I'm going to tackle the age old question of "What do you wear for work?" Love to hear suggestions and or your signature scent. I'll start.. I usually wear something light like Hermes H24 or Escentric Molecule 01. Nothing offensive or too potent, a nice green or fresh smelling scent for the personal use.
I have Dior Sauvage Elixer, an EDP, and I notice 3 sprays last only 1-2 hours tops on me. I don't get noseblind either and my coworkers have only ever noticed it once in a tight office setting where I've worn it consistently for a year. I've tried inner elbow, wrist, neck, hell even armpits, but it won't change.
What similar fragrances would you recommend with much stronger concentrations or where should I try spraying next time to make it last the absolute longest?
What is the best Tom Ford fragrance specifically for winter?
Title, what should I wear? I was thinking something fresh like Y EDP but wanna buy something new
Hello! An odd request but, I'd recently used a friend's shampoo - bedhead colour goddess. The shampoo smelt divine, a really strong vanilla caramel scent. I would like to find a perfume as close to it as possible, any suggestions?
Bought Dior Sauvage Eau de Parfum recently. Do I finish Eau de Fraiche or switch to Sauvage? Which is better for school?
I’ve become really interested in houses with unusual notes/accords which come together to tell a story, similar to Toskovat. Does anyone have any recommendations? I’m not thinking mass appealing, more about fragrances as an interesting piece of art. Thank you all, I love this community!
I ordered a sampler set from Deathandfloral. I believe I picked the moody atmosphere pack. The scents it came with are:
Overall I am so happy with them and absolutely love all three! However I have tried to wear all three of them on separate days, and even with only putting on the tiniest amount they all had me nauseous within the first 30 minutes. Is my nose just too sensitive now? I am so sad because I really want to wear these. 😭
I signed up for the waitlist just out of curiosity and the next day I got a text message saying I was randomly selected to get in. I didn’t do it, it’s too expensive to splurge almost $200 on during the holiday season! They sent a message saying they’ll let me know if I get chosen again.
Not gonna lie it gave me some FOMO panic and I almost considered pulling the trigger because of how “rare” spots are. I have to wonder though, since getting in the next day for something so limited seems a bit too good to be true. Has anyone who has turned away a spot, been offered one again soon after? I feel that might be their marketing strategy 🤔 or maybe I done goofed and missed my chance?
i really like vanilla 28 but i prefer it layered. ive layered it with yum pistachio but it really overpowers it imo and i layer it with sticky dates which is my favorite so far. any good, maybe fruity perfumes that layer well over it?
I used Macy’s money & Star money rewards (from Christmas shopping, lol), and scored this Creed sample set for myself for just $ 5.00! 🥰
This is a long shot, but last year I was in Seoul and I can across the best smelling scent for an oil diffuser. I believe it was the only brand being sold there. At the time I didn’t buy it because I was worried about getting it back home without breaking. Now I would really love to order it, if anyone has any clue on the brand name?
Anyone know a higher quality, longer lasting, more expensive version of Zara For Him Red Edition? It smells great but barely lasts .
I’ve purchased several fragrances in The Essence Vault and I will no longer buy any more. Some of the fragrances I’ve bought are really good and other smell horrendous. Some of the ones that smell horrible have been reviewed by some youtubers as really good and viceversa. This led me to believe that this company is so inconsistent with their batches and while some of them are spot on, others smell like cleaning products. Let’s review some of the fragrances I’ve purchased.
First, the good ones:
Now, let’s go with the bad ones:
The reason I’m not buying more of their fragrances is because of their inconsitency. I see so many different opinions towards the same scent that I think that the quality control is so poor that sometimes they hit when mixing the essences and other times, they don’t and they end up creating really fragrances that smell like cleaning products.
Btw, I’ve tried to post some reviews on their website but they only post the good ones.
Here my two cents. Hope it’s useful to anybody.
Simple question I have for you all:
Do fragrances smell different on your wrist than they do from your chest/neck?
If so, does anyone know why, or which is more accurate to the true scent?
I’ve been sensing different odors from either spot, not with all fragrances, but some.
I feel like a lot of men love Pink Sugar by aqualina, but to me as a woman who is highly interested in fragrance it smells childish and cheap, with no depth. But it seems like a lot of men don’t see that and makes me wonder if I’m spending money on expensive perfume for nothing. Have you ladies experienced this, and for men who are knowledgeable with fragrance what are your opinions on pink sugar?
Edit: I do still buy perfumes that I personally love, it’s not purely influenced by what men like. But I do take into consideration on what scents are attractive and I was just saying it got me wondering if cheap simple fragrance is all it takes. I get some people don’t care about attraction and what men think and I think that’s great for you. But I also don’t think if someone takes that into consideration, there’s anything wrong with that. Everyone’s different
how long was shipping and did you have to pay customs?
Also if you've tried the new coffee sents they just released please lmk thoughts!
Thanks in advance!
Maison alhambra’s(MA) Tux was very popularly known as the closest ysl tuxedo clone there is but maybe due to some copyright reasons MA decided to change its name to Winsome. Apparently to a Reddit post the winsome is now 100ml compared to tux’s 90 and the colouration of the liquid is a bit darker and seems more oily and stronger patchouli notes. Can someone please let me know if winsome’s performance & projection is the same as tux; and is the ‘stronger’ pathouli note make it even closer to the original ysl Tuxedo.
The olfactory fatigue Im trying to avoid is a more of a long term phenomenon. I’ve noticed that over the years I’ve stopped noticing my The Scent from Boss. I can sense it for the first few minutes after I’ve sprayed it but after that it’s as if I haven’t applied anything. A friend has the exact same complaint about her Versace Versense.
Switching between multiple fragrances seems like a solution. A costly one, I can’t afford thoe.
Have you found any other ways to deal with this?
I have been diving into niche fragrances by decants and wanted to give my two cents on these. Please do give your thoughts as well if you've had the chance to smell these in their entirety!
Xerjoff - Naxos: The opening and dry-down is beautiful and I love how this smells on other people - the floral/citrusy top notes, along with the honey/cinnamon/tobacco/vanilla wombo combo are addicting. But, it becomes a bit too sweet and cloying on my skin, only being tolerable when it has dried down after a few hours. That being said, it is absolutely amazing in longevity, projection, and sillage. I definitely understand why this is popular and garners compliments; unfortunately, it is not for me.
Roja Dove - Elysium Parfum Cologne: I wanted to see what the hype was behind Elysium, being THE "blue" fragrance. The opening and the heart of this is addicting with all its florals, citruses, and spices. But, then the vetiver kicks in and stands out a bit too much, was off-putting the first time I smelled it. As for longevity, it quickly disappeared for both my friend and I, and only the vetiver stuck its nose out among the other notes. I will continue using it and see how it holds up.
Roja Dove - Isola Blu: Now this one caught me off guard. From the nozzle and the first few seconds of applying it, it gives off a "green" and spicy aroma, and had my doubts of it being "Blu." But, then it immediately transforms to the best citrus/floral/spice opening/mid I have ever smelled - I was in awe. There is this smell akin to lemon-lime-sour green apple, and intermingled with thyme to give behind it a very subtle Tiger Balm/menthol note that is very physically felt in the nose. It only continued to get better, and I finally thought I had found THE fragrance. But, yet again, the base notes threw me off again. After 2-3hrs, I go to take a sniff and for some reason am hit with something that smelled faintly of what I could only describe as fecal-like or dried drool. Needless to say, I immediately went to wash it off. I will keep trying it and see if anything changes though.
Clive Christian - Jump Up & Kiss Me Hedonistic: This is the first Clive fragrance I have tried thoroughly. I could tell this fragrance was of high quality, but it made be absolutely sick to my stomach and was revolting. Even though I couldn't stand it, I continued to let it sit on my wrist hoping something good would come from it, but no, nothing did. I scrubbed it off and threw away the sample. I love leather and cherry, but I'm not sure what happened here.
I know my reviews may come up a bit too "shallow," I still have much to learn in the world of perfumery, but I am looking forward to see what others have to say.
My next samples coming in are Frederic Malle's Portrait of a Lady, and Clive Christian's X for Men - fingers crossed!
Sprayed a sample of this I had and I absolutely loved it. Went to try to find it online and I can’t find it, and all the posts on here about it are older. What have been the developments? Did they discontinue the line? Is it relaunched as something else now? The older discussions mention they were bought by L’Oreal. Am I just out of luck now? Is there something similar you recommend as a replacement? Any input is much appreciated!
I recently tried Narciso Rodriguez Bleu Noir EdT (not the 'extreme' version) - just one spray on my wrist as a 'why not' while buying another fragrance.
I hated it - just thoroughly unpleasant. I can't even describe what it smelled like but it didn't smell 'off' or like something had died or anything like that. It was kind of 'hollow', like it was missing the main ingredient. Not weak - more like you were making a dahl but forgot to add the lentils so all you had was the tempered spices. Married to the dish, it might be enjoyable (maybe) but in isolation it's harsh and unpleasant.
Perhaps the best impression I can give is that it put me in the mind of a facial cleanser that is deliberately unscented and advertised as very good for some skin condition or other; a medicated product, though not particularly medicinal smelling or even 'soapy' per se.
The strongly unpleasant note/accord did abate somewhat after an hour but was still present and, again, not enjoyable.
However, many (4-5?) hours later, I smelled my wrist and . . . kind of liked it. To me, it was intriguing. Not really a scent I think I might necessarily have chosen normally but nevertheless I just kept smelling my wrist and it lasted until after I went to bed that night.
I miss it and I will be heading to the counter tomorrow to spray it again - opening notes be damned. (I am even thinking of buying it purely to wear at home so I can relive that experience.)
Looking on Fragrantica, it shows the base notes as vetiver, cedar, ebony wood and amber, with a middle note of musk, but I am not at all sure which one really contributed to that kind of mysterious, interesting, 'just-one-more-sniff' quality for me.
So, I need to call on the brains trust here to help me identify not only that lingering base that is now the olfactory equivalent of an 'ear worm' but also those opening notes that I disliked, so I can seek out the former and avoid the latter.
(As an 'extra credit', if anyone knows of scents that have that same base note/accord but with a different - ideally unassuming - opening, that would help me single out what it is I am smelling and try to figure out what I should try.)
Sincere apologies if this kind of question falls foul of the rules. This post is about trying to find out specific notes I am reacting to in a known fragrance - not to identify an unknown fragrance or (really,) find recommendations for things that smell like a known fragrance. (Indeed, I do not want something that smells like that, overall!)
Many thanks,
dan

Just ordered a gift box for my wife for Christmas and I can't find labels anywhere on the bottles or giftbox. Has anybody ordered these boxes before? I'm i missing hidden tags somewhere in the bottles? They're not on the top or bottom of the bottles either.
I (23F) started getting into perfumes a few months ago, my usual favourites are Lush fragrances (Lord Of Misrule, Turmeric Latte). I've sampled a few Lancôme and Chanel, but didn't like them, so I decided to try something completely different and was intrigued by Zoologist fragrances. I ordered four samples: Sloth, Dragonfly, Panda and Northern Cardinal.
I tested Sloth first because it was the one I was most excited about. The opening is very strong on hay, lavender and camomile, but also has something sweet due to the acai berries. The scent gives an impression of humidity, a like a tropical forest. Then it becomes more floral and spicy, but the note of hay and acai remains. The dry down is mainly hay, with a slight mushroom smell and something sweet. I really liked it and I'd like to order a full bottle, it's probably the one I liked the most of the four.
I then tested Dragonfly. I was impressed by the balance of grapefruit, rice, angelica and ginger notes in the opening. I don't usually like floral fragrances, but I loved the water lily note in this one. I'd never smelled an aquatic note before either, but it was very recognisable and impressive and continues throughout the dry down. I'd love a full bottle of this one too, but for me it's really a spring or summer fragrance.
Panda has a note of wet earth that is very present from the opening apple and white flower notes are also noticeable. After a few hours it becomes much more animalic and a green tea scent appears. The dry down is very woody and animalic. That's exactly how I imagine a real panda would smell. I don't think I'd wear this fragrance because the combination of notes is too masculine for me, but I'd like to smell it on someone else.
Northern Cardinal has a very lemony, green opening, the smell reminds me of freshly cut grass. Then comes a leathery note, followed by a light floral and powdery note. After a few hours the fragrance becomes more woody, but the green, lemony and leathery notes remain. I enjoyed testing this fragrance, but I find it too eclectic, It would be difficult to find an occasion to wear it. However, it suits the image of the bird very well.
I'm still thinking of ordering samples for Bat, Harvest Mouse, Penguin and Snowy Owl before deciding which one to buy, because I'm planning to buy one or two in the coming year.
But above all, I'd read comments about Zoologist fragrances that said they weren't wearable in public, but for me, these four fragrances are completely wearable.
What do you think about Zoologist fragrances? Which one is your favourite if you like them?
Does it increase longitivity of other perfumes? Wondering if there's any use for You considering how light it is on its own...
