I have both vinyl boxsets, most the records have not been played but kept in a humidity controlled environments amongst another record collection. I also have tons of other random FLips vinyl and a couple 45's. Just trying to get a little extra money for Christmas, but I didn't really want to list these on eBay for someone to re-sell later. I was hoping to find a fan on this sub who might be interested in buying one or both of them. Shoot me a PM if you would like to see pictures and talk about pricing. Thanks everyone!
I have only been Zaireeka'd once, but it was when I "worked" at the student radio station. The general manager and sound engineer setup four rigs so we could play tapes in the studio with balloons and a disco ball. Glorious.
What was your experience?
Found this at a Record Show yesterday... my holy grail. The VMP pressing of my favorite album from the Lips.

Anyone else got any burning questions out there they've always been curious about? I've always wanted to know if they really mixed (and supposedly leaked) a 5.1 mix of Embryonic
Found this framed concert memorabilia at a friends thrift store today, was the print part of a limited run during their 2018 tour?
I always preferred Transmissions up to this point, but didn't really vibe with most of the stuff to follow. I did immediately enjoy the cover albums and King's Mouth kinda reignited my love for them.
Well someone posted awhile back about how great American Head is. It got a few plays on long car rides and it was like falling in love for the first time, all over again.
Since, I've been working backwards and have been the most surprised by Oczy Moody. Had a little record shopping spree for my bday and was stoked to find it at a really rad spot in a very unrad town.
Overall, I walked away with some fun picks!
Is there any photos on mark??
I have a project I'm working on and I'm struggling to find or create an image of the robot. I'm trying to find an isolated image of it but I can't find it anywhere. Any help is appreciated!
Does anyone have an audio recording of either of these shows? I was there and would love to listen back
And itโs an original pressing too
At War with the Mystics is one of my all-time favorite albums. I absolutely love the way TFL creates sounds and produces their music, and this along with YBtPR just have so much variety in their sound that I cannot get enough of. Every single song in both of those albums sounds so purposefully crafted to sound a really specific way and every time I revisit one of these (or soft bulletin and sometimes zaireeka) I get a strong urge to get really into all their music.
My only problem is that I think I'm looking for the song-to-song variety of these earlier albums and at least a handful of easy to get into songs with those trademark profound lyrics about simple little things. When I go to pretty much anything Embryonic and on, I get hit with what feels like maximally-produced, directionless noise that all blends together and is hard to pick apart or get into.
The thing is I can tell that these are really interesting albums, I've just listened to so much early-mid lips that my expectations override my ability to appreciate them and they just overwhelm me. I get this pretty often actually with eclectic artists--the last couple of Montreal albums have gone straight over my head. I just need an angle to go at these albums from
So I want to ask: What do you get out of your favorite modern lips albums, what kind of place do they take you to, and how do you like to listen to them?
I want to make this kind of an open invitation for people to ramble about their favorite stuff from these eras--this is a really cool band and I always love hearing what people have to say about this kind of music even if in the end I don't wind up getting into it myself.
Would anyone happen to know any songs with a similar vibe to the gash???
It was one of the more difficult album covers Iโve done.
Title, I just got the zoetrope and was disapointed when I heard the Mokran Mix of Race for the prize. Everything else was perfect, just that one song I was hopping would be the original. I prefer the Mokran mix for Buggin bc it tones down all the parts that I really didnt like about the original mix. I was also expecting the mokran mix for Waitin for a super man but was happy that was the original, also love Slow Motion, fantastic song. But Just miss Race for the prize. What records do I need to look for that has the original mix? I tried looking for it myself but couldn't find much. Thank you!
These times call for new Flaming Lips music. Hopefully we don't have to wait much longer, but there have been no signs of new recorded music, sadly.
Anyone have any inside info?? Next year it will be 5 years since American Head. That's too long of a wait!!
made a silly little connections ๐๐https://connections.swellgarfo.com/game/-OB77LYcIk_GN1j4jMI0 hope it's not too hard/too easy ๐ give me ideas for other sections !!! I'll probably make another one ๐คฉ
Clean live recording of "star spangled a-hole"???
Id be happy to do a lot of things for that, right about now funk show brotha.
Does anyone have any insight on how Wayne or Steven get their crazy vocal effects live?? Are they running their mics through a vocal processor or a plugin? I'm trying to recreate some of the effects (ideally the crazy ones off of American Head) for a recording class but cannot for the life of me find out what gear they're using. I've seen them a couple times and it seems like Steven is singing into some weird pop-filtered-mic-contraption. Or is it all just pre-taped and I'm dumb? Please help!
