Hey there! I'm looking for someone to take over my lease from May 1st-September 30th. If you like the place and want to renew the lease in October, you're welcome to it. I love this apartment, but I have to relocate for work. It's a very creative and artistic space.
-One-bedroom apartment close to downtown.
-$1128 rent (510 sq ft)
-Cats welcome! ESA dogs permitted.
-Coin-operated laundry on site.
-warm and supportive building community (I moved here from a different state and this has honestly been so lovely)
-Management is asking that subletters to complete an application.
Let me know if I can answer any questions. Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this! I didn't see any rule against it. I can take down and post somewhere else if there is a better subreddit.
Just got the message about the emergency evacuation of Wise, Buell and Putnam.
Everyone ok?

Was wondering if anyone knew off hand. I’m too cheap to pay for Adobe and the library is on my way home from work. I just don’t want to go out of my way and pay for parking only to find out I can’t use it. Thank you!
I'm coming in as a non-traditional freshman with only credits from high school AP courses. I am enrolled into the Honors College and I was curious how many courses you guys suggest taking per semester 😊 my advisor suggests minimum one but as many as I can, I just don't want to overwork myself.
I want to do this (tried in the past didn’t get selected). If you or anyone u know did this what did they think, and what were some things that helped them get in?
Today I found my advisor's information online and reached out for a task I needed help with. Their response was, "how did you get my information and how do you know who I am?" 🤦♂️
Since the weather’s warming up, I’ve noticed a lot more people on campus who are trying to advertise for stuff. I’ve been approached by two:
While they’re here for a good cause, I feel bad when I can’t donate or buy something. Sometimes I forget my earbuds at home, so I don’t rlly have an option, but to listen.
Are there any tips to avoid solicitors?
I'd love to hear some of your favorite CS electives and maybe why you chose them.
Can't wait to get started! If anyone has taken this or is in the CS program lmk!
Anyone take IA103 with Professor Bari or Munther?
Is there a grad student union on campus similar to U of M's GEO? Would it be worth starting one?
I dont know if its even feasible considering most grad students are in Master's and not PhD programs, and theres only a couple dozen employed as GSA or GSRAs, but I feel like there are plenty of issues (parking, lack of healthcare for workers, free bus passes among others) worth representing. I know GEO also helps support issues for undergrads and lecturers as well so maybe theres a broader base of problems that could be addressed.
Alternatively: would a general student workers union be useful?
Hi.
I volunteer for a non-profit that organizes free, grief/bereavement support camps for children, age 7 - 17, who lost a parent, sibling, care taker, or other loved one/family member.
It's called Comfort Zone Camp. They are based in Virginia, and they have camps throughout the country and throughout the year.
The co-founder is originally from Michigan, and later this year, September 20 - 27, they will have their first Michigan camp in partnership with Herbert Adelman Foundation.
Here's a news article:
More info about Comfort Zone Camp:
https://comfortzonecamp.org/volunteers
https://comfortzonecamp.org/calendar
Feel free to check their social media @comfortzonecamp (IG, FB, etc.).
Here's an article from TIME Magazine -
https://time.com/6286420/suicide-bereavement-camps-kids
Most of their camps are open to kids who suffered a loss of a loved one from any form of death / passing -- but their Michigan camp in September is focused on suicide loss.
If anyone knows a child who lost a family member (or friend) to suicide or if you know anyone interested in volunteering -- please feel free to share this.
The camp location is north of Detroit and east of Lansing.
The camps starts on Friday afternoon and continues until Sunday afternoon. Volunteers are expected to stay for the entire duration.
So yeah, it's a time commitment -- and many people are busy...but for those who are able to attend -- it's truly a special and worthwhile experience (for both the adult volunteers and especially the children).
The following videos are old, but show what the camp is about -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLF7KWgfwfg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7JNYy07osI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dbk2Pigfb_U
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLwYyfpwfHU
Regarding the camping aspect...this is not tent camping.
Think of it like a summer camp where school children go and stay in cabins...so they usually use established/developed venues.
Cabins with bunk beds, restrooms with flush toilets, sinks with running water, showers, a dining room where the kitchen staff prepares meals, etc.
Volunteers typically bring their own sleeping bag, pillow, blanket, etc...but there's no need to bring other camping equipment/gear (e.g. tent, air mattress/mad/pad, stove, etc.).
If anyone is new and interested in helping, they require attending an orientation and passing a criminal background check. Children's safety is important, and multiple adult volunteers and staff will be present (in other words, no child is ever alone with an adult).
To attend their online training meeting, click the aforementioned website above to sign up (click "Register to Volunteer" button) and they should provide a zoom meeting link.
Some volunteers are young adults (college students, recent graduates, etc.) and some are middle age to older adults too. Kids tend to like volunteers who are friendly, fun, positive, silly, etc.
Many people are busy, and committing an entire weekend is challenging, but maybe someone out there is good with kids, can be a positive role model (like a big brother/big sister), and is interested in helping some kids deal with grief and loss.
They sometimes are low on male volunteers -- so if you know of any exceptional men out there -- please feel free to help spread the word.
If anyone is serious or curious about learning more, check out their website and videos.
If interested in helping, follow their instructions on how to sign up at https://comfortzonecamp.org/volunteers
Attend the new volunteer training.
Pass a criminal background check.
And have a fun time during camp. It's a life-changing experience for both kids and adults imo.
p.s.
If anyone knows a parent with a child(ren) who has experienced loss, please feel free to share with them about this camp (again, it's free to attend), and it can be very beneficial for kids to not feel alone in coping with their sadness, pain, grief, etc.
FAQ
I don't speak on behalf of Comfort Zone Camp, and can't give any official answers, but sometimes people ask common questions, so these are my opinions on how to answer such questions -
Q: Is there a cost to attend?
A: It's free for kids/parents due to generous donations and partnerships.
Q: Can I help for just a day?
A: They usually prefer volunteers stay for the entire weekend, Friday until Sunday.
Q: Does the camp have any religious affiliation / association?
A: No. Some attendees might have personal faith / beliefs, but the camp is open to anyone & everyone. I think of it like public school, where kids come from different & diverse backgrounds.
Q: Do volunteers need to have experienced a personal loss?
A: No. Some volunteers have lost a parent, sibling, grandparent, etc. at a young age, but some volunteers have not. It's not a requirement nor expectation.
If anyone has other questions or wants an official answer to anything, please feel free to reach out to Comfort Zone Camp on their website or social media.
Their email is info@comfortzonecamp.org
Thank you.
Has anyone here lived at Eagle's Nest apartments owned by J & S, and if so, what was your experience?
Hello,
Does anybody know about scholarships that EMU offers for the summer and fall semester? I am currently enrolled in the Technology Management degree program and will be graduating by December, 2024. External scholarship recommendations also welcomed.
Hello! I am currently looking for a subletter to pick up my lease in an apartment in a historic building downtown Ypsilanti. This is a GREAT apartment for grad students. I adore my apartment (favourite place I have EVER lived) but I am having to relocate for work. One of the few old buildings downtown not managed by Beal.
-$1136 rent per month, 510 sq feet
-Coin operated laundry
-Utilities separate through DTE (very reasonable rates)
-Move-in end of April. Lease ends in October.
-MTH management has been nothing but a dream to work with.
Please message for details and photos!!
I am having difficulties choosing which degree I want to go for when I come to EMU. I would appreciate the cold hard and truthful pros and cons of each degree program. Maybe this will make my decision easier :)
If you have had a bad experience with Park EMU, and you have documentation, PLEASE dm me! I am compiling evidence and will be emailing some MLive journalists with an update one year into the lawsuit situation. You can remain anonymous if you’d prefer, but I will be giving my name in the email.
It seems like the only way to make EMU realize that we are sick and tired of the tickets, expensive permits, and parking lot cops is to do something public about it. If you can, please fill out this form sent out by the university to everyone’s emails. You can be as positive or negative as you want, just make sure that you mention your frustration with ParkEMU.
I was visiting McKenny hall for 20 minutes and just got a parking citation from Park EMU for $28. I don’t go to this university and this was my first citation here so I’m wondering if I should even pay it? Will it be sent to collections or will my car get impounded? Was wondering if anyone had any experience with this.

Hi all,
I'm attempting to cover my laptop keyboard with college letter-based logos, and I'm still looking for a suitable E. Here's what my keyboard currently looks like:
I would be EXTREMELY GRATEFUL if anyone on here can help me find/send me/direct me to where I can find an EMU E logo sticker.
Thanks!!
Hey, I was interested and plan on attending EMU pursing Information Technology. So I was wondering for those who have graduated or are current undergrad how is the IT program? Do you feel like the curriculum is updated and preparing you for work in this field? Any pros and cons? Was it hard getting internships or jobs after graduation? I also noticed unlike other stem programs at EMU IT isn’t accredited does anyone know if it will in the future? Or does that not matter.
Hi all, I have just started a student gifting group on Facebook in the vein of buy nothing. Please join us! You will be able to post/ask for things along the lines of textbooks, school supplies, clothes, food, and more. Think of it as a free thrift store for EMU students. Please review the rules before requesting to join!
I was playing my pokemon emerald on the emulator called my By free, this message started to appear when I try to load a save

I live in Flint. We are looking to move, but the housing market is awful. We can't rent, we've been living in our own house for three years and have too many non renter friendly things, such as a lot of pets and plants and furniture. The commute is about an hour in good weather. How long is everyone else's commutes? How has it effected your schooling?

I'm gonna be going into EMU this fall, and while looking at dorms, I couldn't help but notice that Putnam and Downing are the same price but the Downing double dorms look quite a bit bigger, with their own living space and all that. Is there an advantage to Putnam here? I'm not familiar with dorm/campus life, so I'm pretty clueless here. Thank you.
Professors that use this stupid website are just lazy and don’t want to do the work themselves and it’s to a detriment of us students. It’s over priced and the crap website doesn’t work half the time and half the time assignments get missed because they don’t link well. Then actually getting to support takes about 10 minutes of listening to pre made menus that repeat about 5 times.
At least after having to repeat my email to the support guy 5 times it finally got figured out
