This song has meant a whole lot to me from the moment I heard it for personal reasons and I felt it was only fair to commemorate it.
This song guys. I am so excited for Foals' future and Yannis' future in general, this is sublime isn't it?
An artist who's been in my DNA since their (for me) life changing set at Latitude 2013 still manages to blow me away
I’ve always generally liked the album, but I recently got it on CD and it’s such a fun listen!!
For me, it’s “in the dead white mist of the cooooool hourrrr” from Under the Radar 😅 I can never get it out of my head once I listen to it.

Not actually clickbait.
I was watching the play 'The other place' yesterday at the National Theatre because Yannis composed the soundtrack for the production. The director and playwrite Alexander Zeldin happened to sit in front of me so I complimented him on his choice of composer. Turns out they've known each other since their teenages years. He told me there was an Easter egg in the play which was new music from FOALS.
During the show, a character puts on music and shuffles through some tracks (one of them being the runner) before settling on a song with Yannis singing over some piano. It wasn't being played too loud, but definitely sounded broody, and the kind of song I could see being 6minites, paired with some epic guitars as it reaches a cruscendo. Anyway, not that this officially confirms anything but it seems to me new FOALS music is in the pipeline, with some songs potentially already finished.
A good play as well, worth seeing if you can.
I can write a book of all my favorite Foals lyrics and it got me curious if it was all Yannis or if the guys have any input on them as well. I swear I read in an AMA that Jack said that the songwriting was all Yannis, but I cannot seem to find it for some odd reason...
I saw the guys play Olympia a month or so before Life Is Yours came out and at the time they had some hats for sale, black with a colored stripe on the front and FOALS written on its side. Since then I lost it and haven't been able to find it anywhere else (I've attached a personal photo, since there doesn't seem to exist any proof online that it has even existed).
I was wondering if anyone else got it and was even remotely interested in selling it to me, I've been on the hunt for over a year and nothing even similar has popped up.
I'm going through a very difficult time and I just recently got into Holy Fire (I know, I'm VERY late to the party).
It's because I first became a fan when I heard Into The Surf so I was listening to a lot of middle stuff, orbiting around that era and my favorite album was What Went Down for a long time.
Anyway! I just put on Holy Fire last week and it has immediately become my anthem!! Just, every song gets me and makes me feel things, especially Late Night and Milk & Black Spiders.
And every time I get to Moon at the end, it makes me cry because it's like a release of all the stress I'm feeling and it helps me process what's going on. I also love how Moon starts with that little screech (for lack of a better word) and it reminds me of the K-Pax soundtrack, so deep and thoughtful.
I was gutted with LIYs as an album. Didn't resonate with me at all, barely liked anything on it.
To me Yannis and the Yaw EP is not only significantly better than LIYs but I'd argue it's a more Foals sounding album too.
Thoughts?
Great gig!
Had an epic night watching a fantstic show by Yannis And The Yaw at Koko, and look who we spotted enjoying it along with us!
Broken ankle. Open to offers
Going solo tonight as I’ve just moved to London so wondering if there’s any social stuff I could join before the gig?
Friend pulled out last minute, have one spare ticket if anyone wants it for face value ~£30
If so, how was it?
Did they play all 5 songs and do some extra jamming or anything like that?
(I'm seeing them in London on Friday)
I'm 17 but I found them when I was 12 I remember I was playing Fortnite and I was listening to some music and I got an ad for exits and I loved the chorus on the ad and I couldn't kept singing it so I went to YouTube to search for it and I loved the band and the song
When Foals inevitably return (hopefully next year), where do you want to see their sound go.
Personally, Life is Yours’ sound was fun but maybe not Foals’ best sound. Imo a return to the feel of What Went Down or the Everything Not Saved would be ideal, those albums rocked.
Does anyone else think that the Life is Yours UK tour was very lacklustre, even to the point where it basically wasn’t a tour?
They did intimate shows across the UK, some festivals and big shows for overseas after the album was released but no arenas or venues, just think it’s a bit odd.
I was at one of the Olympia shows about a month before Life is Yours came out but they of course only did singles, as the album wasn’t out yet.
Would love to be corrected if I’m wrong though. Just really want to see songs like Flutter and Crest of the Wave live.
I admit the song might be better if the lyrics to be mixed more forefront.
But theres something about the dark gritty atmosphere it creates.
It sets the scene for how they changed their sound after total life forever.
I like to listen to it before a night out, it gets me in the headset everytime!
Foals forever 💜
Mine is that My Number, while it’s way too overrated, is absolutely song that keeps other Foals tracks off the live setlist.
I don’t know if this is still a thing but a while back people were sad that My Number was cursed to be on the permanent setlist keeping other tracks out because it is so popular but I actually it sounds great live and I wouldn’t have a show without it, even if it’s really REALLY overrated.
What are your Foals hot takes?
