Creches in Galway

Hi, just looking for some honest feedback on creches in Galway (Shantalla/Knocknacarra/Newcastle), I have my baby's name down for all of them but having had some bad experiences with a few creches with my first and learning the hard way I wanted to check if anyone here could give some insights into their experiences? I'm leaning toward potentially Spraoi and Sonas in Knocknacarra/Little Stars or maybe Bubbles. Thanks in advance

Fighting in Roscam this morning

Got woken up in Roscam at about 3am, some lad screaming and sounded like a car getting hit by a baseball bat or a metal pipe, lasted for around 20 mins. Does anybody know the story here? Sounded like drink involved

Starting an alternative rock band

Hello everyone, I’m Matt! I’m 25 yo. I’m a guitarist and a singer, I wrote some songs on my own and now I’d like to start a band. So in the future we could do live shows and record these songs in studio. I’m looking for another guitar player, a bass player and a drummer. The genre is kinda alternative rock, post-grunge (influences from Nirvana, Seether, Local H, Foo Fighters, Silverchair, Nickelback, Puddle of Mudd and others…) If you’re interested just dm me or leave a comment!

I have a car so I can move around Galway.

An expat asks: is it normal for the date of an election to be ambiguous?

As the header suggests, I’m a little surprised to see that a general election is apparently imminent but that the government is seemingly withholding the date. Is this normal for Ireland? Perhaps I’m poorly informed and this is normal in Europe? Educate an ignorant expat lol!

mental health resources Galway

I apologies for the vagueness im trying to convey how I feel Without doxxing myself

Ever since I remember I have struggled with Issues regarding my Body and my own Identity and I feel over time my ability to "Manage my symptoms" has gotten worse and I have become more emotionally fragile as a result.

I recently became a legal adult and left second level education, I feel like this flipped a switch somewhere as I suppose im now meant to "Fend for myself" or something but in a weird episode of like "Overconfidence while also being scared as balls" I had an incident that has left me a paranoid and emotionally volatile wreck.

I feel horrible for all the late night texts Ive sent to the 2 or so people aware of my situation. I feel horrible acting as an emotional burden. I want to sort my issues out in a way thats meaningful and solution oriented but im so fucking afraid.

Ive been considering reaching out to some sort of anonymous helpline but I have thoughts in my head of my information somehow getting used against me via blackmail, Or getting forced into some kind of Psychiatric institute because I was too honest with a therapist. Even now Im so fucking paranoid over someone seeing this, recognizing me and showing it to my parents or something. At the same time I kind of want someone I know to see this, Confront me and drag some kind of confession out of me while forcing me to get help, Its selfish as shit but fuck you im being honest.

I dont know if this is a cry into the void or a genuine ask for therapy resources in Galway. I don't want to come off as a crazy person but I feel like one. When I type all this out I cant say for certain how I "Feel" but I just don't feel right. My hearts been going 1000 miles an hour and Im so tired of my mind and body I feel like a fucking freak and I don't feel like I can do anything.

New Builds Galway

Hi all, can someone advise if there is a centralised place to find out about new builds that are actively taking offers/interest and plans for the next year? I've come across a number of them now, register interest but then find out that all the houses were sold about a year ago. It seems that the developers or estate agents don't update their websites even when all the houses are taken. Any advice here would be really appreciated

Fianna Fail

Was in the city last night and there was a lad going around with a cutout of himself with a speech bubble stating he votes for Fianna Fail it was was obviously a promotion or a photo op in advance of the upcoming election. The part that pissed me off was that there were a number of councillors and party members in attendance including our own Cheevers being escorted by at least 5 gardai. It was hardly a good use of the guards.

Cyclist

There’s a cyclist at the minute cycling out the road from bushypark to Moycullen in the middle of the lane, and turning his head at every car laughing at the fact he is causing a disturbance. You are the reason people dislike cyclists and if a car hits you, it’s your own fault! How ignorant

Late arrival from Dublin, how to get to the Cliffs?

Hi everyone! My partner and I only arrive around 10:30 earliest from Dublin to Galway and I hadn't realised that these halfday tours to the Cliffs, which depart at noon, don't run from November onwards. I saw there's a public bus, but sitting in a bus for 4-5 hours after already having taken the train in the AM from Dublin to Galway sounds grim. Is there any other option? Any tour that leaves at 11 or 12 which I missed on Google? I don't dare renting a car, have never driven on the left! Thank you kindly for your advice.

251 Citylink Galway to Cork Express Reliability

i've got an appointment in cork at 12.00pm in a few weeks, and i can't drive. it looks like my only option to get there on time and not be completely exhausted from lack of sleep when i do is to get the 251 express to Cork from Galway (which leaves me there at 11.30am), but im worried it'll arrive late. i frequently use the 763 (Galway->Dublin commuter) to commute, and that bus is godawful and almost always at least 30 minutes late, so my trust in the service is extremely low but i dont really know if i have other options?

if anyone has other suggestions for getting into cork city center before this time i'd also love to hear them. i can get a lift in to anywhere within an hour or maybe an hour and a half of the east galway region, so limerick or athlone or something are all an option. I can't make it to most places before 8am. i tried checking the trains and buses for these places though and am still worried about making it on time :') thank you

Anyone know where might change a tyre on a Xiaomi scooter in town?

What it says on the tin basically. It was bought online so I assume Halfords won't, but will anywhere else. I've looked through old posts and some recommended businesses are gone and others I could get in touch with no longer do it. I could get the tyre myself if someone could change it.

shooting a film at a private house?

This is a bit of a long shot, but I’m looking to shoot a short film with quite a few scenes taking place in the characters‘ home. The place should feel somewhat homey and have some personality. It‘s also a student production so we‘re working without a budget.

Any tips on how to find a place like that or any leads at all?

Trick or Treaters

How was it in your area, RE numbers compared to previous years? Noticeably down in Rahoon/Knocknacarra area where I am. Time wise they didn't appear until later than usual and also finished earlier. Quite peculiar as the weather too this year was by far much more favourable compared to most years when it was miserable and wintery and we had a lot more kids going around trick or treating. Have a load of sweets leftover
