Anyone been experiencing sleepiness throughout the day even weeks after getting over the flu? I'm on week four and still feel like I can sleep all day. Just wondering how many others are experiencing this
Not sure why people really hock the stuff up. It’s better to swallow and let the digestive system do its work to degrade the sputum. That’s how the anatomy is supposed to work. Don’t spit unless there is so much phlegm that you can’t breathe.
Spitting dehydrates you. Hocking it up can really irritate the throat. And plus, it’s just plain gross.
Best way is to swallow and wash it down with a glass of water. Really makes you feel so much better.
OK this is half a rant, half a question. I have had two colds this year (it's only April). The first one I got from the woman who sits opposite me at work and the second one I got from the woman who sits beside me at work. I understand you can spread a cold even when your being careful but what bothers me is they blow their nose at their desk and use hand sanitiser instead of going to the toilets to blow their nose and using soap and water like I do. We share a lot of paperwork, so what they touch I have to touch. While I may be up and down to the toilets a lot during the day to blow my nose when I have a cold, I'm only gone 1 minute at a time. I have never given my colds to anyone else at work. I would rather everyone did this to help avoid spreading their cold. What do you do/think?
So yesterday I felt fine in the morning and then by my lunch break I had chills and body aches as well as a headache. When I got home, I had a fever of 100. The highest it was 100.5. Today my temp stayed below 100. Just a few mins ago it was 99.7. I still have slight body aches and a headache. No other symptoms.
hello, so these past few days ive had the cold. i went to the hospital two days ago because i was referred. i did blood tests and a chest xray and everything came back normal.
fast forward to this morning, i woke up and coughed (usual) and when i spat my phlegm out, there was like blood on it which surprised me😭 it wasnt a HUGE amount of blood but it was just a few strings of it ig? definitely worried because its my first time ever encountering this?? i dont wanna waste my dads money again to the hospital bc the bills are super expensive 😭
has anyone experienced this before? also i dont smoke vape or whatever
I can't express how much this cough has troubled me. I literally haven't slept in like 3 days im not entirely sure what it is either coz my parents think I'm faking it PLEASE HELPP!!!
I’m really fortunate that I did get a flu shot last year and when I came down with Flu A 3 weeks ago I was able to start Tamiflu right away. But I have lingering symptoms. A dry cough, nausea, difficulty keeping food down, night sweats and sudden sweating bouts that include feeling warm, like feverish but I haven’t tried checking my temperature.
Anyone else have these?
I have, what I think, is the flu. I haven't gone to the docs yet cause I'm not sure if I need to. Basically, I had 7 straight days of getting mild fevers in the evening and chills. I have had crazy night sweats, sometimes I'll sweat randomly during the day. Right now I have a massive headache in the back of my head.
However, I've had no runny nose, no sore throat. I think i might have had a slight dry cough for a day or two. So that has me questioning whether it could be the flu or not. I haven't been this sick in a long time and I've taken several COVID tests at this point. The fevers seem to have stopped and last night I didn't have night sweats. Today has been just a horrible headache. So I'm undecided whether I should see a doc or not.
I was wondering if anybody has had a similar experience. I got sick on March 14th, the first days of a cold are not great but I've never been bedridden for longer than a day. This time, I was in bed for 3 whole days. No energy, the worst sore throat I've ever experienced, red eyes which later my doctor said was a type of viral conjunctivitis with greenish discharge, my joints hurt, a lot of productive cough, fatigue, fever, the whole nine yards. Some of these symptoms would go away and then others would start. Since the end of March the only thing I have lingering is a very annoying cough and that won't go away at all. My doctor just said to wait it out taking what I was already taking which was basically cough syrup and ibuprofen. The cough won't go away though, and I should mention, my mother and my brother who live in different countries got sick with the same symptoms as me but my mother for example still had the cough 4 months later and still has it, except now she's sick again just like when the flu started. My brother has had a cough for over 2 months now. I've talked to other people who have told me they are now experiencing longer and longer flu/colds. Me and my family members haven't seen each other or anything so is this the new normal cold or is this a Spain thing? This is weird.
X rays, CT scans normal. Please help, it hurts to move. Its so bad. High dose of prednisone cured it for a week and it returned.
Ugh. This is horrible. Woke up Monday (March 8) with a sore throat. Didn’t think much of it. Later on Monday my body started aching and had a fever of 100. Woke up Tuesday morning throwing up. Wednesday I woke up with a fever of 101.7, went to urgent care and they gave me a flu test. I tested for Flu type B… it’s brutal. I’ve been throwing up on and off but thankfully the last time I threw up was Wednesday. I’m so achy and sleeping most of the day. I’m just taking over the counter meds and Advil PM to sleep. My temperature is now around 99.9 so I hope the worst is over. I’m also pretty dizzy and have NO appetite. It also now hurts to cough. I just needed to vent…
My son's preschool got hit hard with the flu so since Monday he has been very sluggish, I have let him sleep and no lie he has been sleeping almost 48 hrs, is this normal?
19 yo f, was diagnosed with the flu on Monday, symptoms started Saturday. My groin and ribs hurt from coughing so bad it’s insane. However I noticed my cough turn more productive, the rattle in my chest is getting worse and I can hear it when I breathe in and out. I’m wondering if this possibly has progressed to an upper respiratory infection, do I go back to urgent care tomorrow?
The last couple days I’ve just been bedridden and unable to enjoy anything really. It’s really bad. But makes me want to appreciate when I feel healthy and normal. I was also thinking how much it would suck to be homeless and in the wet and cold and going through this or something like that .
Everything I’ve tried to eat tastes like water. I tried having some soup earlier today and I had a reaction and started sweating and almost passed out. This is the first time I’ve lost taste with the flu
Thats all im gonna aay. It somehow works for me and for 30 seconds my nose is complely back to n normal. Dunno if I am broken but for me or works.
Jw if it’s helped the fatigue at all during the recovery period
Flu A is killing me! Joint pain, neck pain, chest congestion/cough, sore throat, stuffy to runny nose off and on, my eyeballs hurt - and fever is about 101.
I’m on day 3. I have no idea how I’m going to parent today. My 3 year old has it as well but is coming through well.
What meds helped you get through it? What suggestions do you have? This is HORRIBLE ☠️
My nose and head and fatigue is mostly killing me
I have been tested positive for influenza today and i am super scared after seeing the side effects of tamiflu. I took it 2 hours ago, and 30 mins ago i started having breathing problems and burning hand sensations I started panicking and shivering I still feel weird
But before that i had googled the side effects. Is my mind playing a trick?
So my wife tested positive for flu A two days ago and now I had to leave work (firefighter) as I was coughing so hard it gave me a nasty headache… on my way home I felt just funny, off, almost euphoric. Now I’m achy and coughing like crazy- I’m super scared this is going to progress to critical Illness. I do have anxiety but, I would love to chat about other peoples experiences. I must say this feels worse than COVID.
I started to get symptoms on the 29th and it didn’t really hit until the 31st. I felt fine enough to go to work the 4th but still felt sweaty, had a cough, and a sore throat. I have noticed my heart rate is still a little elevated. Is that normal after sickness for a while?
I recently got the flu and man it’s been worse than COVID. Starting to see progress and improvement though. It’s a really weird virus. I got tonsillitis (which I initially thought was strep throat, but my doctor tested me and it was negative.) And then I’m also suffering from conjunctivitis. I had red inflamed eyes with this weird eye mucus coming out of it. Anyone else experience these 2 symptoms too? I also had the common flu symptoms, cough, fever, sore throat, body aches, chills, nausea, fatigue, weakness, brain fog, etc.
I have the flu and I've been coughing so much I think I have bruised on my stomach it hurts to cough and touch the spots or even like move around too much there's no like visible color but the pain feels the exact same as a bruise 😭😭 has this happened to anyone else??
Just sending out some good vibes for ya'll that are struggling through 2024 flu. Been 8 days and I'm finally back to feeling myself. Haven't been that sick ever I don't think, but hang in there and eat up the ibuprofen and drink all the fluids, godspeed!
Hello All,
From the 22nd March to April 1st, I had really intense flu.
Constant headaches, blocked nose, sore muscles, just exhausted and shattered.
Then from April 1st to today, I came out of it, became able to work again, go out, see friends and do sports.
But today, I’ve woken up absolutely shattered. Unable to even watch TV. Coffee / shower isn’t giving me the usual buzz of energy and I feel insanely lethargic. Unmotivated to do anything.
Is it possible this is still the flu? I just feel like I’ve woken up with 30% energy and can’t reach my usual energetic self at all.
Could this still be the flu lingering within me ?
Thank you!
Flu? Covid? Who knows. All I know is it feels like someone shoved cayenne pepper up my nose and washed it away with some chlorine water and I can't smell or taste a thing. Constant burning. And the burning travels when I lay down, down my throat and behind my ear like acid. Can't sleep because of it or have to sleep sitting up. A usual sinus infection for me is tons of head pressure and congestion and full ear feeling so I'm not sure if this is that. I can breathe pretty freely but can't smell or taste. I've been taking Zyrtec D every 12 hours to help keep any fluid build up moving. Ive also done Flonase and occasional netti pot. I also always get a fever when I'm really sick and never did this time around. But my god, the burning. Anyone else?
I’ve been stuck in bed for 3 full weeks with this flu and still feeling absolutely awful, the fatigue is extreme and hasn’t gotten any better so I’m assuming it’ll be a few more weeks. I can’t move and im so isolated and depressed laying in bed all day. It sucks so much seeing all my friends going out together having fun and worrying I’ll lose friends since I’ve been so MIA while I’m stuck in bed for sooo long. I’ve also been seeing a guy recently and im so worried he’s gonna forget about me and it’ll fizzle out since A month is along time to go without hanging :( humans are not meant to spend so much time alone and this is just so miserable.
