i dont mind paying for delivery of course, there just isnt a specifically japanese grocery in my town but i like to cook almost exclusively japanese food.
hmart has been a good substitute since they accept ebt, but they dont carry all the things i need. any suggestions? (i live in az)
NY STATE. Has anyone waited this long for recertification?.. sent in my recertification since September and no interviews, calls.. all my savings just sent to groceries and bills over these past 3 months ...
Literally in tears cause I have $3 to my name......
Did anybody else not receive their cash aid deposit today? I was supposed to receive my 3rd and final deposit today but nothing is in my account. Is it just because its Sunday? Im in Orange County
My 22 year old son is awaiting a SSI/disability determination. He currently lives with us but pays room and board via an ABLE account. Does our income count in a SNAP determination if he buys and cooks his own food? We are in Connecticut.
Hi Everyone,
background: I am a college student and live in my own apartment off campus. I work part time, and have received SNAP in past, at only $70 a month (had to reapply bc I forgot to recertify) It was easier for me to eat at school so this wasn’t a problem in the past. However, now I have my bills, car payment, etc and it makes it really difficult to afford groceries.
Issue: Because I work as a server, sometimes we have a special event that will have my tips or paycheck be 3x the normal amount. This is NOT common, it is every once in a while and does not reflect my weekly average pay. However, when I submit this paystub, they dock the amount that I received in monthly SNAP because it looks like I make more than I do. I tried to submit all my other paystubs and they called specifically requesting the stub from the week that it happened.
How do I avoid this? I had qualified for emergency SNAP that was actually an ample amount. How do I make sure my anomaly check does not interfere with my benefits? Thanks.
hello! i just got accepted for food stamps and will be receiving 66$ a month. i used the snap screener that everyone recommends and it was 265$!! we are a family of 3 with a 2 month old baby. we do receive wic. my fiancé makes about 550 a week. 750 rent, gas electric water trash etc. our base rent payment is 700 but with a 50$ cat deposit, on my benefits page is says we only pay 699$ in rent…? it also says he makes 3,409 a month and that simply isn’t true. i’m so confused. if i call them will they review or do i have to submit the “state hearing” request? tia:(
edit: im in ohio
Hi guys, I'm a homeless college student I attend school full time and I work 15 hours a week at a local toy shop. I know you need to work at least 20 hours to receive food stamps as a college student. For the extra 5 hours would babysitting count?
Hello guys!
I was hoping someone could help me understand this, my husband and I are unemployed. I'm very disabled and cannot work and my husband is searching. I decided to go back to college online to try to slowly get a degree.
When I applied for ABD I was denied after hours on the phone because my husbands 440 a week for unemployment was too much.(I have applied for SSDI).
However the agent made me send in a bunch of information on my financial aid with college?
It looks like it was reported as unearned income...because of this our food stamps went down from 511 to 86 then we got three more letter saying they messed up and we were getting 380....but now I check the website and it's changed again to 211 😵💫
My big question is: Do pell grants that go to my college count as income? That's our only change from when we were approved for 511.
As of right now our SNAP for dec has changed 5 times to different amount with only the one change being my application for ABD.
Could anyone give me some insight? I'll definitely call tomorrow but wanted some advice and info!
Oh! I'm in Washington State as well.
Hello! I am in Oregon. I have read through posts and I have seen multiple comments about self-employment but feel confused. I saw something about automatic deductions or that it doesn’t “count” the same as ‘earned income’. Is this true?
I had a pretty big income shift (all self-employed) and reported it on time. This month I assumed my benefits would drop significantly and they are the same (it’s been almost 60 days since I reported it). I am nervous I filled something out wrong because I shouldn’t be receiving the same amount of benefits.
Can someone explain to me how self-employment works for submitting for benefits and how it differs from ‘earn income’? And also is it something that happens on the ‘systems side’? Or am I supposed to report/submit it in a different way?
I do plan to call early this week to talk to someone as well. :-)
Thank you!
I'm so mad because I received my cash assistance today and I went to 7-11 to use the ATM. I called beforehand to confirm I had money available ($144) I walked many miles to the store. When I got there I walked up to the ATM put in my Pin and selected the amount ($140). I waited as it was working then it flashed and printed a receipt insufficient funds only 4 dollars in your account. So even though I never received the cash the money was now gone from my account as if it got transferred or glitched. It's Sunday so I can't call my SSC. Super frustrating as I don't know what to do. Has anybody had something similar to this? Any help would be appreciated. No cash came out and now it disappeared. The 711 has they're phone number turned off which I thought was suspicious. Should I walk back there and try to talk to them? What should I do?
Hello, I recently did my redetermination. It wasn't due until 1130. I got a phone call on 1114 from the worker wanting to do the phone interview. I had just had fraud for the fourth time on my account and I thought it was them calling and I explained to her that I was going to MRI appointment for my daughter and I would prefer to do it online and go into the office just how I've always done & She said well you still have to come up here to do it and I said I understand that that's why I said I wanna do it online and then go up there in person and then she says I'll call you right back at 4 o'clock. Said OK well she called at five and then I decided I'm just gonna go up there. I don't really need to talk to anyone on the phone I prefer going in person. the next day I get a notification that said that I was denied because I didn't do my redetermination even though it wasn't due until the 30th so I immediately went up there after I filled out the information online that's when I saw the notification when I check my notifications afterwards so I go up there And they asked me why I missed my phone interview and I said because I told the lady that I would prefer to come up here and do it in person and this new lady says you should've scheduled an appointment with her right then and there, since when do you schedule appointments to come in person it's always been first come first serve. then she goes and gets that lady that did the phone call she comes over & is sweet as pie. We do everything and I fill out the income verification which I'm self-employed and I ask her. Do you need me to put my information here and have my boss sign it like we Always do and she assured me that that was not necessary and that we did everything there and everything was fine. She was very nice and friendly and I left about an hour later I get a call from her asking me what school my kids go to that kind of odd cause I don't remember ever being asked that question and it's not on the questionnaire that I fill out but it's fine. I don't care no big deal so I tell her the school give her the address we get off the phone think everything's fine, like she assured me Next thing you know on the first 12 am today I get a notice that my determination was denied because I didn't do it and I checked my notifications and there was lo and behold an employer verification form for the self-employed in there from the same day on 1121 when we did the interview in person, she had emailed it to me. I guess I don't know, but I didn't know. I'm supposed to fill this out again since she told me I didn't have to, and she never told me when she called me on the phone so I'm assuming that her boss came back and told her and telling me that for whatever reason maybe she wanted to sabotage me I don't know or maybe she was nervous because she dropped the ball and was scared to tell me, but she didn't and my benefits are supposed to hit tomorrow and I'm a nervous wreck because Today is the first & im praying I do not have to reapply & miss this month. I had fraud AGAIN last month it took most of the month to get it back it's December (Xmas)
So me (M21) and my girlfriend (F18) live together in our apartment and she’s currently pregnant with our first. Money has been pretty tight and she has asked me to try to get on food stamps to help out and I’m just not sure how exactly. My girlfriend doesn’t work, and I work full time 40 hours a week and bring home about 40k a year before taxes. Do I even qualify and if so how do I get it? Thank yall
Edit: forgot to mention I’m in Arkansas
Hey everyone.... I saw a similar post to my situation so i thought i would pose a question
So i am an 80-year-old woman who takes care of a disabled son... my son is 53 years old and has been
deemed disabled since birth. My son qualifies for SSDisability and Food Stamps. MY only income is 600 a month in social security as i am retired. My son's disability check is 1070.00 a month. My son's Ebt allowance is 52.00 a month. We live in the household together just us 2. Like someone else had posted My son has a half-sibling who was born with the same disability, she is 50 years old and lives with her father. Her father is retired and gets 1600 monthly from social security. However, My son's half-sibling is also entitled to EBT Benefits and receives double the amount plus 30.00 than my son receives...
How can i get an explanation as to why my son is receiving so much less than his half-sibling? when the household income and ssdisablity check for his half-sibling is more than our household? We all live in the state of NY Thank You
My card, according to the app, says I have $50 cash. I don’t know why. Also, how do I get it? I tried a cash machine and failed.
Hey Everyone... Just a quick question
I have a son who has been disabled since age 7, he is now 18
As a result of being disabled, he gets a disability check of 1000.00 per month
He is also entitled to food stamps because he lives with me but purchases and cooks his own food
His EBT Allowance is 53.00 per month..
My sister also has a son who is disabled and was born with the same condition as my son, he is also 18
His disability check is 1300.00 per month, However, his EBT allowance is 130.00 per month. We all live in New York. My question ... is there an explanation as to why both boys who are disabled have a discrepancy in their EBT amount? One getting double plus the amount and my son only getting only 53.00 does anyone know what steps i should take or questions i should ask as to why my son is receiving so much less EBT wise, when his cousin is getting a higher amount in his disability check?
Thanks so much
I am in California and have been relying on EBT and cash aid to support me and my daughter. Over the summer I got approved for disability. I was receiving just over $700 a month from my disability and reported that to the county and they kept my benefits the same. Recently disability increased my pay by $300 and when I reported that the county took away my 450 of my food stamps leaving me with $23 and took away $100 of my cash aid. How on earth does $300=$500?
I recently applied last month in November for benefits and was approved by Mi Bridges , im supposed to receive my benefits from November until next year November , I’ve had benefits before and usually every 1st of the month ebt edge notifies me they’ve sent my benefits out and when I’ll receive them , but today I’ve got no notifications is it possible because it’s Sunday maybe they’ll just be sending them out tomorrow ?
So, I started making some money cleaning houses and doing various gigs on Craigslist a few months ago. I am still WAY under my IRT. And I will be showing my bank statements for my SAR7. I am still way under my irt so I don’t see any issue, but I was wondering - is it problematic for me to be doing Craigslist gigs in California without a business license? I didn’t get one because I didn’t actually expect to get any gigs.
I was approved pending documents so I received my card already in November sent in documents and got letter I was approved for dec 1-dec31 and Jan-September but today i did not receive my benefits on the ebt card is it because it’s the weekend so I’ll receive it tomorrow or what ?
Applied in April, was approved in may. I haven’t received anything online or in the mail about my 6 month renewal thing, but I have continued to receive the money each month. It said initially that I was approved until 2026 but I figured I would still need to do the 6 month review. Could anyone explain why this might be happening? Am I going to get screwed because of it?
My SAR was due by yesterday. I had filled it out in the beginning of the month but a few days later got a notice saying my pay stubs were too blurry and I needed to upload them again. I did so on the my compass app and I also emailed them to the assistance office. I didn’t hear anything back so assumed they got them but I still got a notice saying my SAR was incomplete. It still shows snap as active on the app so am I safe to assume it’s fine and I’ll still get my benefit on the 5th? Would snap automatically close or does it have to be done by someone in the office? I really can’t afford not to get them.
Im 23 and i was born disabled, i have been on stamps throughout my adult life ive missd many reviews and have forgotten to adjust my employment information in the past. I actually remembered to update it after i left my last job (i have a upcoming surgery and my body already struggles with jobs so me and my employer agreed leaving the company for at least the time being would be better for everyone) but after i updated my info on my case they halfed the amount of food stamps i get. I don't know if ill even be able to survive on what they are reducing it down to i can't afford to spend any of my SSDI money on food because of all my bills especially medical debit and Rent. I don't understand why they would do that to me i can't survive off of only 100$ in food stamps especially during the holidays and while moving. I can't cook do to my disability hindering my ability to stand for more than a few minutes. Does anyone know why losing my job made them lower my stamps?

I cqnnot find any information on how to apply to recieve it anywhere. I can only find information about how to apply as a business to participate.
I'm 24 weeks pregnant with our first child. I had to quit a job that paid semi-well because it involved working with violent clients who often injured me. It was too risky for the baby. My husband makes $15/hr about 35 hrs a week. I got a job at a daycare but it's part time, physically killing me and I only make $8.50/hr. We are getting behind on major bills. The mortgage has to be late this month. Gas bill was late last month. Our car insurance bounced last month. We are eating only because of a credit card. Applied for food stamps in OH in October. They finally approved us for $23/month. That seems so low. We do have wic and that's also keeping us afloat but we mostly just have too much milk and cereal and some vegetables to live off. We don't get peanut butter or tuna on it. Best we get is eggs.
Just frustrating. 😭😭😭
My family lives in California but I go to an out of state university in Washington. I was wondering if I should apply for a California or Washington EBT card, or if anyone knows where to look for information on that because I was a little bit lost.
I was approved for ebt and will start receiving benefits next month. the issue is i’d like to find a different job. how should i go about this? AL.
I’m in Ohio
I was scheduled for interview 11-14 but when I called in the morning the quota was full for the day. I called again 11-15, waited on hold for 3 hours and had my interview with someone whose kid did nothing but scream in the background the whole time. I uploaded all verification forms that day through email and the benefit portal. 11-18 I got a letter saying I missed my interview and then a letter the same day saying I needed to send in verifications. I called them and the lady said they didn’t get my verifications so I uploaded them AGAIN and emailed them AGAIN. Today I log on to find out I was denied. I’m well under the income. However, it says mine is active but my kids were denied? My kids live with me full time and don’t see their dad, ever. I also got a letter today saying I needed verifications for Medicaid yet my Medicaid isn’t due until 9-25. In our office you can’t go down there and you have to do everything by phone and I’m spending three hours just waiting on the phone to talk to people who usually have kids crying in the background and I can’t hear anything they say. There’s no messages on why this has happened. This was my yearly review.
