Hi there, I am new to this field, just wondering about the course and future value of this in current job market in Canada. How easy it is to get a job when you graduate out of Fanshawe?
Thank you.
Good day. I’m inquiring to see if anyone knows what type of laptop computer you would need for the electro mechanical engineering program at Fanshawe College? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi folks, I'm the multimedia reporter for Fanshawe Student Union. I'm looking for witnesses who saw the anti-abortion activists at the entrance to the main campus yesterday around 12:30 pm.
Please contact me at g_espinosa-arroquia@FanshaweC.ca because I want to ask some questions and request photos to illustrate the article.
Thank you very much for your collaboration.
I was wondering why the school hasn't sent an official email the possibility of a strike?
I also want to know if when things are resolved if they are going to make an announcement (since they haven't emailed us) I also haven't heard anything from any of my professors. I know there is a strike link from the school, but it has minimal information.
I am feeling quite a bit of stress regarding this.
Hello,
I just want to ask any past/current ECE students if they are enjoying it/enjoyed?
Also, was the program easy and did you get a job right after? If so, was the pay good?
Please let me know!
Hi everyone! I'm curious about how private universities in Canada are perceived by employers, particularly in the field of digital marketing. Do companies tend to favor graduates from public universities instead?
Also, which public universities in Ontario would you recommend for studying digital marketing?
Thanks for your insights!
I'm on the third semester of interactive media design at Fanshawe and i'm not sure if I'm prepared to enter into the workforce with the skills I've been learning, I'm looking to become a web developer/web designer. does anyone have any recommendations for other courses at Fanshawe I could take to build my skills and get ready for the job market?
and are there any recent graduates of interactive media design here? if so how did you feel about the course after you completed it?
Where are the folks from acting program? I'm first semester student on BRT ( Film production) and I would love to get to know you guys.
Hi all, I will be starting an IT-focused program at some point in the future, and I am starting to do some early research into hardware requirements. From what I have seen, most programs would like to see a machine with 16 GB RAM and preferably a dedicated graphics card. Now, for the same price of a laptop with these specs, I could of course purchase a much more powerful desktop machine.
So then my first question would be whether I actually need access to this computing power portably/during classes, or whether I can complete all my work and assignments at home. I do have a laptop for note-taking purposes, but not with the required specs.
My second question would be whether Windows as an OS is a hard requirement. I am aware that Macs and Chromebooks are not supported, but I am curious about whether Linux users have ever run into issues with necessary software/programs for courses not being supported.
Would appreciate any insight, thanks!
edit: Didn't want to clutter the thread by responding to every comment, but thank you all for responses! I hadn't considered the hands-on aspect of the courses I may be taking, and the usage of VMs to satisfy the Windows requirement is quite nifty. I'll give it a try but also genuinely consider buying a Windows laptop depending on the result.
Hello! I'm a high school student looking to apply to the program for September. I was wondering about the co-op. It's not listed on the website or viewbook but I spoke with someone in the program who's in coop. I'm wondering if most students get a coop and if it's explicitly scheduled in the term or an internship you do during classes?
Also should I learn ahead with html & css? I know how to code but not websites.
I live at kestrel and we are having many problems with one roommate. We have filed a report with the ra 3 weeks ago and she said it’s still “under investigation” meaning they have done nothing so far but it was a problem for many of us during midterms and such. Anyone know next steps to get this process moving faster as it makes us all very tense
Hey there,
Does anybody at Fanshawe know of any movers they can recommend for a 1-bedroom apartment? It’s a simple move from the north end of the city to Fleming across from Fanshawe, and all of my furniture minus the core bedroom pieces are going into storage ground level, heated storage over on Adelaide.
The quotes I’m getting from some of these companies are asinine. $1200-$2000 for two guys, a truck, and a couple hours of work.
Hey y'all, just wondering if you'll have the same classmates every term or whether they'll be shuffled letting you meet different people each term. Looking forward to hearing your answer
Does anyone know when January 2025 schedules will be released? I’m in a January intake.
So I have a sensory thing with smells and as of usual there have been some young ladies here and there that probably over spritz themselves and I’m here to say keep doing what you’re doing. Those flowery scents I smell throughout the corridors really make my day and calm me down.
Sometimes I want to approach the culprits and ask what they are using but eeehhh… nah 😭😭
Thank you though!!
I would love some insight on the business marketing specifically online studying
Is there much math?
How hard can it be for someone who haven’t been to school in 6 years?
How is the job market and option for this career/degree
Thank you
Hi everyone, I have come here for help as I feel that I am not getting clear answers when I call the College. I am interested in starting the ONLINE project management program at the College. The issue is that on the website the ONLINE program is part time. So I am assuming its limited to about 3-4 classes part time? My question is is it possible to do more than 4 classes and covert the online program to full time studies due to more classes that I am taking. I do not want to spend 2 years or more in the program. Was wondering if anyone has ever done this?
Hello everyone,
I'm seeking some clarification regarding the College's ONLINE Project Management program. When I've called, I haven't received clear answers, so I'm hoping someone here can help. Based on the website, the ONLINE project management program is listed as PART-TIME, which I assume limits students to around 3-4 classes per term. My question is whether it's possible to take more than 4 classes and switch to full-time studies ONLINE due to the increased course load. I’d like to avoid spending two or more years in the program. Has anyone here successfully done this before?
2ND question- has anyone taken the online project management program at the college? Can you tell me how it went thanks
***As well, I live in a different province hence the reason for the questions
Thank you!
Last Friday (Oct. 18), the Ontario public colleges faculty union (OPSEU) voted in favour of a strike mandate, should bargaining be unsuccessful.
We understand this may be an unfamiliar and concerning situation for many. As such, we have created https://www.fanshawec.ca/strike-updates to share the most up-to-date information regarding the strike vote and how a potential strike could impact students and the current semester.
At this time, classes are continuing as scheduled. An update will be provided if this should change.
I’m taking Business Fundamentals because I want to get into the accounting program I will have gotten a math credit after this term. Someone said I can apply to go into the accounting program in January and use my math credit I earned to get in, instead of waiting till Sept 2025.
I realized after the fact that I could have just taken one math course but it’s too late now. Is this possible?
Anyone in the program who can speak to how much chemistry you need to know prior to starting the pharm tech program? Are there classes that are heavy in chemistry? And if so, do they rely on your previous knowledge from high school or do they teach it fresh? Did you find the program difficult?
I'm currently finishing my final year of high-school and am dead-set on Aviation as my field of work. I am super interested in the avionics programs at Fanshawe, but I am wondering what kind of marks I should have? what's the average mark and acceptance rate of applicants?
Hi there,
My brother is currently in electrical engineering technology 3 year program at Fanshawe college first year.
He is currently taking: MATH- 1188 Math 1 4 ELEC- 1130 DC Electricity 5 COMP- 1471 Programming & Analytical Techniques 3 WRIT- 1039 Reason & Writing 1-Technology 3 SKLS- 1021 Applied Project 1.5 LAWS- 1038 Law, Ethics & Occupational H&S 3
He would like to switch to the Electrical engineering Program in Mohawk college for his 2nd Semester.
Would that be possible?Would he be able to transfer his credits to Mohawk and will they be acknowledged?
I understand he needs to apply for January 2025, but we would just like to make sure that everything will work out and his credits will transfer.
Thank you for your time!
Are there any courses at Fanshawe for domestic students only?
One of my foster daughter’s friends started Fanshawe in September, and she’s struggling with the math courses. I’ve always felt like she had a learning disability, but she grew up in poverty and neglect, and definitely fell through a lot of cracks. So proud she made it to college, but it’s def been a long journey. I’m wondering if they offer psychoeducational testing? From what I’ve read so far, you have to already have an identification to be considered for accommodations. She definitely could use more time on tests. Any info or tips would be awesome!
any incoming students be warned that although fanshawe (and advisors) will tell you (even go as far to promise you) before you get accepted that external credits will be able to be used, they most likely will get denied. this school is a joke and a waste of time and money and going to fanshawe has been one of the biggest mistakes i’ve made. they only care about international students and money, so i would discourage domestic students from applying.
Hi everyone,
I am considering taking the office administration - Health Services program through Fanshawe in September 2025(I would only need the 3rd and 4th semester as I have graduated from the Office Administration program already) and I am looking for opinions on the program and how easy it was for you to find a job in the field after graduation. Did you like or dislike the program? Did it help when you finally landed the job? Do you like the position, do you wish you chose something else? Are you someone who did this program and didn’t like it and switched careers? What are the wages like?Looking for all insight. Looking for insight from those in Ontario, Canada. Thanks!
