Fremantle have had another pre-season injury scare, with captain Alex Pearce coming from the ground with an ankle concern.
Pearce left the field at Cockburn during match simulation at training on Saturday morning.
He re-appeared minutes later with his left ankle strapped and was put through his paces in a mini fitness test but did not return to the scrimmage.
The 29-year-old, who missed a significant chunk of football at the end of last season with a broken arm, was later spotted sitting boundary-side with his foot in a bucket of ice.
It comes after the news star recruit Shai Bolton had suffered an ankle injury at training earlier this week. Bolton was set for scans on Saturday but did not appear to be sore as he trained on the bike, joined later in the session by midfielder Hayden Young.
Veteran Michael Walters also hopped on the bike as the rest of his teammates started match sim, with the forward also spotted boxing alongside Bolton.
Pearce, Walters and Bolton were all named to play for the Indigenous All-Stars against Fremantle on February 15 at Optus Stadium.
More to come.
Another sticker on the box trailer. Some aging better than others.
Sean Darcy playfully running up and shouldering Liam Reidy and other talls as they walk back to the huddle. Looks like a happy pup.
Voss leading a number of run thrus
Sonny trains with intensity, even rehab.
Heath Chapman no longer skinny
Bolton slap back over the shoulder to Jackson, looks nice
Sean Darcy joins initial match sim then trains ruck on sidelines
Nev is a beast now
Simpson looking VERY sharp
Sharp does not look very Simpson, but looks insanely fit, never below 3/4 pace it seems.
Murphy Reid set Sharpy up coming out of defense for Moose to come straight over the top of him. Sharpy let him know he’s not happy with the delivery.
Moose outmarked Treacy. Treacy lets out this massive 'Aarggghh!!! NO!!! FUCK!!!!' Love blokes who HATE losing.
Draper and Chapman don't look like skinny kids any more. Neither does O'Driscoll, even tho he's still light on his toes and looking as comfortable as anyone in the middle.
Sean Darcy says he’s feeling good. Did a lot of ruck drills on the sidelines with Naismith.
Hi all,
I’m going to see a footy match this March for the first time at Optus (FYI I’m Canadian, not Australian). I’ve seen that public transit on TransPerth is free to and from the stadium on game days. Is this true? If so, can someone explain to me how this works? I’m coming from Midland station, so do I just show my ticket and say that I’m going to that match? It’s a bit confusing as I’m not used to being able to take free transit to a game, and if I can avoid paying for transit, that would be great! Thanks.
Hi guys, West coast fan, I come in peace! My son had wished for a Freo Guernsey for Christmas only to change his mind in the lead in weeks. Needless to say, we bought it and now I am willing to part with it. If anyone is interested am open to reasonable offers. Good luck for 2025
From about 52.30 Hamish talks about Andy's contract then Angus's concussion stuff.
Hi All! I’m a collector of Match Worn and Player Issue Fremantle Dockers items with numbers on the back, and am always looking to grow my collection. Feel free to follow me to track my collection or reach out to me if you have any items for sale. Cheers! 😁
With a titillating team and fixture-list, we’re all hanging out for the season to start.
But with news pretty light on, desperation for Freo content is at an all time high.
So, be honest: What is the poorest-quality content you would consume to get your Freo fix this January?
Season Grade: Luke Jackson
B
Jackson started 2024 on fire, delivering arguably his two best performances of the year to kick-start his campaign. From there, his form steadily declined, returning to a level similar to 2023.
The key talking point remains the Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson partnership. In 2024, they took a positive step forward. This time last year, we were asking, “Can they work together?” After numerous impressive performances between the two, even sceptical fans now believe their partnership can lead to success. The concern, however, is Darcy’s injury history, which has prevented us from seeing how they perform together over a full season.
Heading into 2025, one of Jackson’s main goals should be improving his marking ability. He has the size, athleticism, and positioning to excel as a key forward, but his habit of attempting to double-tap the ball down to himself in order to complete the mark, which I call “the volleyball touch”, instead of taking the mark the first time full-chested is starting to become frustrating for fans. This technique rarely works and it needs to be addressed.
Best Game: Round 2 vs North Melbourne It was tough choosing between this game and his Round 12 performance against Melbourne. Round 2 was his best individual effort, while Round 12 was his best performance with Darcy. For me, his game against North Melbourne stands out. Trailing by 32 points, Jackson dominated all over the ground, taking intercept marks, clunking marks inside 50, kicking crucial goals, and asserting himself in the midfield. This performance sparked All-Australian discussions for Jackson.
Conclusion Jackson’s 2024 output mirrored 2023. With training and a full season from Darcy, Jackson should aim to kick 30+ goals in 2025 and improve his marking capabilities to unlock his full potential.
