So, for the last several months I've been going crazy with Flux not working while I'm playing games on Windows 11. I finally stumbled across the solution (at least for me) while messing with video settings for a game.
For me, the solution is to disable Auto HDR within Windows 11. It seems like Auto HDR just overrides any other modifications to display colors, which just completely negates Flux. If you don't want to turn Auto HDR off altogether, you can disable it per game as well.
Just search for Auto HDR or Graphics Settings in Windows search. That should bring up a list of all of your apps / games, then you can go into the options for the game you want, and select "Don't use Auto HDR".
Boom. Done. Flux should be working now.
I know there are a ton of other reasons for Flux not to work, but for me, this completely solved the issue entirely. Hope it helps for others.
Edit: This was not a flux bug at all; it's 100% user error so I'm only including the post in case anyone has similar symptoms.
A separate light controlling program called "lightbulb" was running. The reason I didn't expect it is I hadn't restarted my computer in an extremely long time. Hence I had forgotten that I'd had the other program (which I'd decided not to use) still set to run during restart.
Original info below.
I restarted my computer after weeks of not restarting. Now every time I alt-tab or change windows/programs, flux will change the color temperature and/or brightness abruptly to more blue/bright and then change it back to normal after about 4 seconds.
Anyone know why this is the case? I currently have flux uninstalled and my monitor looks normal, however every time I download flux the whites on my monitor get too bright. My monitor is an Acer XFA240 144hz; GPU is RTX 2070 Super. Thanks!
I'd like Flux to have more than three 'time zones' per day. Ideally, five; mid-morning to dusk, dusk to bedtime, bedtime to pre-dawn, and pre-dawn to mid-morning. Is there any way to do this kind of configuration with Flux, or with a similar (Windows) app?
I don't see this in the options anywhere, I would like to not have a bright searing white box that takes up a good 10% of my screen in the lower right hand corner that I now am forced to close with my mouse (it's why I use hotkeys and have F.lux assigned to one)
How can I just use F.lux without the pop-up?
Windows 10,1703
Flux decided 1:55 on a Saturday morning while I had a fullscreen app open was a perfect time to alert me about it having an update available. It popped up as I was mid-firefight and minimized the game. Thanks for that.
I'm gonna have to check out Windows' built-in version of Flux after this. Flux has no respect for standard Windows procedures, no respect for its users by allowing them to disable the popups, and pays no mind to what you might be doing at the time it wants to pop something up.
Is there any good research done on how blue light effects health? I would love to learn more about the subject.
It's been down for a while...
How does it modify the screen colors, does it create a color layer above the desktop, or does it do something more complicated with the color profiles?
I use my computer for design work, so I need it to have the right colors when flux isnt active.
Looking for a automatic dimmer lamp, which SHOCKINGLY amazon doesn't actually seem to hold.
Flux has helped me a lot from headaches from staring at the screen and insomnia after I decided to set my flux setting at 1900k at all times. Do you guys think this is a bad idea? I have noticed positive changes only so far but can it have bad effects in the long run?
I'm fine with a smoother curve towards sleep. But when i wake up i want the full blue screen - not transition slowly over several hours.
So, I have F.lux attached to my Phillips Hue lights and that is still working fine, but my computer screen is no longer changing at all. Even setting the color for red does nothing but change my Phillip's Hue lights.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I can normally affect flux using shift-alt-page-up and page-down, but I would like to disable all the automatic color adjustment and instead simply use my keyboard shortcuts exclusively. Does anyone know how I might do this?
Anyone know how or why this is happening, and how I can turn it off? It hasn't been an issue since 2015 but for some reason it just started opening during startup, and I can't figure out how it's doing that since its startup is disabled in msconfig.
Win 10, multiple restarts since I changed the setting but every time I open a full screen game my eyes are scorched.
My circadian clock is weird, my mind either wants to fall asleep at 6PM or 6AM. So if I am used to 6PM and there is a party I have to attend, goodbye sleeping at night. Because of my task schedule I stick to 6AM falling asleep for a week or two, because I absolutely can't fall asleep earlier, can only fall asleep later, like 9AM, then Noon, then 4PM and back to 6PM.
So, during those days I still don't sleep all night, should I disable flux?
I noticed my icc profiles for my monitors get reset when flux is running... anyone know how to fix this?
I've been archiving music for the last few days and have noticed that scans made while F.lux is active are being saved with the altered colours. Example:

Here's one done in the afternoon:

Is this a known issue? Any way to stop F.lux interfering apart from disabling it every time I bring VueScan into focus? (ugh)
If I'm recording game clips at night when f.lux is on, will it show in the clips?

As anyone tested the effect of f.lux on the blue light our eyes receive ?
fl.ux goes straight from day brightness to night then to sunset setting. Could someone explain whats going on with this?
I work very early so I have the wake up time get at 3am if this makes a difference.
When i'm playing games, i want normal colors, but when i alttab back to my browser, i want f.lux to be in full effect. The "Medium" transition speed works really well for me when i go back to my game, making the transition smooth and pleasing, but when making the transition back to my browser, my desktop blinds me before it's done going dark again.
Is it possible to make it so that f.lux restores normal display colors at the "medium" speed when i open a game, but instantly darkens my screen when i tab back to my desktop?
