Closing tabs on synced devices

I'm not sure when exactly, but Firefox recently added an ability to close tabs on synchronized devices like, for example, on Safari.

Are there any plans to support this in Floorp as well? As far as I can tell, this is not possible at the moment. Yet, this is a very useful feature for someone who has multiple devices and many open tabs.

Video resolution

Hi, I just installed floorp, I want to give it a shot although I'm happy using Firefox. I noted that floorp struggles with live video particularly in twitch, it keeps playing the video in low resolution and buffering.

I noticed YouTube playing on lower quality even if I select to lay the video in HD. Has anyone noticed this and know if there's a way to solve it?

Can the space between tabs in vertical mode be reduced so you could cram more tabs into view?

In Sidebery you can go to the options and choose ''compact'' and the tabs get more compact and close together, like there's less empty space separating them and there can be more tabs into view. On Floorp native implementation the empty space between tabs is excessive imo, and I don't see any option to reduce it. Can it be done via custom CSS maybe?

Any update on Floorp v12 release progress?

Hi,

I came across a post while searching for "v12" in this subreddit. If I’m not mistaken, it was posted around 4 months ago by the head developer, stating that v12 would be released two months from that post's date. Did I interpret that incorrectly, or has there been a delay?

Are there any updates on v12? I’m eager to switch from Vivaldi to Floorp, but the current ESR base is the only thing holding me back, as I’m not personally a fan of it.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Links do not open from web panels

I have added facebook messenger, whatsapp and few other messengers on the web panel.

Unfortunately, I can't open any link from the web panel messengers. When I click on the web link, it opens new tab with the link url in the url bar, but tab remains empty, and i can't load any other site on this tab also, so tab does not work properly.

This happens both in Windows 11 and MacOS Sonoma, Flurp version 11.21.0

Does anyone have the same issue?

Is there a way to keep vertical tab collapsed on all times ?

Hello,

Wanted a Firefox based browser with vertical tabs. Firefox native vertical tab implementation leaves a lot to desire for so tried the latest version of the Floorp.

While everything works as intended, I don't like the idea of having the vertical tab expanding (from a collapsed state) every time I hover on it. Is there a way to keep it collapsed at all times even when hovering or utilizing one of the buttons on the vertical tabs bar? Maybe through userChrome.CSS ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I really like that there is option to choose tabs to be below the address bar and toolbar. I hope they don't remove it in the future.

What are your thoughts on Zen Browser becoming a lot more popular than Floorp?

Right now is the best period of time yet for Firefox-based browser, especially when most alternative browsers are Chrome-based.

While there are a bunch of forks like Librewolf and Palemoon, they provide features mainly for power users like hardened privacy and tweaked user-prefs. A year ago the only fork I knew of, based on recent stable versions of Firefox and added productivity features on top was Floorp. I was very surprised at the hype and sudden popularity of Zen Browser in the past few months and have been curious why it grew so much faster than Floorp which has been around for much longer, look at the Github star graph below (here's a link to an up to date graph to view long after this post is made). Zen Browser currently has 19.3K stars while Floorp has 6.1K.

Reasons I can think of are the following: heavy promotion of the browser by the devs and community on places like Reddit along with emphasizing its 'zen' philosophy, really fast development (it now has way more features than Floorp), and the Zen mods store, where you can install CSS mods.

What are your thoughts and reasons for Zen Browser becoming so popular so fast? (while its not mainstream, it did grow fast in among Firefox and power users)

"BUG fix" for the floorp windows drawing white/blank

I think i figured out out what caused this (atleast for me)

When i disabled the container extension (and the floorp settings) for containers, all the white-drawn windows stopped for me.

Transparent userchrome Style

Good day, I had to reinstall Floorp on a new machine. I used to have a custom userchrome style that allowed the background color of the window to rended on the tabbar (the tabbar itself had bgcolor:transparent property). I had installed DWMBlurGlass, so on addition, such background color of the window would be set to transparent showing the desktop. https://i.imgur.com/TfLcv3d.png (old pic I found)

I've just installed the new version of floorp on this machine, but playing with the browsertoolbox, I seem unable to find a property to accomplish the previus behavior. IIRC, some settings on about:config had to be turn on (most which I've done) but there might be another settings missing? or some part of the css might have changed its name?. Anyway, do someone knows a way to achive this appearance?

"Looks like you've reinstalled Floorp" message

Im not sure why and i unfortunately dont have screenshots but sometimes when i open up floorp i get a notification at the top of the screen under the address bar that reads "Looks like you've reinstalled Floorp" as if i had reinstalled it or refreshed it or something. Not too sure what to do about it or why it happens.

Bug using containers on sidebar

Didn't find any report about this issue here and it's not listed on the bug report on Github so I'm assuming this is not a common problem.

Nevertheless, I can't use containers on the main window AND the right sidebar at the same time.

Here's the issue: whenever I launch Floorp containers work as expected on the main window until I open a tab inside a container on the right sidebar. Once I do that every new container tab I open on the main window will instantly close.

Has anyone here experienced this too?

Operating System level media player support

Been using Floorp for a while. One nice to have feature that seems to be missing vs Firefox is native MPRIS2 media player support. If I use YT Music on Firefox, I get full integration like the first image (ignore the artist name being clipped).

https://preview.redd.it/xv1h6v6fkk2e1.png?width=317&format=png&auto=webp&s=6280bd744a164ce74fff1ebb7d90be0a29575a27

If I use YT Music on Floorp, I get this, which has functional media buttons, and that's about it (no artist name, art, song length etc:

https://preview.redd.it/3az2hcxikk2e1.png?width=319&format=png&auto=webp&s=1da870464534fbea093857a343409562253994f1

Is there a setting in Floorp to allow this to work? I've tried a few extensions but they've done nothing. Thanks!

Old passwords fail to sync between Firefox and Floorp

I have a bunch of passwords saved in Firefox, and the online Sync is on. However, the passwords are not synced to Floorp.

Weirdly, I just created a new password in Floorp, and it appears in Firefox. When I delete it in Firefox, it also gets deleted in Floorp.

But the old passwords from Firefox are still not synced. Any ideas, what should I try? Thanks in advance...

How do I recover lost tabs and workspaces?

Opening a new window made my all tabs gone.

I use floorp with some workspaces and lots of tabs on each. Once I made a separate window for chatgpt (coz I needed it to move to separate desktop). During the course of work, I closed the main window of floorp before closing the chatgpt window. What did that do? Well, next time I opened floorp, everything is gone except the chatgpt tab. (I select open previous windows and tabs in setting) All my saved tabs and even workspaces are gone.

How do I recover them? If this is normal behaviour, isn't it too easy to lose all your tabs and workspaces?

Clarification regarding monetization policy

Could we get some clarification with regards to what was meant in the roadmap?

"Our initial focus is exploring monetization through the search engine. A subscription service is not currently considered a viable option.

Advertising is also under consideration, but we prioritize a user-friendly experience and will avoid intrusive ads. This will remain a focus for future monetization strategies."

what is meant by monetization through search engine? and also regarding advertising if there could be some elaboration on that

tysm love to the team

Keeping the side bar web panel open between browser sessions?

My specific use case is that I have added a web page to the side bar web panel to an online to do list with the idea that I can keep the to do list in sight and frequently refer to it throughout the day.

However, whenever I close and reopen the browser, the web panel remains closed on startup until I click on a website icon even if it was open when I closed the browser.

Is there any way to keep it open between browser sessions or is anyone savvy enough to make a script that automatically opens it up?
