A place to talk about the weird and wild place we call Englewood.

I noticed that my AutoPay did not run this month for my sewer and water bill. I called this morning and they indicated that they moved on from their previous payment vendor, so this apparently broke the AutoPay cycle this month for some customers. It should correct itself in future cycles, but you may need to manually pay your invoice this month.
According to this site, Englewood proper is composed of 40 neighborhoods! The city stretches across only 6.56 sq. miles. In comparison, Denver has 78 official neighborhoods that span over 155 square miles.
Hey everyone! I am putting together a women’s volleyball team at the Englewood Rec center on Wednesday nights during winter and am looking for a few extra players! Please let me know if you’re interested and I can share more info.
Opening a single space for discussion on local issues and candidates. Thanks all.
I dropped my ballot off at the Civic center around 4:30pm yesterday and my status hasn't been updated yet on Ballottrax from "ballot outbound". I'm feeling a little paranoid (not of impropriety, just, what if I did it wrong?) and admittedly don't know the process/timelines. I assumed they would move to the validating signature stage last night. Hoping there's someone else here who dropped off yesterday afternoon and can check to see what their status is. Or someone with more knowledge of how long it should take. Again I'm not passing any judgment on poll workers taking too long or anything I'm just an anxious person! 💕
Saw this on my way home from work. They’re all over Jason Park as well. Thankful I didn’t vote for him. What a terrible look.
If you see this man, use caution. After I refused to buy magazines, he got super rude. He specifically called our my BMW as “me thinking I’m better than him”
Well anyway I now have scratch marks on the hood of my car, because I didn’t want to help him.
I was in my garage working with the door open when he walked up to me.
That's to all that participated. Had the kids putting for a extra handful. It was great to see the neighborhood out in style. Come by next year and try your hand. Let's make Fox Street a don't miss!!!
Walked in there today. Admittedly it's much smaller than the original store and it seems like the primary focus is on comic book sales. There are some vinyl records for sale, too. I was a little disappointed, because the original Mutiny sold a wide range of books that don't appear to be there anymore. There appears to be a "venue" in the basement and I heard they would host things like amateur hip hop shows. There is also a small coffee shop inside, but I didn't try anything.
Anyway, welcome to the neighborhood, Mutiny!

Hi fellow neighbors!
First and foremost, I am not an official organizer, but wanted to share the following for those who may have missed (or not received) an email. Englewood is looking for Snow Buddy volunteers for the upcoming winter season. You will be paired with a Snow Buddy in-need and notified via regular mail once a match is identified.
The commitment would be to shovel the portion of the public sidewalk in front of the designated house, as well as the path leading to the front door, within 24 hours of any snowfall greater than 2 inches, that occurs between November 15, 2024 - April 30, 2025. If you will be travelling during a period that snow is expected, you need only text or call your assigned partner so that they can make alternate arrangements if needed. If there are any conflicting dates that you already know of, you can always mention that in the application as well.
Here's the link to apply if you're interested! The city has received an exceptionally high number of requests this year from residents in need, so I thought this might be a way of helping the organizers find volunteers. TIA!
Someone’s car alarm went off 4 times last night in one of the apartment lots on Pearl St, just south of 285. It has gone off several times in the previous few nights too.
I just moved to the neighborhood, should I call Englewood 311? Englewood PD?
I read through the noise ordinances/public nuisance descriptors but couldn’t find anything about car alarms.
So I was looking at ballot information today and while I don't agree with our local rep, Meg Froelich, on may issues, I was alarmed to see that her challenger, Mickey Neal, put A Christian Manifesto as her favorite book. Using AI and this article from The New Yorker, I learned that this should be a disqualifier from office if you're NOT christian, are female, LGBTQ, don't believe in political violence, or don't want to live according to Bible law. Thought I would make people aware as otherwise she came accross to me as our traditional Republican, but I now think she's more extreme and part of the Christian nationalism movement (maybe even Project 2025). https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/a-christian-manifestos-call-to-arms
The city understands the disappointment by some residents in the tree removal at Rotolo Park. This removal was not done lightly, and homes in the surrounding area and those directly impacted by the tree removal were notified by a mailer, door hanger and even one-on-one conversations with city staff.
As part of the South Englewood Flood Reduction Project, the removal of 14 trees at Rotolo Park was necessary for the long-term safety of Englewood to prevent future flooding during heavy rain events.
The project couldn’t work around the existing trees for a few different reasons:
✔ For the trees on the west bank, an increase in elevation was required to increase stormwater capacity, which would have necessitated burying the trees.
✔ In order to preserve Rotolo Park’s field usage during dry conditions and sledding hill in the north portion of the park, the south bank was selected for the construction of the outlet and trickle channel, which resulted in tree removal.
To compensate for the loss of trees, 15 new trees will be planted in Rotolo Park. Since the beginning of the project, 44 additional trees have been set to be planted around the new detention ponds.

The Englewood Girl Scouts invite everyone to a Halloween party at Skate City in Littleton!

Unclear whether conviction will result in removal from Board.
Hey neighbors! Needless to say, this election cycle involves a wide range of statewide and county/local issues, many of which are highly complex. Come on out to learn more about the details and pros/cons of each proposed measure. Try to arrive early to ensure a good spot!
Western Sky Tap Room
4361 S Broadway (between Quincy and Radcliff)
Just curious if anyone else has had power issues today? Have had a series of small bumps over the past couple hours. Not enough to reset clocks or the router, just lights flickering. Duncan Park area.
Was it really necessary to remove damn near every mature tree at Rotolo Park for the so-called vital drainage improvements? It'll be decades before any replacement trees are of comparable size. And I wonder how much water 10+ mature trees can absorb during a storm? Did that factor into the planning at all? Where will the water go now that there are no living trees to use it?
Website says they anticipate another 5-6 weeks, but I think that's old info which hasn't been updated in a while. Does anyone know if they're getting close to completion on their renovations?
EDIT: Just saw their Facebook update. They were estimating about 4-5 weeks as of October 2, so hopefully 2-3 weeks from now. Can't wait to go back!
Hi Guys, Just sharing our weekly lineup of community led events in case anyone is looking for something fun to do. So far we have trivia, a bottomless wings night, disc golf, a car show and super smash bros adventures in the works. If interested, register via KAYV to hangout with the crew beforehand. Cheers. 🍻
Pinned post for discussion of county issues, including:
(Did I miss any other county issues?)
Pinned post for discussion of the Parks and Recreation Bond.
Pinned post for discussion of the two Englewood Charter ammendments.
(And, I am just seeing that another poster has made a similar thread. Sorry for the duplication.)
Does anyone have insight on Englewood ballot questions 301 and 302? I read the pros and cons for both on the city's website.
I haven't been following these issues. These aren't some muck whipped up by rita Russell or Laurette barrentine, are they?
(Mods, please remove if not allowed. I understand there is a possibility a master election thread may be set up.)
Hey all! Below are links to the webpages for each candidate who is running for RTD District D, which covers Englewood (along with portions of South Denver and Littleton). They both seem strong, but curious to hear about your thoughts on either. What do you see as the most striking similarities or differences, and what are the biggest keys to RTD's future success?
They are no longer at 800 Englewood Pkwy. I wonder if anything is left in that building besides IHOP and Qdoba. The building is going to be torn down in a couple of years, I have heard.
