Freebording
Freebords emulate the behavior of snowboards on asphalt. Additionally to a more or less typical longboard, two center-wheels are mounted close to the trucks, giving it the unique ability to slide over the asphalt.

Hi, I am a lifelong snowboarder who finally bought my first ever Freebord. I got the 5X model and have been loving learning the ropes.
As I learn, I have been playing around with the bindings a lot. My feet have been slipping off my board, and sometimes I struggle to control the board. I haven’t found a binding configuration I really like yet. Currently, I have each binding set to roughly +15 degrees, rotated outward on each foot. I have the bindings at max height setting, which seems to be most comfortable, as anything less is too tight (I wear thick shoes + ankle braces).
I have used these binding settings because of my snowboarding background, but obviously freeboarding is different, so I’m wondering what other riders use. Are your bindings tight, snug, or loose with some room above your feet? How do you angle your bindings—are they the same for both feet? Or are they even angled at all? Do you always keep your feet pretty centered on your board (eg middle of the foot on the middle of the binding, or favoring one side)?
This run includes a spin trick I've been working on (after the cab 180) it involves getting into the overslide/reverse carve stance from a front side 180 (rather than the usual backside drift into overslide).
For now it just looks like a spin, but in principle it works into an overslide 👌
Does anybody here ride on dirt? I'm referring to hard packed dirt, like on a popular hiking trail. If so, how does it affect your bearings, wheels, etc.?
Only 2 left, time to stop the freestyle 😥
It's been a while that I've occasionally glanced at the freeboard website to purchase a new board. Most of the times I see that a bundle is unavailable because of missing edge wheels. Whats the matter with that? Honestly this is a bit of a bummer given that these need to be changed periodically.
Thanks for having me in this sub, everybody. I snowboard, but I've never tried a Freebord. SoCal riders, where you at? Where do you ride?
Hi all, I'm looking to pick up a freebord. I'm in the US, LA area. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can pick a freebord up? Do people just order from Europe and pay shipping + import or is there a US reseller?
Tutorial/How I Learned it will be on the channel soon! 🤙🔥
Also, if you snowboard, what kind of board grab is this called?
Hello, I don’t know if freebord as a company went underwater or not. My boyfriend used to ride the first version but had to give up since a certain part kept failing. Now I’m trying to purchase one of the newer versions for him, but all the right length boards on their site are sold out both for the 5 and 5x, as well as the edge wheels.
I’m wondering if the company is just dead. If not, where might I find a used bord or does anyone know how often the company restocks? I just don’t want to buy the old version because of the repeated issue my boyfriend had with it. I already checked eBay.
Also, even if I bought a smaller size, since my boyfriends on the cusp height wise, the edge wheels are out of stock so I can’t buy the rest of the board. I wish I could just purchase all that and buy the edge wheels used or something. Or, are there any alternative products/companies with the same kind of boards that are reliable? Anyways, any advice wanted.
Without spraining my ankle preferably, Tried about 2 years ago and had wheel bite throw me forward, locking my left ankle in the stirrup and spraining it (plantar flexion)
We hope to see some of you come out for the biggest event in the USA. It is the 18-22 in Salt Lake City, Utah! Some of the gnarliest hills in the states.
Can anyone speak to the transition from wakeboarding to freebording? Looking for a way to sharpen my skills during the off-season and trying to figure out if I should pick one of these up. I have experience wakeboarding and longboarding but not snowboarding.
Hey im selling a slightly used Freebord 5x if interested https://www.ebay.com/itm/296587140122?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=uapifvzlq3c&sssrc=2051273&ssuid=uapifvzlq3c&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Hi, I'm trying to get into the spirt. Before I commit to buying a new freebord I'd like to buy a used one for a bit cheaper. I live in the Netherlands and there seem to be no freebords on Maarktplaats which is an online shop similar to ebay for the NL. Do you have any suggestions where I could find a used freebord?
Hi!
I recently learned about the existence of the freeboard by watching a video of Easy Riders and i got super hyped!
I have already experience with snowboarding and i go kitesurfing regulary but i dont have skating experience.
Close by where i live is a small mountain to which i could go up by bus and ride down for 10-13km or so. Its going from ~730m to 300m. Is that steep enough?
PS.: I would obviously practice at some smaller hills in my town first.
The track can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKo0D8yZo68&ab_channel=Outposts
Would be nice to hear if that track is steep enough to have a nice freeboarding session, because that is the only spot where i could use it on a weekly basis and if you guys say its not steep enough than it doesnt make much sense for me to buy one.
Thanks guys and keep rollin ;)
Hi all! I'm a long-time snowboarder 25+ years, but I never really skated other than a few tries on a longboard that ended up with a twisted ankle a few years back. I found a used 80cm Freebord Botanist Bamboo Series board online that's currently being shipped to me in really good condition, with what looks like the original wheels on it and I'm super excited to try it out.
I'd specifically like to hear from non-skateboarders on here - how hard was it to get started on a freebord? What are the major adjustments I need to make as a snowboarder? Are there any parts I should change out to get an even more snowboard-like experience?
Also, any beginner videos specifically for snowboarders would be much appreciated!
Hello, I am trying to understand if the new 5x trucks would fit under any old board that I could buy second hand, seamlessly and without modifications to the board. Thank you in advance.
I hope to see some of you monkeys in California this weekend for the Parliament Invitational 🦉
I picked up a g3r board from a homie that recently moved down here to Florida from some place that has hills. So far I've been out on it 3 times, totaling about 3 and half hours on the board. So far so good! Ive been snowboarding on and off for around 30 years, so learning the freebord feels familiar and natural even though it has its own thing going on.
The hardest thing so far is finding a good hill! I'll try to post some videos soon! Stay tuned!
I've been out a handful of times and I think I'm getting the balance of the board. But whenever I go out to ride, I feel like the wheels (outer 4) are too grippy. I wish that they were more slippery or slid more so that it better mimics the feel of snowboarding. I know replacement parts are hard to come by in the US. Do any of you guys have any recommendations on slick replacement wheels (with easy access)?
I'm an avid snowboarder and have always wanted one of these. I recently picked this up from someone that was selling it locally for practically nothing. I've watched several videos on Youtube and have been out a couple of times. But man, is it different from snowboarding! Do you guys have any tips you can share for a newbie that's trying to get comfortable with the speed and riding this thing? Thanks in advance!
As a trick you could just call this an overslide out of a spin, inspired by Quentin. The trick looks dope af and I highly recommend trying it out!
