar) Living in a moment (by Ty Herdon) listen to these 2 songs and they will say it all!! Do you know these songs do they hit home with you? Where are the single gay bro countryboys, farmers and Ranchers at?? Am I one of a rare minority nowadays? Lonely alone by Reba if you know you know exactly what I'm talking about. Loved too much Ty Herdon. I'm a lyrics nut but does this kind of music resonate with anyone else or am I a the last of a dieing breed? I could go on and on with song
Good evening everyone. I used to want hundreds of acres, as I thought it would be no problem to maintain by myself. I currently have 3, and with a full time job, it's all I can do to maintain and improve it. I've slowly been able to clear brush and weeds; and planting fruit trees, grape vines and blackberries. I still have a long way to go. My advice is to start small as the mistakes will be smaller, less expensive and have lesser consequences. Small acreage means less taxes as well. If you don't have help, find some. Hard work in more enjoyable when it and the fruits of ones labor can be shared.
Let's get dialogue going about what has worked on our individual places, what we would do different if we could start again and what we still plan to do.
My family and I have lived in a VERY blue city in a historically red state for a decade. We've been talking about going somewhere rural for awhile, and like everyone else, this election has jump started the idea and we have started looking seriously.
We're southerners and aren't the biggest fans of cold, but we will make exceptions for a beautiful piece of property with the option of having extended family live with us.
So far we have landed on Virginia. Just wondering if anyone else is there and what you feel about the state?
The question we keep coming back to is this, what is the experience of living in a red county in a blue state?
Geographically, we are looking near Roanoke, but are open to any suggestions.
Would love any insight and opinions.
Anybody familiar with towns/communities in rural areas of Vermont that are more likely to be tolerant of a millennial gay couple moving in? The smaller community the better. Homesteader vibes.
I was directed to here by another sub reddit talking about blue states and homesteading. We all saw what happened last night, and even though counts will not be completely done till probably next week, I want to plan In case this sticks 🫣. What blue states are good for cattle based agriculture? I'm not gonna let this destroy my dream I've been working on for the past 4 years because I'm a woman and might need to move to a safer state where I know me and my daughter will have all forms of Healthcare accessible to us, and where my best friend won't have to fear for his life. We are a family of 4, 2 kids 2 adults, 3 dogs and I've been focusing on the hatchery/ egg production part of my program so we have a large amount of chickens. States in the lower 48 preferd, as long as that state is blue for their policies on Healthcare and lGBTQ saftey nets I could care less if our neighbors are republican, I have no problem with individual people, it's the states policies I have an issue with.
