Holy crap. I think I'm getting somewhere.
My main source of excercise is a chin up bar I have at home. I have started getting elbow pain over the last 10 days (symptoms consistent with Golfer's Elbow) and I'm wondering whether the chin ups need to stop, at least for a while. I probably caused this with bad form, so I will be careful with that going forward.
I am confused though. The Google AI says that Golfer's Elbow will get worse if I do chin ups, so I should take a break. Other sources in the internet also say this, and that's what the AI is probably using to give that recommendation. But there are some videos (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77cCx1dZp70&t=28s&ab_channel=StartingStrength ) that say the opposite. According to these other specialists, chin ups will actually help heal Golfer's Elbow.
Can anyone please provide some info here? I don't want my chin ups to stop. I already have knee pain from doing bad squats so my leg routine has already needed to stop for a bunch of weeks. But then I don't want to inflict a chronic condition on myself, which could make things harder for the rest of my life. Thanks!!
Greetings, I am an obese man from Mexico who is starting out at the gym. This information is relevant because I feel that there is no adequate training for trainers to work with people like me.
Could you advise me on what exercises to avoid and what I recommend to avoid injuries?
It is important for me not to hurt myself because I cannot stop or slow down as recommended by the endocrinologist.
(I put the progression label because it seems to be the closest)
In the case you couldn’t finish your routine and you had to pause and then return later that day to finish it? How did it go?
I need some new workout clothes that won’t break the bank!
Edit: Thanks everyone!!
I’m a regular gym goer, been going 3-4 times a week for years without much of a break (unless I’m sick or something). Quite a few times I’ve heard it mentioned that taking a week or two off is beneficial for your workouts but I’ve only found that it means I get DOMS really bad if I have a week away. What is the general consensus on taking a little time out? And what is the ideal length of time to do it?
I've always been very overweight, but recently I started using semaglutide and have lost about 30 pounds (375 -> 340 lbs). It feels good to be trending in the right direction, but i don't want to become a twink at the end of the road. My ideal body type goal is beefy bear - big chest and shoulders, but still a little bit of a belly. I would like to start weightlifting more, but I'm not sure that would make sense when I'm cutting calories to lose weight. How do people go about changing their body compositions?
I’m working on it 😔
Title. Can’t do anything too heavy or strenuous to the ol mine hole. But I’d still like to keep up my muscle growth or at least maintain it if anyone has advice.
Thoughts?
The gym lighting was being kind to me.
