Riding an Armstrong foil thanks to my bro! ig: surfonastilt Not too bad for my first day! Can't wait for another sesh next week!
Amazing footage and camera work.
TLDR: Does anyone have any recommendations on a foil setup that could work for both wake foiling and wing foiling? Budget friendly and beginner friendly with room for growth are important.
I'm interested in getting into foiling, with a primary focus on wake foiling. The cost of entry and lack of widespread access to sources for rental or used products makes it pretty difficult to start. Since that's further complicated by only having access to a boat once every month or so, I figured having a foil kit that could also be used for wing foiling or paddle foiling might help justify the cost. I realize a separate type of interchangeable board is likely necessary.
Are there any good foil setups that would work well for this on the lower end of cost?
Extra details in case specifics are needed: My Weight: About 168-176lbs Prior Experience: No foiling exp. Moderate experience in wake surfing/boarding with a pull line (boat wake seems just a bit too small). Foiling interest: Lake usage. For wake foiling, interested in surfing smaller wakes behind a boat, pumping, and hopefully progressing to dock starts. Some ability to carve would be nice, with a larger focus on being able to learn and get up. Wing Foiling - being able to get up and moving.
Thanks for any recommendations or advice!
I bought into the North system with the 1500R for towing behind a small outboard and attempting to kitefoil. If I want to try to learn dockstarting is the SF front wing a good option or is it too small for a 95kg guy? Should I buy one now or wait until North comes out with a pumping dedicated front wing?
Hi! Wing foiler frustrated with lack of wind/spots in Chicago here. Been getting out on my wake foil board behind various boats as much as possible this summer. Looking to build a little more community around this awesome sport, maybe meet some new people with similar interest/obsession with foiling.
It knowing the first thing about foiling except it looks cool. Contemplating getting one and one only foil board, I want to be able to use it to kite when the wind is not quit strong enough for the twin tip AND to pump around on the waves when there is no wind. Is This a realisable dream ? Or is one board just going to to both jobs not so good? I have a feeling they are very single task specific due to the nature of the wing design and mast height and other stuff I am not aware of. Any informed information would be much appreciated.
I'm a 95kg guy planning to buy a north 1500r and either a slingshot alien air or an airush foil skate 142 v1 for kitefoiling. Is there any chance that the 15hp aluminum outboard we have at the cottage wil be able to tow me well enough to let me learn to foil behind the boat first before moving on the kite? Which of those two boards will give me the best chance at making it work?
I'm looking for insight on foil options for dock starts. What is an optimal foil front wing size, aspect, and weight? My understanding is higher aspect gives you better glide and larger surface area has more lift. So would a 1500cm2 wing that's high aspect be the best option for someone dock starting? Or is another size better? Does mast and fusalage weight make a big difference? I got a heavier set-up and my progress dock starting just tanked. I think it's the heavier fusalage and mast that negatively impacted my progress. Any insights would be appreciated!
I (35m, 250 lbs) am looking for a foil board that I can use as well as my 9 year old daughter to foil behind a jet ski on a lake. Does anyone have any options that could work with a range of people sizes and do well with small jet ski wakes?
Looking for one of these ultrashort boards for pumping and wake riding. Any opinions? My newer gear is all Axis but my masts will fit either. Thanks!
Hello. I want make me a foil to surf, and I have a printer 3d. So anyone can recommend me a model to do it?
I'm looking for new toys. Is a hybrid foil board a good idea ? Could it be used with a kite ?
I got excited after watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oawhc6AD3hs

Shredder sled V1 3:1 - with foot strap plugs - but foot straps not included
I have windsurfed in the past - long and short boards. wing foil appeals.
I plan to buy/ use a wing with Super light or Bic Wing . Before upgrading to a foil board.
I want minimal equipment that does it all . There is a Tabou Magic carpet . A hybrid 3:1 with footstraps .
Suggestions ? Comments ?
Thx in advance. David M - near Toronto
Hi there , stupid question here , expecially because I've never tried foiling before, but I'm curious and I might start soon. Regards the start , instead of catching a wave and popping on the board , which looks really hard to do on a foil board, how about using a board with straps ( like the one for kitesurfing) and starting to pump under the water standing on the board submerged under your feet ? Would it not work?
Hey All, I made a quick and dirty hand shaped foil last year and am looking to make something more efficient for this summer. Does anyone have any input on foil profiles that might work for low speed high lift foils?
Wakeboarding all my life, no problem at all. Now im doing the same thing with a skimboard, not alot tricking and that kind of stuff but I get up for the most part on my First try and I can ride inside and outside the boats wave (dont know the proper term)
The transition to a foilboard, is it difficult?
