Is the recreation center busy or is it pretty slow? I want to start working out and am a bit self conscious right now.
Thanks
Hi, I just had my application accepted into Evergreen State College and decided to try and join the student discord both through the link on this subreddit and the method on the student hub thing on discord itself, and both times it seemed like the verification email they sent to the new student email I was given on office 365 didn't go through. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or is it something I did wrong on my end? Is Evergreen cracking down more on discord participation or something?
Hello, my fellow Greeners. I am an alum who works a regular, menial job but also writes and produces a fiction podcast and has been using local musicians' music underneath dialogue and between segments within each episode. I've uploaded 8 episodes so far and would love to keep using only Olympia-area music. Ideally, the tracks I want don't have vocals; it's not a deal-breaker, but vocals tend to overlap spoken dialogue if played in the background. I don't have much of an audience, so my music budget per episode is $25. I would also be thanking you at the end of the episode and promoting your Bandcamp, SoundCloud, YouTube, etc. Please comment below or message me a link to your music. My podcast is on Spotify here as well as most other podcast platforms—not apple podcasts.
TL;DR You give me music and permission; I give you $25 and shoutout
Edit: I posted this a few days ago in r/Olympia, and the mod deleted my post. Probably a rule against posting "jobs," for which this probably technically qualifies. Hope I don't violate any rules here. I'm trying to support local artists—including myself, let's be clear.
Been trying to remember to post about this. Does anyone remember if there was a little coffee/tea lounge on the first floor of A, immediately to the right if you entered through the front doors? Am I just remembering the study lounge from a time there were a bunch of hippies with coffee in it? I definitely remember coffee in jars, leafy herbs, kombucha and psychedelic clothes. I remember drinking the coffee myself, so I'm pretty sure it was purchased there. Just another heady memory from those days. Anyone else remember?
Anybody know what's happening?
Hi I’m currently a first year Portland Community College student. I am interested in forestry and specifically recreation and resource management. I was originally going to do my transfer degree to OSU, but I am now somewhat considering Evergreen. General question: How is it? I am a student with learning disabilities relating to reading and writing as well as autism. I have all of this documented and written down by professionals so that aspect is not a problem. I’m also very good at advocating for myself about my disability. I had to learn to do that at a young age or I wouldn’t have made it this far. I also have a fully trained service dog (he attended my junior and senior year of high school with me and is currently attending my PCC classes) depending on a couple factors I may or may not bring him. My transfer is 2 to 3 out at this point so things might change by that time with my service dog. but if anyone has any information about that, that be great.
I have a ticket I forgot about and it went up to $55 but nothing has changed after that and it’s pretty old, it’s from August. Does anything happen if you don’t pay it? I’m very poor and it’s out of my budget right now.

I applied on the 5th of September, and they finished reviewing my transcripts on the 12th (or at least that's when it said "application complete" on the portal). When I was talking to one of the school counselors there they said I should hear back no later than two weeks after my application was done being reviewed, but then when I checked the website there were no dates/timelines other than "after your application is reveiwed we will make our acceptance decision". It's almost been a month so I'm slightly worried something went wrong? They couldn't find my transcripts for a good bit but I was reassured they found them and that as soon as it said application complete on the website that means everything has been reveiwed. Also stressing because I have to apply for accommodations but can't until I get in. How long does it usually take to get a response?
If it matters I applied for the fall 2025 quarter
Edit: Called and they said I should hear back some time before the week ends! Will update with results
Final Edit: I got in!!!! Just got my acceptance email a few hours ago
Please send help
I do food delivery, it made me smile seeing the student housing buzzing with life again last night. That campus feels so eerie during the summer.
Im wondering if people do skiing in the winter? And if there's any carpools, shuttles or anything like that.
I live across the street from evergreen and I’m moving at the end of this month I have a black leather couch that I’m giving away. I’m an evergreen student and remember hating the couches when I first moved in. Lmk if you want it :)
When do professors tend to tell students the books they need? I'm sitting here waiting knowing there's roughly a week before classes, and I still haven't seen anything mentioning books. Even the greener book store doesn't have the info for the 2 courses I'm taking.
It was kinda hit or miss last year, my first quarter they posted it like 2 weeks ahead, 2nd quarter didn't even post the syllabus and just told us what book we needed first day.
I can take a guess with 1 of them, but should I just email the professors or wait?
Hello! Posting for my brother who lives in Olympia. He was recently in a hit-and-run, and his insurance is not covering a rental while he is in a 2-4 week repair window. He starts classes at Evergreen next week and lives about 8 miles (15-20 mins) away. The bus is an option, but it is an extra 3 hours of commute, and Ubers/Lyfts are $60 a day. I was just looking to see if anyone would have a similar class schedule (9am start-7pm end) and be able to assist with rides once or twice or have any resources other than the bus as far as transportation. TIA :)
I am graduating this year and looking for colleges in Olympia, I toured Evergreen and enjoyed the campus and surrounding areas, but I am wondering what sort of metalworking and welding opportunities there are. Would I be better suited attending a trade school? Evergreen appeals to me because my current high school is project-based and I've heard that evergreen is similar.
For next year (2025) I see that applications for the fall quarter is now open, but when talking to the councilor a few months ago they said applications open late October-Early November- so are the applications that are open now on the website different thing? Or is next year free to apply for now
Hi! Per the title, I was recently was looking at the year long graphic design cert program. It looks like it’s 90% online and takes a year. Has anyone completed the course & have thoughts on it? Thank you!
Also I have a BFA from another university so this wouldn’t be for a degree, just the cert. I know it kinda doesn’t mean much I guess in the professional world but I’m looking for folks experience with the course itself.
One of the old treehouses was taken down. Are there any more? Do you want to tell me where they are? Dm me, if you tell me I’ll leave you some bunny girl stickers at the treehouse.
Howdy y'all! I am about to finish up my AAS in wildlife management and conservation from a community college in Austin, Texas. I'm interested in moving out to Washington and pursuing higher education at Evergreen due to the flexible structuring of achieving a degree there, as well as the conservation and wildlife classes they have available.
Trying to get in touch with an advisor hasn't been the easiest, which is discouraging. Does anyone here have experience with the upside-down degree? I'm worried that if that's the route I take I won't actually be able to take the classes that look interesting to me.
Thank you for your help!
Im starting to apply to colleges and I'm considering evergreen, I'm curious what student life is like. How are classes? what Is olympia like as a student? What's an average day like? I hope these questions aren't too much.
To anyone who has gone through the woodworking program. Any advice on how to prep for it from a relative beginner? Books to buy? Any of you have the books you have no use for and wanna get rid of?
Thanks!
It looks like it's been down since Monday. The ATM was disabled by WSECU, not by us. We (IT dept) don't have any control over it.
They emailed indicating that it will likely be offline at least the rest of the week. (07/29 - 08/02). That's all we know. Their website does have an alert about ATMs being offline, so possibly they are having some kind of system issues.
I'm an alumni, took a few classes with her about 10 years ago and was trying to find a way to get in touch with her. It doesn't look like she is teaching anymore though. Does anyone have any current information about her?
