I've seen quite a few threads about songs that sample video games, but most of the examples people bring up are more recent songs. There's only a handful I know of from the 80s-90s that sample video games, so I was wondering if anyone knows any other older examples of video game sampling in contemporary music? The ones I can think of are Frogger by Bad Religion, Space Invader by the Pretenders, and Where Boys Fear To Tread by the Smashing Pumpkins.
4 tracks in so far. This is too much fun 😂

I'm analyzing data on popular game soundtracks from the 90s and 2000s to try and get an idea of what practices work best; however, the numbers don't tell the full story.
What elements of game music keep you listening, even long after the credits roll?
Is it the melodies that get stuck in your head?
The ambience that the music creates?
Or is it something else entirely?
For you, what is it that turns a soundtrack from just "good" to "a timeless masterpiece" in your mind?

Hello everyone. Today I want to present you my new track. It’s composed on Gameboy Original with LittleSoundDj tracker.
What do you guys think?
I see it as a part of a space horror game!
I was watching a Bloodborne video by Parkenharbour called "I went back to Bloodborne after 2 years" and I'm trying to find the name of the intro song, in the video description it says it's an OCremix so I figured this would be the place to ask, I think some of the lyrics go "darkness burrows in, when you fall" and a second chuck which was harder to hear over the video went something like "running with the fear" although I'm not sure if I heard that part correctly. I've tried googling it and researching it but for the life of me I can't find it, does anyone know what its called?
This is the music by Philippe Vachey from the opening movie for Little Big Aventure 2, also known as Twinsen’s Odyssey, a PC game from 1997 by Adeline Software. I always loved how this tune transitions from peaceful to dramatic and then becomes overwhelmingly uplifting. A hidden gem of 90s PC VGM for sure! Cory’s cover is incredible and I was so honoured to play keys for it.
Hey guys!
I am just here posting a link to my soundcloud. I engineer a ton of electronic style videogame EDM music. Got inspired from the Pokemon games and Undertale. Unfortunately, no one likes it lol. I imagine its because of the genre. Just wanted to see what y'all think. I like a few of them. Some more than others lol. 20 Plays Probably, Gho$7 & Tell Me I'm Not Making Progress are my favorites. But a few friends didn't mind Call It.
Let me know,
Thanks
