Has FL SNAP customer service improved lately?

The last time I tried to contact them, it was literally impossible and this was in Sept 2023. I'd wait on hold for 3-4 hours and no one would answer. I'd like to speak to someone about my renewal this month but wondering if it's become possible to even reach anyone there lately?

Can EBT Cash be Transferred to a Bank Card or Cash App Card?

Hey everyone,

I'm hoping to get some clarification on using EBT cash benefits. I currently receive EBT cash benefits, and I was wondering if it's possible to transfer these funds onto a traditional bank card or a Cash App card.

I've been exploring different options for managing my benefits more conveniently, and I'm curious if anyone has had experience with this or knows the regulations surrounding it.

Any insights, tips, or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Ended my benefits without reviewing my renewal.

I receive SNAP in Texas for myself and my 3 kids, I sent my renewal last month as soon as they told me to renew and today I checked the app to check my balance and it said my benefits were ending and I wouldn’t be receiving more deposits. I started crying in the grocery store. I didn’t get a letter saying they were ending, I sent my renewal in on time and nothing about our situation has changed. I checked the status of my renewal application and it hasn’t even been reviewed. Is this happening to anyone else? This happened to us with Medicaid last year (there was a glitch on our account they couldn’t figure out) and we had to just reapply instead of renew which created a pause in my kids medicaid coverage. I’m terrified I’ll have to reapply for SNAP all over again and wait months to be approved, I don’t know how we’ll survive. Are people still waiting months to get approved for SNAP in Texas? Does anyone have a similar story?

Approved but question about work assessment this week

In Ohio for reference, I have the appraisal/assessment scheduled in a few days and just got approved during the week, I am in the ABAWD category. My question is, if I already have a potential job interview lined up that will start me working full time hours in the next couple weeks, will I still have to go through with the assessment? I made them aware I was actively looking for work when I applied for assistance at least, should I call them before my appointment about it or just tell the when I go in on my scheduled day? This is my first time with this process so literally no idea what I'm doing or what the assessment even entails.

Applying in Florida

I'm self employed and made a cash sale. How do I prove the earned income in this case? Is depositing it in the bank and showing them proof of the deposit enough?

Question about financial release form

(FL) I qualify for SNAP bc im disabled and low income (SSDI.) My partner is also disabled and low income SSDI. We are not married. all of the house/utility/car bills are in my name and I pay those and he doesn't contribute. He contributes financially to the household but not towards anything that would get counted for SNAP. Anyhow, he wanted me to inform SNAP that he lived here but I didn't want it to affect my benefits (foodstamps+ Medicare waiver) and he didn't think he qualified since he doesnt contribute to the household bills that SNAP counts. he insisted bc he just wanted to be transparent and just assumed that we're doing something wrong if we don't inform them. so I added him to my household, but I told them that he wasn't applying for benefits and just that he lived in the home. They didnt enroll him in any benefits and my SNAP amount of $120/month stayed the same as before.

Recently, I had to renew benefits and SNAP has a new system here and it's showing that they are pending enrolling him in Medicare part B but they're asking for some info first. They asked me for his child support court order so I sent that. Now they're asking for permission to view his bank account and the release form says its valid from may 2024-april 2025. How many months do they go back from may 2024 to look at his accounts? Do they look at the last 3 or 6 months? Or 9 months? Or do they just look from may 2024 and on?

Applying for FL SNAP

I am on maternity leave and will not be able to go back after having my son. I haven’t received an FMLA payment since March, and DCF is requesting a verification letter to be filled out with last 4 pay stubs and loss of income. Can I submit my FMLA payments or submit last 4 stubs from February ( when I left work due to being hospitalized ) I just want to make sure I submit the right paperwork and them seeing I haven’t had an actual paycheck since Feb and a leave payment since March. We are struggling pretty bad on one income right now. Any advice is appreciated.

Question about Loading EBT Cash onto Card

Hey everyone,

I have a quick question about loading EBT cash onto my card, and I'm hoping someone here might have some insight or experience with this. My case is in Los Angeles County

So, currently, I'm having some trouble accessing the provider's card on the app, the option to sign up and have the card sent to me isn't there.I figured I could load my cash onto a different bank card instead. I'm asking about using a bank card instead cause it would be easier to pay for things online and have it delivered to my house.

I've tried reaching out to DPSS/LA County, but I haven't gotten a clear answer yet. I'm thinking that as long as my SSN/account isn't receiving a paycheck from a job that they wouldn't care about me loading my ebt cash onto my bank account card.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation or knows anything about this process? Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Benefit amount change and no card yet

Hello all I applied 4/11 and was approved for 183 a month. I found this out via the portal. It said my card was sent 4/27 and I've yet to receive it for anything in the mail. I checked the portal today and it says my monthly amount is now 275. We're in lousina. Does it normally take this long ti receive a card or anything in the mail. I have t gotten one thing from them. Any idea why my amount would suddenly change as well?

Reporting Lowered Income To Get Back Original Benefits - When?

Hello. Orange County, California. Reporting for only 1 person:

So it seems my income for month of April exceeded the IRT ($1580). I made $1589 and my EBT is dropping in June from $291 a month to $23... lucky me.

My income is always fluctuating and $1580+ is a complete anomaly for me. Most months I am making only a few hundred dollars, and I am looking to make no more than $1000 in May (way below my IRT).

I'm confused about many things:

  1. When do I report these changes for May? ASAP?
  2. How should I? Can I just do this over the BenefitsCal portal? Upload my documents and it'll all be fine?
  3. I'm wondering if that would result in my benefits in June still being $23, but my benefits going back up in July then?

Thanks for all the help!

AZ EBT failed to interview

Maybe I’m just dumb, but I have been on EBT a year and just renewed at the beginning of April. I got an acceptance letter (that I’m kicking myself for throwing away) and thought nothing of it. Well, I was out of town this week and when I got back I checked my account and it hadn’t been refilled. So I went online and saw I had been denied for “failure to interview” dated April 29. I never got any notice that I needed to interview and the office isn’t open again until Monday (the 13th). Am I going to have to reapply from the start again?? I’m so frustrated. It took me almost 4 months to get on EBT in the first place and I had to take like 4 days off of work to go down to the office and I can’t go 4 months without nutrition assistance right now.

Scratch off winnings in Florida and SNAP

So my neighbor won $1k on a scratch off. She doesn’t have an ID and has offered to give me $100 to drive her and cash her ticket. Will this affect my Snap earnings?

EBT Card, do I need a new one?

Hey everyone, I'm sorry for being a bother but I recently got layed off due to unexpected company closure and have had to apply for benefits for the first time in years, since I believe 2019 to be exact. I don't have my old card but its' been 5 years at this point. Does anyone know if they'll automatically send me a new card since it's been so long, or do I need to put a new card request in? This is for Florida and any help is appreciated

Quick question (NJ) pls help

I recently moved in my cousin’s apartment basement. We eat separately and I have two kids under 2. A one year old and newborn. I want to apply for food stamps. When we write the letter stating that I live with her but eat separately, do they call and confirm things with her? Confirm that I live with her and eat separate? Almost everyone I know say they never really call to confirm. They just approve and keep it pushing

Ending Calfresh Ebt

As the title says I no longer need EBT, I’ve had it since Feb this year. These past 2 months I’ve been getting semi consistent income ($600) a week doing independent work, but haven’t reported it yet. The Ebt money still really helped me and I could really use it in the moment. But now I have some money saved up (2kish) and I’m ready to hop off Ebt, I’m soon gonna full time as well. I recently got an email about submitting my sar 7 report, which I don’t know what it fully is. But I’m wondering if I just don’t submit it will the benefits stop and nothing will happen? I just worried about not reporting the income I got, anybody have advice on the matter?

[NY] Filling out my parent recertification, what should I put down for resources? $0? Random numbers? Or should I be honest?

My parents and my four younger siblings are recipients of SNAP benefits, and my father's disability was approved a few days ago after a three-year wait. They have no income, but I primarily provide for them; they live rent-free and have some discretionary funds.

Currently, my father's bank account is empty, he has only a small amount of cash on hand and his disability payments haven’t come in yet. I recently transferred over $10,000 to my mother's bank account so that she and my father can fulfill their pilgrimage to Hajj. Three of my siblings are children and cannot work, while my younger brother is in college and works a part-time job. Although he likely has some savings, I don't believe it's much.

If keeping that amount in my mother's account could pose an issue, I can ask her to return the money, and I'll purchase their pilgrimage tickets myself. Could you advise me on the maximum amount she can have in her account without affecting their benefits? I'm completing the recertification online and can't leave this section blank. Additionally, do they verify this information?

Cancelling in Minnesota?

I got a new job a few months ago so i don't need benefits anymore. For a few weeks I'd spend a few hours almost daily on hold to talk to someone but well, the lines in MN are 9-5 M-F and have at minimum a few hours wait. There just isn't time while working and I don't want to risk my new job by immediately faking sick or something so I can go sit on the phone at home. I've looked online and there's nowhere to email. The only office I know of closed. They don't seem to be figuring it out in their own because I checked and there's May benefits too. I haven't been using anything.

What can I do?

NJ Income

Hi

Is a one time interest payment from a government Bond considered as income for the state of NJ?

The bond accumulated over a couple years and was cashed out all at once with an interest payment.

Is that relevant to update for monthly income, given that it is not regular or recurring and is done and dusted (and also was mostly accumulated over an earlier period of time, even though it was cashed all at once.)

Does NJ have it's own view on this and is the federal view the same?

Thanks for your help.

LOST BENEFITS OUT OF NOWHERE. Seeking contact info / guidance. • LA COUNTY

My benegits were reduced to $0 and I’m struggling without food for weeks. Every number I call on the back of the card twists me in circles. I’ve tried 10 times.

When I go go the site, the only area I see that might help me is Apply.

Does anyone have any advice? A phone number? Maybe if I apply again it will trip my name in the system and I’ll still get a call?

Any help? Thanks all. 🫶

advice for applying for Calfresh in Sonoma County? (California)

I looked over the application a bit and noticed that it requires me and my partner (they/them) to apply together because we live together. I have $0 income and they have income that would definitely qualify them on their own.

When we've applied separately while living in other counties, a big factor was that I'm vegetarian and dairy-free and they're an onmivore, so we mostly eat separate meals. We share a few staples (flour, oil, some snacks).

The thing is, a social worker in another county told us once that even if we did share food we should say we never do or neither of us would qualify--with the implication that CalFresh assumes that if you have a roommate you should just steal all their food instead of buying it yourself. (I have no way of verifying this for that county, but we were both approved there.)

How should we answer this question for the Sonoma county application?

If you have any other tips about applying in Sonoma county, I'd love to hear them!

When do I report workstudy job?

(TX) I’ve recently gotten hired for a workstudy job on campus at my university in Texas. When would I report this change? How would I? Would it be considered a regular job and then I would specify that it is workstudy? Would they just automatically know? Thank you!

How Much Food Stamps Will I Lose?

I’m in NY- I lost my job back in October of 2023 due to cancer- I wasn’t able to apply for unemployment at that time because I was still in recovery and in order to apply and get unemployment funds you have to be “ready, able and willing” to look for work and at that time I was in no shape to do that-but I found out that I’m able to apply for unemployment in my state for up to several months after being let go. After I got let go I applied for food stamps since I had 0 income and I received the full amount. But now my health has gotten better and I’m going to apply for unemployment benefits and I know I need to let the government know I’ll be receiving these benefits. My question is: can anyone tell me how much in food stamps I will lose? Or will I lose all of it??

Is anyone in the household age 60 or older, blind or disabled? Clarification

Silly question but I just want some clarification on this

When asked "Is anyone in the household age 60 or older, blind or disabled?"

Is that saying "60 or older WHO IS blind or disabled" or is it saying "60 or older AND/OR is blind or disabled"

Because I'm considered disabled but I didn't know if I should check yes for that or not, because the wording is just confusing me a little bit

Thanks!

Account problem - who to contact?

Hey there!

I'm currently applying for SNAP. However, I've been having a problem.

It started because I had my name legally changed. And I accidentally opened a second case without realizing / thinking about it

So now, I have a denied case on my account portal where you're supposed to upload documents. The thing is, I supposedly have a pending case that isn't the one on the portal.

I just have No Idea what to do to get the correct case on my portal, so I am able to see it and see if/when it gets approved or denied. And I can't upload documents to it.

I've tried calling so many different people, but nobody seems to know. They either send me to somebody else who also doesn't know, or they tell me it's not possible to remove the denied case and put the correct one on my account

I know the websites would be different per state, but I was wondering if anyone would have any idea? I'm in Kentucky on the Kynect website if that helps

Thanks!!

letter for overpayment

NYC: I just finished my recertification interview this morning and hours later received a e-letter stating they’re investigating an overpayment, but most of the lines were left empty??? It says nothing but when the case was approved. Why? Error?

Also we failed to report an increase in Ss benefits about a year and a half ago mostly because it didn’t exceed the total gross amount to qualify. (In my current recertification I did report the increase by the way!)

I’ve had this case open since 2020 and the increase only changed in Sep. 2022.

Will this be a big issue? Can they just deduct from the monthly benefits and pay it back overtime?
