Oopsie, this isn’t Subreddit “Food Porn”Whimsie, it’s English Setter Porn. Best Dogs Ever! I hope you enjoy my sense of humor!
Posting with the hope that we can find some resources for our beloved setter, Finn. He is a 6 year old healthy Llewellin Setter that needs a new home. He loves the outdoors, going on long walks, and snuggling up at night. After 5 wonderful years with us, we welcomed a new baby 10 months ago. Unfortunately, Finn’s resource guarding tendencies have escalated to aggressive behavior.
For the past 16 months we have worked with multiple trainers and tried various medications under advisement of our veterinarian. Sadly, we have made the difficult decision to find a new forever home for Finn as the family dynamic has changed such that we need to do what’s best for the safety of our family and baby.
We have reached out to our personal network and various rescue foundations. We are hoping to find Finn a new forever home that can provide a calm environment, space to run and roam, and child-free. He has been a wonderful boy for the past 5 years and we have hope that if a kind soul has the patience and resources to help with his resourcing challenges, he will have many more years of love and companionship to give.
We are in the Chicagoland area and are trying to search for any leads - no matter the location - that we can explore during this sad time for our family.
Thank you for reading this post. We also have a detailed write-up about Finn that we would gladly provide, including medical/vaccine records, his challenges, and his history with our family.
I would be happy to connect with anyone via DM/email if you would like to learn more. Thank you for any support you may be able to provide. <3
We have had Benny for about a month and a half. We have bonded pretty well. We think he is about 9-10 years old. He still loves his walks, but he begins to show tiredness around the three mile mark. We still manage to give him about five miles spread over three walks a day.
They love this trail in any weather, but gosh the snow makes it gorgeous
Walter from a couple winters ago at 5 months or so. Still same energy this winter.
He's 3 years old today and still a big old baby.
Just under three months since we lost our sweet Chase, we are lucky to bring home a setter rescue early next month! We are very excited - he is young (1.5) and has lots of energy which will be great for our active family (I hike every weekend, we walk daily, I have a very lively 5 YO) but a huge change from out ~14 YO senior. This pup is crate trained, potty trained, and working on leash training (which I have some experience with). We are enrolled in a level one obedience class. The foster gave me a heads up that he’s “a bit of a tornado” and will need to baby proof the house…besides securing/hiding exposed cords, keeping toys off of the ground, and clear hazards, what should we be doing? We are making all changes to our house layout now to be sure everything is comfortable for his arrival. Anything should we keep in mind when bringing home a doggo this young? Thank you!!!
