Does Emirates have Seat Sales?

Back in 2019, I was able to grab really cheap Dubai RT tickets from Manila (via Cebu Pacific) but ended up not using it due to the hassle of obtaining a tourist visa if you don't have a "sponsor" in UAE.

Now, I am planning to do a week-long vacation in Dubai next year 2025. I would like to fly with Emirates so they could process my tourist visa already. Currently the cheapest RT fare I am seeing is around PHP35k+ or USD600+. So wondering if they also hold some kind of sale and if the rate could still go lower?

Upgrade to business on one leg only?

Hello, I will be travelling to Melbourne from Europe during the Christmas period. I am interested in only upgrading the long flight of the itinerary (i.e. the one departing from DXB and arriving in Melbourne). I currently have 0 Skywards points, so I'm interested in upgrading using cash.

Via the website, I am only given the option to upgrade both flights of the itinerary together. I assume that I might be given the option to only upgrade the long flight if I give Emirates a call, however I have a couple of questions:

  1. Given that my flight is in a couple of weeks, should I just call and ask now, or is it likely that I will be offered a better price if I wait until it's closer to my flight (just before/after the check in window opens?)
  2. Given that the DXB-MEL flight seems to be a popular one, and also taking into account that it's during the Christmas period, should these 2 facts discourage me from expecting any kind of offer/good price for a one-leg upgrade to business, even if I wait until a couple dozen hours before the flight?
  3. Is there any point in asking for an upgrade at the airport (reminder: I have 0 points with Emirates)?

BHX -> MAA - £800 return during Diwali?

Hi, I'm planning to visit Chennai next year from BHX in the UK and I'm looking at flights. Currently I can see a return for £800 Emirates from BHX via. Dubai which has convenient flight times from 15th October to 29th October. However I'm wondering whether to wait for a few months or buy now.

Does anyone who travels frequently on this route know what the typical price is and what's a good price? Do Emirates tend to have Boxing Day/New Year sales?

Lawyer or Cabin Crew

Hello everyone.

I’m (26F) a newly qualified lawyer in Australia and I have an Australian visa which expires in two years. My plan was to go to Australia to work as a lawyer. However, I’m quite keen in being a cabin crew as well. Love the thought of being able to travel around the world.

I applied online and got an invitation to go to the assessment day. But im kind of in a dilemma at the moment. I only plan to work as a cabin crew for two years as I don’t see myself doing this when I’m old. I heard it’s not good for your body. But if I work for two years as a cabin crew, I will lose the opportunity to look for jobs and to work in Australia as a lawyer as it is very hard to get a visa in Australia. It is also very hard to find jobs in Australia.

What would you guys do in my position?

TIA

What's the economy child meal?

Flying with Emirates soon and have a 3 year old with allergies (dairy and egg). Is it better to order a vegan meal or a child meal? Hoping the child meal will be chips and chicken or something uncomplicated

Thoughts on Premium Economy seat recline

So this week will be my first time on board Emirates. I thought we'd be seated in economy, but my parents revealed that they upgraded the seats to Premium Econ. As mentioned, I've never flown Emirates but I am a sucker for watching aviation reviews during studying or free time. I've seen mixed reviews about Premium Economy. I'm especially worried about the recline. The seat will recline back dangerously close to the passenger behind me and also other people can confine me if they decide to recline fully. What are your experience(s) with Premium Economy?

Is it reliable to book emirates tickets on Amazon?

I’ve been comparing the prices of Emirates tickets across different platforms and see that I get some additional cash back if I book via Amazon.in.. is it reliable to book using that?

Passed final interview - got rejected in less than 24 hours. What should I improve to get hired?

Hi all,

I attended an Emirates assessment day yesterday.

There were 3 rounds, introduction, group exercise and an english test. I passed all 3 successfully and I made it all the way to the final interview, which was actually on a Teams call.

This morning, less than 24 hours later, I received an e-mail rejecting me. (After careful consideration, we regret to inform you that your application will not be progressed further at this time. Etc…)

Honestly, I’m currently wondering what could have been the reason for the rejection…. Now, I worked a lot on my CV and cover letter and I feel like they were great. I think I also gave brilliant answers to all of their questions and did the best I could. I also tried to look the part and put a lot of effort into my apperence such as clothes, hair and make-up.

I know that you guys won’t be able to tell my why I was rejected either but I was wondering - if any of you went through the same thing - What did you do? Did you re-apply?

I am a bit sad and dissapointed however I am thinking of trying again in the next few months, since even the recruiter herself (ex-Emirates cabin crew) said that she applied 4 times to get the job.

If any of have experience with Emirates feel free to share!

Denied boarding - Dubai

  1. I upgraded to business class as I’m 7 months pregnant. I was shocked at how rude & cold the Emirates staff are in Dubai airport. I’m Indian and maybe that contributes. I could never imagine British Airways staff being so rude to my face.

  2. I had been in Dubai for 4 weeks from Mumbai. I had a medical letter from Mumbai that I was fit to fly as I’m pregnant until such date and what weeks I was.

  3. Emirates last minute said I can’t board as I have to be re-examined by a local doctor for a new certificate. I had called Emirates to check if everything would be fine before my flight and they had said yes. On their website none of this is clear that a local doctor letter is needed.

  4. I had to go to a Dubai hospital, wait and pay £300 for this examination, stay in Dubai another night and pay for another upgrade and a ‘no show fee’ - even though I showed up.

I’ve never been in this situation. It was distressing. I always fly on BA but this time I thought I’d experience Emirates as I heard great things about the new business class. I ended up on the old business class as well.

They had no vegetarian main course…even though I requested this in business class prior…& I had to go straight for a hospital appointment when I landed.

My midwife said I was malnourished after she did some tests.

I’m completely put off Emirates and I just wanted to share my story. This happened just a month ago.

I complained to Emirates and they give zero Fs. At least British airways may throw in AVIOS or apologise. Nothing from Emirates. I was literally crying in the business class terminal from the stress of being denied boarding and they were soooo rude.

Extra Baggage Allowance (Student)

I'm a student travelling internationally from US. I have applied the student promo, am a student and have my valid student Id with me. I bought the ticket with 10% discount using the promo.

It is shown in my ticket that I'm allowed 2 checked-ins with 23Kg or 50lb each. Will I be able to bring an extra check-in of 10kg ? I have applied the student promo, am a student and have my valid student Id with me.

Relocating in Dubai as Flight Attendant

Hello

I was wondering as a flight attendant, if you are obligated to stay in a shared house that Emirates provides. Or is it possible to find your own place where they or yourself pay for?

Emirates Bus from Abu Dhabi to Dubai Airpor

Hello!

I booked the Emirates Bus from Abu Dhabi (ZVJ) to Dubai: https://www.emirates.com/de/english/...service-dubai/

Pick up: In front of Emirates Down Town office ‑ Khalidiya ‑ Corniche. Is that the correct place: https://maps.app.goo.gl/BCqdnpJJgXGxXPrA7 ?

Did someone use the Bus before and can tell me how it works? Do I have to check-in somewhere? Is it enough to be there 30 minutes before departure? Thanks!

Should I accept customer service role offer?

I got offered a customer service position at DBX with Emirates but my goal is to eventually become cabin crew. Also, I’m based in Australia and the salary is very low compared to the average salary here. And I’ve heard career progression from ground staff to cabin crew almost never happens. Should I go for it for the experience of working for a big airline or should I keep trying to apply for cabin crew?
