Anybody else feel a little bit icky about this song? I wasn’t fully aware of the Dero Goi issues until today and now that I’ve learned about it, it’s kinda ruined one of my favorites from LMM.
Do we know how aware Alexx and Pix were of his beliefs and actions? EB has always struck me as fairly left-leaning in politics, I couldn’t see them working with Goi after becoming aware of how nuts he got.
One of my favourite YouTube genres is people discovering music for the first time.
What Megaherz/Eisbrecher stuff should make the list? Both musically and lyrics wise.
Hey everyone. Before you all rush in to join. I would just like to say that I'm starting this on my own with no knowledge of Discord and how to run it so if you have any suggestions or are willing to help I am very happy to hear it out. I know it may go slow but I think it could be fun. The default language will be English but there will be a foreign language room provided for you to go wild in. Take it easy on me everyone. My moderators are close friends who have recently become fans so please take it easy on them too. Thank you, everyone!
Title says it all, I'm going to line these two up in a variety of categories and give the reasons I deem one or the other to be the winner. Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
Round 1: Musical Variety
Winner: DHMW
If I had to quickly sum up this record, I would say that it's a perfect example of EISBRECHER's catalog up to the point of its release. Songs like "Tanz mit mir" and "Böser Traum" have the sinister energy of Sünde, while "Verrückt" and "Exzess Express" recall the intensity of Antikörper. "Herz aus Eis" does far more with the experimental edge of Eiszeit and adds dubstep to the band's repertoire, while its cold atmosphere captures the mood of the self-titled. Speaking of experiments, this is one of the band's most daring efforts. It dabbles successfully in power balladry and progressive rock, whilst still keeping that signature EB edge.
Schock is more meat-and-potatoes. It places slightly more emphasis on crunchy riffs, harsh vocals, and pounding drums, often utilizing the electronic and orchestral elements as pure atmosphere or background ear candy. It is more of a straightforward metal album that occasionally harkens back to DHMW-balladry. EB performs this sound quite well, but Antikörper is a stronger example of a heavy record that successfully blends in industrial and electronic elements. That combined with the fact that this album just isn't as interesting as its predecessor, and it, unfortunately, loses this round.
Round 2: Musical Proficiency
Winner: SCHOCK
While not miles and bounds above the album prior, SCHOCK simply features a more technical performance from the musicians involved, especially on the guitars. Riffs on DHMW relied on the simple yet effective method to get their point across and they did succeed in doing so. Here, though, the guitar-work is spruced up. The lead guitar parts are more involved ("Fehler Machen Leute", "Unschuldsengel") and the rhythm parts are beefier and chunkier ("Himmel, Arsch, und Zwim", "Zwischen Uns"). With less emphasis on the bells and whistles, the group's other instrumentalists show marked improvement. The bass guitar part absolutely dominates the verse of the title track, the drums blast through the verses of "So Oder So" and set the calming pace of "Noch Zu Retten"). Pix and Alexx have always proved their songwriting worth, don't get me wrong, but this album is a better case for that than Hölle.
Round 3: Lyrical Proficiency
Winner: DHMW
One classic EISBRECHER trope is their penchant for bleak, often pitch-black lyrics (see "Leider"). Alexx is a master at creating abstract word pictures that perfectly describe life, love, death, and everything in between, though EB is arguably best at their darkest. DHMW shows that talent off across the spectrum; "Verrückt" is a heart-pounding exploration of insanity, "Prototyp" is a thrilling story of a lonely (and possibly murderous) scientist, "In meinem Raum" illustrates a beautiful picture of simple solitude, and "Ein Leben lang unsterblich" is an inspirational number. This album effortlessly explores several different moods, while doing justice to all of them.
SCHOCK largely thrives, however, on some kind of aggression. Aggression at societal systems ("Schock"), aggression at organized religion ("Himmel, Arsch, und Zwim"), aggression at an ex-lover ("Unschuldsengel"), an aggressive approach to life ("1000 Narben", "Volle Kraft Voraus"), you get the picture. These songs are fantastic; this record will pump you up, and from the cover, I think that was its intent. It just left me wanting more, especially at nearly an hour runtime. I think that if some of the musical soundscapes had been more interesting, the force would've been a bit blunted and allowed some other emotions to flourish. Antikörper is the band at their heaviest, but tracks like "Vergissmeinnicht", "Kinder der Nacht", "Ohne Dich", and even the verses of the title track dial back the heaviness in favor of atmosphere. SCHOCK doesn't do that.
Overall Winner: DHMW.
Hello everyone! I've been thinking about potentially starting an Eisbrecher Discord. A place for us fans to get together and talk about anything to do with the band really. But I would love some thoughts on things to be in it and what intrigue there would be for the idea? I have also started collating some knowledge of the band and trying to find out how much is out there in the world that may have country restrictions or that some others may not know about? Let me know your thoughts!
Has anyone noticed lately that the official video for Stossgebet has been taken down? One of my friends DM'ed me a couple of minutes ago about it and I couldn't believe it so I just searched it up for myself to see and in fact it is gone. Does anyone have any idea of why this might've happened? Is Youtube's bots going crazy because of some uniforms or are companies not in a good mood atm?
Really excited and proud of myself for this. Title of the post says it all: gonna tackle all the guitar-involved tracks on Sünde, including bonus track Blut und Tränen. Considering adding some heavy guitar into Kuss as well.
Is that a guitar solo or synth? I don’t play guitar so I’m having trouble differentiating between the two in that song.
Freaking awesome song either way omg.
Don't get me wrong: still the weakest EISBRECHER album, especially sandwiched between Sünde and DHMW. However, I relistened to it in my car yesterday and it's better than I initially gave it credit for. That was my fourth listen all the way through and I actually really dug it. Just wanted to share my thoughts on it here with the fans.
For one, I do think it's definitely the poppiest, most accessible album by the group. Alex's growls are toned way down, the guitar parts aren't nearly as hard-hitting, and the lyrics definitely tone things down a good bit. Where Sünde discussed pedophilia ("Kann Denn Liebe Sünde Sein?", "Heilig"), political satire ("This Is Deutsch?"), and literal hellfire ("1000 Flammen"), Eiszeit focuses more on themes of love/lust ("Bose Mädchen", "Gothkiller", "Bombe", and "Der Hauch Das Lebens") and mild societal criticism ("Eiszeit", "Supermodel", "Amok"). The synthesizers are used less as tension-builders and ear candy and more as textural fillings for the songs, taking prominence in several moments. They sound so incredibly beautiful, though, that it's really difficult to mind.
The album is also about fifteen minutes shorter than the typical EISBRECHER outing, clocking in right around 35 minutes. The penchant of the group for explosive, instrumental sections á la "Heilig", "Taub-Stumm-Bind", and "Entlassen" has been trimmed back in length, though not in presence. The songs here still breathe, but just let out smaller breaths.
Again, the record has its flaws. It is quite short and, following the metallic powerhouses of the two records before, does require a bit of an adjustment. However, one of EISBRECHER's greatest components is the band's ability to bring different styles together into their arsenal. This is where they successfully flex their pop rock muscles.
Here are some random Eisbrecher songs. Just pick your favourite one.
I don't have tons of time to do it but I'm trying to tab some of Liebe Macht Monster, I'll update the community when I get something else tabbed. For now, here's a PDF of a tab for "Nein Danke".
