Curious about china 'rarity'.
I've been looking particularly at Noritake but several other brands as well. There are some quite expensive or declared 'rare' patterns are 1990s or later. On the other hand, patterns in the same time frame or earlier can be less expensive.
How is that determined? Do some have more limited sets than others? Is it related to popularity at time of production? What allows a teapot in one pattern to be priced for 200-300+ while an identical style in a [sometimes slightly] different pattern is priced for much less?
Any insight is appreciated. It's interesting in general but I've also just sort of 'discovered' this is all a thing. Curious/fascinated about all of it. Thank you!

Tracking China pieces?
Does anyone know of a website or app where I can keep track of which pieces of a particular China/silver pattern I have? Just trying to come up with a portable catalog of my pieces (preferably with images) that I can quickly access when I'm out thrifting.
I appreciate any suggestions!!

Help finding replacement for this pattern. My mother broke one of her Aynsley White Crocus-Shaped dinner plates. We can’t find this pattern. We can only find the plane Aynsley white crocus.

Pope Gosser pre-1920... any value?
I inherited this set. It seems to be in good condition. Is this worth anything? I have been able to find very little information online, besides that the stamp was used by the company between 1908-1920. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Where was fine china sold, in the 1910s?
While researching some c1910s Noritake I found, I got to think about where someone might've bought it, back when it was new. Would they have found it when shopping downtown, or through a mail-order catalog? Lord & Taylor? Sears Roebuck? Monkey Wards? I know Larkin carried a lot of Noritake, but I thought that partnership didn't start until the early to mid 1930s. Anyone have any ideas where or who sold Noritake china pre-1930s?

ELI5: Why do some patterns have names and some have numbers?
Hi! New there, so apologies if not allowed. I just got a few pieces of Wedgwood and when trying to find the pattern name, ran into this question. What does it mean for a design to be “X1234”? Does that indicate that it’s a fake or a one-off or something else? When trying to google it I’m running into the older Wedgwood marks that include letters, but I’ve seen listings for the pattern I have and a few others that include the x+ 4 numbers.
FWIW mine is X6688.
