I'm a displaced NY'er from Brooklyn. One of the only things I really miss about NYC is my morning roll and coffee, either at work or on my way to work. Down here though, trying to find a good Kaiser roll like in NYC seems an impossible task. The Giant near me used to have good ones, but then they stopped baking them on-site and corporate started shipping them in frozen. If you asked for one of the frozen bags of 6 you had a good chance of enjoying all 6 (though they developed a weird tendency for the crust to separate), provided you rebagged them at home into Ziplock bags. In the cellophane bags they come in you'd be lucky to get two before you had a bag of hammers.

Lately though, they've changed again, and they're now about half the size. I think English Muffins might be bigger, but still the same price. I've tried rolls from Weiss and, while they're good and I enjoy them, the crust just isn't right.

I want that crisp, kinda flakey crust that leaves a little pile of crumbs behind, not a crust like on a loaf of white bread.

Anyone know of a store or bakery in the area with such rolls, or do I really have to start baking my own?

I need to get the brake pads and rotors replaced on my 2016 Buick enclave. What experiences have you had with some of the garages in the area and what is the usual price point for something like this?

Years ago (probably over a decade), I remember there was some kind of food stand outside the Lowe's in Central Park. I never got anything from it, but I always remember the smell coming from it was amazing. It smelled of heat and spice, if that makes any sense. They might've been selling sausages or bratwurst in some capacity, but I don't know for sure. Anyone know what place I'm talking about?

Are there any language learning enthusiasts in the area/people looking to improve their language skills? I thought maybe it might be worth making a meetup event at a cafe or something where we can break up, practice different languages. Or, we can do a specific few languages like French/Spanish/English or something.

I'm looking for a golden retriever puppy, either male or female. I grew up with Golden Pyrenees and raised a Great Pyrenees. I've also been around an Aussiedoodle and helped take care of a Golden Retriever English Cream while my sister was gone for a year. I can spend up to $1,000. I love dogs and really want to have a furry friend again.

I would love to hear from someone and get pictures of the pupper and parents.

Note: this thread is for finding someone selling a lovely golden retriever puppy not to hear opinions. Some go to shelters, some go to a breeder. I don't care which you go to or want people to go to. Both have puppies and dogs in need of homes and it's up to the individual to find a friend at the shelter or find a friend at a breeder. Either way a dog is about to become a happy friend.

Looking for a book club, or gaming club of people that are a little more like minded. I've been in book clubs before but I realize that they might not have the same interests I do. I love fantasy books, more open-mindedness and diversity. I really like gaming, reading, writing and coffee (or tea). But also cozying up and chatting with friends via discord. I'm just looking for a new group of people that I can connect with, and or game with!

I have kids, but am a single mom. I don't think others have to have kids to join, just hoping to connect with other adults! People that are local (if we are feeling it), but online is great too!

I feel a bit silly posting this but I think I lost a green reusable fabric shopping bag across the street from the Blue Cow Ice Cream downtown last night. I live an hour away so I can’t look for it myself but maybe someone on here happens to be downtown and sees it. It had nothing in it except a couple reusable produce bags, but I am surprised this morning by how bummed I feel about losing that bag. I had picked it up almost 15 years ago while shopping in a small town in Vermont. The text on the side is some variation of “shop locally”.

Is anyone else super bummed about this brewery closing? I know I am. When they opened I went in and loved the building. It was a mid week and got a tour of the place and saw such potential. Loved the live music nights but did feel like they weren’t taking the place to its full potential. Then they just shut shop and poof. Sad…
