What post 2000s bands are there that you would say has a similar style/sound to echo?
If anyone happens to be in the San Diego area, my band The Rightovers is playing a Bunnymen cover set TONIGHT at the Soda Bar Halloween thing. Our set is:
Rescue The Puppet Do it Clean Bring on the Dancing Horses My Kingdom Killing Moon Lips Like Sugar
We’ll be filming it too.
found out about this track by another new wave adjacent artist, anthony moore (slapp happy, henry cow, wrote for pink floyd etc) which features Ian on vocals, it's pretty great! thought fellow echo and the bunnymen fans might be into or appreciate its existence:

I picked up a copy of Reverberation at a local junk shop for a couple of bucks. When it first came out, I picked up a cassette and lost it at some point between various moves. When this came out, I liked it. Even though it was the same band name, I viewed it as a band going in a different direction. I know it gets a ton of hate but it’s definitely a chill vibe recording. I was under the impression that the album was buried but noticed that it’s on Spotify.
Given it’s been like 30+ years since its release, what are your thoughts on this album? Is it something you’d revisit or just mark up to a move that didn’t work out?
Grew up listening to Echo and the Bunneymen with my father, over the past two years the are my most listened to artists by a landslide. I’ve listened to everything of theirs on Apple music a million times through. I will get some hate for ranking The Killing Moon 9th but I truly don’t believe its one of their absolute best songs.
10: Rust 9: The Killing Moon 8: Crystal Days 7: The Back of Love 6: Seven Seas 5: Never Stop 4: Silver 3: Rescue 2: The Cutter 1: My Kingdom (live in London)
I was wondering if you had something to suggest, almost usable in a """disco""" contest, that can be danced on
the version of pictures on my wall from crocodiles on spotify is the single version and not the album one. i checked youtube and that's not the case! i still do love the single version though, probably more than the akbum one
So excited! This is a make up show for last year’s cancelled show. Please please please make this a good show! 2 hours till showtime!
Great show. Voice sounded great!
haters can be gone now
I have two tickets for tonight's show, unfortunately I can't make it. Giving them away to the first person that contacts me. I know it's late but if you're local, there's still time to make it. I would rather they go to someone that will enjoy it.
They were better at the Mountain Winery last year but I still enjoyed last night's show. I didn't care so much that I couldn't understand Ian's in between songs drunken ramblings. I actually found it funny. Yes he can't hit some highs at times like he used to but overall he was good and Will was great as always. I can't blame Ian for the intermission knowing he has a back problem. I wish they played more songs from their non-80s albums. My onky other nitpick is that I'm not a fan of audience sing alongs and there were too many last night whereas there were none I can recall last year. But overall it was a good show and the band was tight.
I went into this one thinking that it was guaranteed to at least be better than the Fox Oakland nightmare from 2 years ago. But I’m not sure that was the case. This was pretty bad.
All of the same problems as last time: not hitting the notes; barely singing some songs; terrible lighting that not only didn’t add anything but was downright hostile; weird song selection and pacing; etc.
At least this time Ian was standing and the medicine table was a little back on the stage instead of up front, next to him. But the Warfield was ridiculously hot (at least up in the balcony where I was) and it just wasn’t a good time when it came down to it. The capper was when Ian stopped Ocean Rain after the first verse and walked off the stage, followed by the rest of the band. If they left the show with that it would have ranked as one of the biggest FU’s I’ve ever experienced at a show but thankfully they came back out and pulled it off, mostly.
So I don’t know; the show was pretty bad but the songs are so good it almost didn’t matter. I appreciated the quality singing by the crowd - that was fun. But after seeing this band 5 or 6 times since 1985 I think I’m done. It’s clear to me now that these aren’t just off nights; this is what it is and it’s not getting better, only worse.
