Long story short my name on here is Jermaine Jermaine. My name is not Jermaine. That’s the name of my email. And I can’t figure out how to change it on mobile
Hello!
Most of the time the info that appers on "reserch help" is wrong, like the names, but specially the place.
My question is how can i change that if i need a special autorization, cause that information can lead to misleading information.
I’m doing a family tree for a friend who is unrelated to me. Is it possible to begin a second tree on Family Search? Thanks for any help!
Changing names of historical figures. Not sure why or who is behind this but needs to be reported and I am currently on the app on my phone so not sure how to do that.
Hi community! I’m looking for some information to complete my family tree and I believe you may help me. I’ve been reading the blog, and I notice the magnificent volunteer work some of you are doing, it is amazing. Thank you all for this, you are helping so many people!!
I´m from Argentina, and all my great-great-parents or great-parents are from different places from Europe (England, Italy, France & Spain). I´ve been trying to complete my family tree and have some gaps I would like to fill. I’m trying to fill the blanks for my great-great-mother Rebecca Nicholson (or maybe 🤔 is Rebeca since some names were changed in Argentina because of a language barrier). Specifically, I’m looking for any information and documentation (date and place of birth and death, parents, siblings, when she leaves London or any extra data at all).
The information I have (that already is in FamilySearch) is this:
a. 1983: Moron, Buenos Aires, Argentina she gave birth to Carlos Mario Jorge Beluardi (christening in 1984). b. 1895: Teodelina, Santa Fe, Argentina, she appears in a census documentation that states she was British and 30 years old at that moment, the rest of her family are also in the census. c. 1898: San Gregorio, Santa Fe, Argentina she gave birth to Pedro Soilo Beluardi (christening in 1899).
I hope you can help me find some answers or guide me to some places where to look.
Thanks in advance!
I'm Brazilian and my paternal grandfather's ancestors are all Italian, I wanted to continue my family tree, how do I research ancestors who lived in Italy, do you know any sources?
Hello, I found a document, and I need help transcribing/finding a name. I am looking for the surname Mochulsky or Swystun (or variations) on the list. Is anyone able to help?
Hello, I have found that my family members have originated in Toboliv Ukraine, but when I look it up, the village barely exists. Does anyone know anything that would help me in my search for family documents?
Hello,
I have found that my parts of my family came from Toboliv in Western Ukraine after 1850. I want to find birth, baptism, and any other documents I can. I have no clue where to search for Ukrainian documents, and Ancestry.com doesn’t appear to have anything. Does anyone know any resources or websites to help?
In scrolling through a set of about 350 death records, I noticed that 80% are indexed and the remaining are not. I can edit the indexed records to correct data and add people on the image who were not added to the index. For the 20%, I do not see a way to add a new index. There is no add button or anything like that. What steps do I need to take to have access to indexed those records?
Any spanish people here that can translate the baptismal record, Antonio Lopez is my great grandfather , any information on my great granfather and great grandmother on the script?
Hello, I have started looking into my family history, and I am trying to find documents of my family members based on their first and last names. I can find documents for my great grandmother, but I can’t find any documents for her parents. I wonder if this is because they immigrated from another country. Is anyone able to tell me where the surnames Mochusky, Swystun, or Sulatisky originate from? I believe I have Ukrainian roots.
I am also wondering if there are any sites you would recommend to search for their records in Canada, or other countries where these names may come from?
I found a huge branch of my tree on myheritage (500+ people) of which there are no trace/sources on Familysearch. How do I export it from Myheritage and add it all to my tree on familysearch? I tried googling but some sites have old information that doesn't work anymore.
I just spent 2 hours manually clicking on each person on my family tree and it got to be massive. I had it traced back to 1070 on some lineages (e.g., my 28th great grandfather) and hadn't gotten to a lot of the branches yet. My tab froze and reloaded accidentally, and it all disappeared back to just me up through my great grandparents on each side.
Is there a way to auto-build the tree without having to go back and recreate it again? Sometimes when I click on the " ^ " mark to expand to the next generations it'll give me 2 generations, and sometimes only 1. Is there a way to just have it go all the way back in that line until they don't have records?
All of the records are linked, so I'm just looking for the visual. My goal is to see how far back I can go until the records stop and I get the "add mother" and "add father" cards. And is there a way to save the tree so the tab can be closed and returned later?
('m a total newbie and just found the site today. Apologies if this has been asked before, but a quick search didn't turn up anything).
I can’t tell what it says. “days” is my best guess.
I was scrolling up my family tree and I found Adam and Eve, these ones from the Bible. I don't really know where people with just Biblical records started to appear, but, as an atheist, I don't really liked it. You can see that Adam and Eve born like 4000 b.C., according to modern creationism... I think there is nothing that I can do, I know that Jesus existed, but Adam and Eve is already too much for me.
My uncle sent me proof from his Ancestry account that the man listed as my mom's father's father is actually his stepfather. I cannot find that census on Family Search, though. What should I do? There's a whole family linked that I'm not related to.
Edit: Forgot to add that I don't have an Ancestry account.
My second great grandfather was raised by his grandfather. So no father is known. We know his mother and everyone in that line. He was born in 1874 any idea of how to find hints of a real father that far back??
James Matthew Coleman 1874 Amherst,VA -1929 White Sulpher Springs,WV
(Mother, Never married) Susan Coleman 1848ish? Amherst,VA unknown
(Grandfather) Lindsey Preston Coleman 1814 Amherst,VA -Unkown
I cannot seem to find any info on this anywhere...
I started using FamilySearch a while back and then dropped it for many years. Then I got back on at some point and I think I managed to accidentally create a new account at that point (it was also a while ago so I don't remember)...Just this past week I got on again and logged in and noticed that I seem to have a different user account than I had when I first started out years ago and edited entries. I can tell because I can see some of my family entries that were edited with a tag similar to mine but not the same as what I currently have. So I'm confused as to how to figure this out since there doesn't seem to be any info anywhere on how to do this.
I did send a friend request to the other username hoping it would email me and I could actually access that account...but I guess I must have used a different email address? (Weird because I've had the same one for MANY years) and I cannot figure out what to do now.
Also I seem to have lost a whole lot of info, so I'm guessing all of that is on the other account.
Hi! My 4x great grandfather (D. Rufino Victa) is the one underlined red. Does it indicate him being the cabeza de barangay of that place? Just to clarify… thanks!
I hardly ever post in this sub, tho I do take it all in, so I think* I know how to make this right, nor have I even been active much on Reddit at all of late. Eh, life. It’ll get ya sometimes, ya know? Yet, I’m so sorry-I just HAD to tell someone. Or, maybe just feel I’ve told someone bc my hub doesn’t care/chastises me for even having a passion for genealogy and researching on behalf of my 87yo GP’s. And I’m about 2 sec away from msg the person who screwed up my fam tree I’ve worked years on to give her a piece of what’s left of my mind.
So my GGF, well, he was a character. I remember him well. He passed when I was 6/7 in 89, but the stories outlived him. He left my GGM after he’d had a long affair, but faithfully (I think) stayed married to his former mistress who I came to love in later yrs. Even tho I’m only just now divulging the fact I ever had anything to do with them to my GM, or that Dad took me to visit them, or even GGF carried a bottle of Jack in the bib of his overalls. GGF never really knew his mom, she passed when he was young. His dad married 3x. Maybe more. I’ve spent a lot of time correcting the line to my actual GGM, not the step GGM (well, that’s weird) and also not to include any of my GG GF’s wives except my actual GG GM’s-who’s actually a Mayflower descendant and I’ve recently been able to give GM and her siblings a DOB, DOD and a photo-they never had a clue.
I had my line all set. I hardly do it, but something told me to chk the tasks. Some heifer has gone back in and:
I’m not a member of LDS. I def don’t mean to offend anyone and I’m grateful for the access to my fam records, etc. I’ve contributed a lot more to the archives. Ppl who I know weren’t affiliated with LDS in my line, who I know had nothing to do with LDS have been baptized after death. But I can’t help but think it’s got something to do with that since it keeps happening to these particular profiles. That’s not as big of a deal to me really as the messing up MY family tree. Dammit. This person just came in three months ago and whilst I had been focused elsewhere, created an entirely new profile for someone who I’m pretty sure she didn’t know, and she did it all wrong-that’s not his mom or the mother of his kids. Dammit. I’ve tried deleting to no avail. I’ve attempted multiple times to merge and so I guess I’ll email the address one of y’all were kind enough to provide in a previous post.
I’m sorry for the rant. Thanks to anyone who actually reads my rambling post that’s prob not making any sense. I truly appreciate and sincerely apologize. And again no disrespect whatsoever to LDS-I have my beliefs and what I know to be the Truth and I don’t ever go after ppl for what they believe. That’s not what I’m saying. It’s just that’s not my GG GM. Lol.
A few days ago someone deleted an old (early 1300s) father-son relationship link from the FamilySearch tree. The person wrote the following reasoning:
"There is no proof this person was the father of that other person."
Well, this statement is true. As is the case with thousands of other entries on FS, there were no sources attached to either of these medieval men. But that father-son link has been there for decades, ever since the first FS tree went online. Someone, a long time ago, believed that relationship to be correct, for whatever reason, but never documented it. Therefore, "there is no proof this person was the father of that other person", but there is no proof he wasn't.
Personally, I would never delete a pre-existing link solely based on the lack of sources. I would delete it only if I have evidence it is incorrect, otherwise I'll leave it alone, in respect for the person who made it.
So, what is the official FS policy or accepted etiquette on this?
I have merged IDs when I am confident that duplicates have been created. But I have people in n my wife's line that are now tagged as "confidential" because their place of birth is listed as Syria. Now I see duplicate persons and family groups showing up attached to other documents.
I am confident of identity because of family relationships, but merging the new ID into the "confidential" ID will hide the person and result in more duplicates. This confidential status creates a problem where none should be!
Anybody know if it’s possible to access these records?
When I use the view relationship feature, I get this error message. The first few times I used the website it worked fine, and then it started doing this and I cannot figure out why. It was telling me to "try again later" a month ago. Even when searching my direct ancestors it can't figure it out. Sometimes the message just pops up automatically without even processing. Has anyone else had this issue? Did it become a paid thing? This is the best part of the site I'd like to be able to use it. Using on Chrome, laptop computer.
So, my mom was adopted as a baby and I've recently found the names of her parents. I've talked to many people on the maternal side, so I have quite a bit of info about my biological grandmother. My biological grandfather on the other hand, not so much. I just don't understand why I can't find ANYTHING about him. What I do know is this...
His name was David C. Morrison.
His father's name was William, mother unknown.
In addition to my mother, David and his wife (Charlotte) had another little girl, Deborah C. Morrison. She died in 1969 at the age of 2 from meningitis
He lived in Baltimore, Maryland in the years 1967-1969 (probably longer, but I know those years are for sure!)
And that's pretty much it.
I have some names on his side of my family tree and I have thoroughly researched that side of the family. The main last names are Golden and Broadhead. But I have looked and looked and I am just not finding the last name Morrison anywhere!
So is there anyone who might be able to help me. I've been at this for years now and I'm so close, but this guy has me stumped.
What I'd like to know I'm about him is just the basics.
•Full name •Parents name •Where he was born and when •Where he passed away and when (how would be nice too) •If he ever had any more wives and children.
If anyone could help me it would mean so much to me. Thank you.
